Split, Croatia
Docked in Split, Croatia around 10am. Easy walk from the ship to the Split City Museum & Diocletian’s Palace where we saw the Courtyard, the Baptistry of St John/the Temple of Jupiter, the Cathedral of St Domnius (there was a wedding taking place) as well as walked through the Peoples Square. We of course stopped for some lunch – had a great salad with local ham on it (not Boars Head, if ya know…

All aboard
So today started out a little rough. Hit my forehead on a glass bedside table hanging on the wall. It would not have been a bloody mess had it not already been broken, assuming by someone previously unplugging their phone, just like me. After some applied pressure, ice & a band-aid, it was time to move on. We headed for our transfer from Venice to Trieste to board our ship, the Oosterdam. The…

Next week I head out on a trip to Europe with one of my nieces. It’s quite an adventure in a post-Covid world. Below is our itinerary over 14 days.

Saturday - Custer State Park
Saturday – Custer State Park
Gorgeous day! Started off bright & early, after a late night coming home from the Badlands. Allison & I went on a Jeep Buffalo “Safari” then Marc & the kids went on a horseback trail ride. Mom needed some rest after our big long day. Safari was cool…learned a lot about Bison and the area…I won’t be able to share all we learned but here are a couple of tidbits….A single female leads a heard for…

We left around 10:30am… got there around 1pm…LeBrun’s in the rental and Mom, the dogs and I in the RV…turned out to be smart…we all piled in there around 4:30pm to cool down and eat…

I’m a bit behind…. But Thursday was Maddie’s 19th birthday… it was a very quiet morning as we waited to get our rental car to explore the Custer area. We had an early steak & potatoes birthday dinner then we all piled into our rental and drove the Wildlife Loop of Custer State park…we saw bison up close and personal, posted that video that night…it was very cool!! After the drive we celebrated…

Lovin’ South Dakota
Today was a big day. We left the American Creek Camground in Chamberlain, SD and headed to our next stop in Custer, SD. Right outbid the gate we had STONG winds…we were all over the road for a couple of hours so pulled off at 1880 Old Town… apparently the horse from Dances with Wolves retired, died and was buried as well as has many set pieces and has a little old western town set up…was a great…

Heading to South Dakota
Alright… another day in the books. Loving my red barn photo taken while driving from my dashboard mounted phone…it really struck me and captured South Dakota for me so far. It is wide open pretty country out here!!! For those traveling this way this summer, South Dakota is easy driving but there are not many exits AND it is windy, or at least it was today…I fought the steering wheel…So much so…
