Hey guys! How's it going?🙂. . I'm finally reviewing my first Canadian whisky 😄. It's the Crown Royal!🇨🇦🥃. . Designed to celebrate the visit of Queen Elizabeth and King George VI of England to Canada, Crown Royal is made up of 50 whiskies matured in white oak barrels and bourbon barrels. It is a classic Canadian blend, with a fine, rich and balanced taste and a history of over 70 years. The bottle is wrapped in a purple, elegant bag with gold inscriptions. Didn't really like the bag do I didn't include it in the shot 😄. . Here is my review:. . Nose: A rich and intense fragrance with a hint of vanilla and fruit. . Palate: Fine and creamy, with delicate aromas of oak, honey, caramel and vanilla tones. . Finish: Medium, balanced, delicate. . Color: Amber gold. . It didn't particularly impress me, but it's not bad either, it's a sweet whisky, right on my sweet tooth 😄 though the 40% ABV is not enough for me to tickle my fancy 😉. . Have you tried this one? Hey guys! How's it going?🙂. . I've got another Irish one for you today! 😊. . Before you start yelling at me for wasting my money, listen, I had to try this, ok? I had to see if it's really that bad 😄. . Proper No. Twelve is a blended Irish whiskey, triple distilled, which promises to give a new meaning to the category of drinks it belongs to precisely through its unique aromatic qualities. To obtain and maintain the character, balance and velvety taste of Proper No. Twelve, the producers use only high quality barley, air-dried and ground in a traditional mill. The expression blends excellent aromas of golden grain malt and single malt with notes of vanilla, honey and burnt wood, so that it reaches a particularly interesting aromatic depth. . That's what I should have said... but I didn't. This whiskey is... well, tasteless, truly. . Here is my review:. . Nose: The bouquet reveals sweet cereal notes, embraced by vanilla hues and some fresh influences. . Palate: The aromas bring to the stage more pronounced accents cereals, honey, vanilla and burnt wood. . Finish: Long, sweet. . Color: Amber. . I tried really hard to find something to like about this whiskey, and while the nose is not terrible, the rest is just tasteless. . What can I say, they can't all be winners. . This is a single cask, bottle no. 196 out of 494, ruby port cask, cask strength at 60.1% ABV, and it’s an absolutely delicious scotch. . Here is my review:. . Nose: Honey and sweet spices, with gentle notes of mocha and orange zest. Dark fruit. . Palate: Heather honey, caramel candy and plums combine with mocha, cinnamon, nutmeg, orange zest and raspberries. . Finish: Long, sweet and zesty. . This time we have the 12yo Singleton single malt scotch whisky 😉. . The name "Singleton" is inspired by an expression used by whisky brokers in the early 1920s to describe a whisky from which they had only one barrel available. This name is not accidental, because the expression is a very special one. The 12-year-old Singleton of Dufftown is aged in European oak barrels, from which it borrows sweet aromas and notes of walnut. The character of this expression aged for 12 years is shaped by perfectly balanced flavors, to create a harmonious single malt. . Here is my review:. . Nose: Sweet cereal notes with woody accents and aromas of hay and nuts. . Palate: Spicy citrus aromas, which delicately envelop the notes of walnuts, oak and praline. . For this Friday's review I thought about having something a little bit different, and since I haven't reviewed a lot of blended malts, here you go, it's the blended malt scotch whisky from the Naked Grouse. . First launched in 2011 as a blended Scotch matured in first-fill Sherry casks, The Naked Grouse was billed as a ‘smoother, sweeter’ addition to The Famous Grouse extended family. . Now the expression is being relaunched as a standalone brand made from a selection of malt whiskies but without any grain, offering a ‘more robust’ flavour than its blended predecessor. . Here is my review:. . Nose: Red Fruits, Spices, Vegetables. . Palate: : Prunes, Black cherries, Maple, Woody, Cinnamon, Chocolate, Roasted hazelnuts. . Finish:Medium long finish. Caramel and honey flavoured chocolate ensure a sweet and comforting landing. . Following up on the Glengoyne 10yo, I have the 12yo în review as well 👌🏻. . In short, the 12yo Glengoyne can be described as a perfect mix of sweet flavors and woody notes. Launched in 2009, the range is distilled from non-smoked barley, but unexpectedly for a Glengoyne whisky, it is also aged in bourbon barrels (25%) in addition to the already usual sherry barrels. The expression thus enriches its aromatic profile with mild aromas of vanilla and citrus from the bourbon barrels, as well as fruity notes from the sherry barrels and outlines a sophisticated aromatic profile, with an extraordinary balance. . Here is my review:. . Nose: Predominantly sweet bouquet, with notes of cereal, cookies, honeycomb and lemon peel. . Palate: Aroma of caramelized apple, cookies, orange, ginger, vanilla and sherry influences. . Finish: Dry, fragrant. . Color: Intense gold. . This is another good whisky from Glengoyne. I don't usually review cognac on my page but I like to spice things up every now and then 😉. . It's a VSOP cognac from Baron Otard. The elegant French expression is obtained from carefully selected eaux de vie from Petite Champagne and Grande Champagne to create an elegant and sophisticated composition, whose character is perfected by aging in oak barrels in the cellars of the house, Baron Otard house that is. The velvety texture and the special aromatic palette outline an absolutely charming drink, appreciated by cognac lovers from all over the world. Baron Otard VSOP is suitable for special occasions and can be served dry, with ice or in cocktails, to which it adds a note of expressiveness. . Here is my review:. . Nose: A predominantly floral scent, complemented by accents of pear, dried apricot, yellow plum, vanilla and a touch of tobacco. . Glengoyne 10yo is distilled exclusively from air-dried natural barley, without smoke, and aged in hand-selected sherry barrels, made of European and American oak wood. The whisky thus enriches its aromatic profile with mild fruit aromas borrowed from the walls of sherry barrels, but also with an inviting color. The aromatic palette is quite nuanced for a young whiskey and has a good balance, which makes it pleasant and easy to drink. . Here is my review:. . Nose: The bouquet displays sweet notes of caramel, nuts and popcorn, subtly complemented by the freshness of green apple accents. . Palate: Clear aromas of cereal, green apple and oak wood wrapped in fine tones of licorice. A drop of water opens up delicate almond flavors. . Finish: Long, clean, sweet. . Color: Gold. . For this review we have another one from Arran, it's their 10yo expression. . The Arran 10yo is a distillery classic and is part of the standard range. The multi-award winning assortment that captures the beauty of the island so beautifully is without a doubt and can be a must-try for all those who are passionate about single malt whisky. The expression displays a certain maturity, which is why it seems hard to believe that it is only a 10 year old scotch, but it is light and easy to drink. And if you seem to already know enough about this expression, I'll have you know that the taste could take some tasters by surprise, because it easily deviates from the notes in the bouquet, leaving the grassy register and revealing sweet aromas, truly fabulous. . Here is my review:. . Nose: The bouquet opens with vanilla notes, accompanied by biscuit accents, honey and herbs. . Palate: Sweet and velvety, dominated by aromas of apple, citrus and digestive biscuits. . Finish: Pleasant, with malt accents. . Color: Gold. . For this Friday's review I have a whisky brand that I've been wanting to review for some time, I just didn't get around to it, the Arran🙂. . This time I've chosen the Arran Barrel Reserve, which is Arran's entry level expression. This is also a new expression in the rebranded core range and it is 100% ex-bourbon cask matured. It is all natural color and has an abv of 43% and it's a non-age statement scotch whisky 🙂🥃. . Here is my review:. . Nose: Warm vanilla, citrus zest. Pears, biscuit and malty with white chocolate apples. A whif of salty sea breeze. . Palate: Sweet vanilla, citrus tart, cinnamon cereal and green apples. . Finish: Short, citrus zest, vanilla and cinnamon cereals. . Not too bad, though it is somewhat lacking in complexity and isn't full bodied. Hey guys! How's it going?🙂. . It's Friday and you know what time it is! That's right, it's time for a new review!😊. . This time we have an interesting and somewhat controversial Kentucky bourbon, it's the Willett Pot Still Reserve. I say controversial because some people say it does not live up to expectations. Now I understand that somewhat, I mean when you pop open a bottle that looks like this you expect to drink an excellent bourbon. For some people the bourbon is rather underwhelming and I have to say that I have mixed feelings about that. . Willett Pot Still Reserve was originally introduced as a single barrel beginning in 2008. Around 2015, it was quietly changed over to a small batch bourbon. While Willett Distillery resumed distillation after a lengthy hiatus starting in 2012, Willett Pot Still Reserve continues to be sourced from undisclosed distillery(ies) in Kentucky. Willett has not disclosed if, or when, their own distillate will be incorporated into Willett Pot Still Reserve. It’s at 47% ABV, NAS (anywhere between 8-10 years), Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey,  72% corn, 13% rye, 15% malted barley. .
Nose: Summer fruit,s ripe cherry and a pinch of citrus, vanilla and dry oak. A hint of buttered popcorn with a dash of sweet honey. A bit light in complexity but still intertesting. . Palate: Honey and caramel combine to form a sweet note against a light punch of spice and zesty citrus. It’s potent but it does have sort of a thin mouthfeel. . Finish: Rye spice initially, followed by a delicate sprinkling of cinnamon. Buttered popcorn pops up again, along with vanilla and caramel flavors that give it a more traditional feel. . I must admit that while this is a good bourbon it did not really knock my socks off as I hoped. . So what do you guys think about this one?🙂 Have you tried it? What did you think of it?. . This 18 year old single malt is matured in American White Oak ex-bourbon barrels and finished in European oak casks, formerly used to age an undisclosed red wine. It’s a more traditional whisky than the Seven Wood, but a well produced one. . I took this shot last weekend in the parc, don't you just love nature in the fall? Such wonderful colors 🍂🍁😍. . Here is my review of the 18yo Jura. . Nose: Cinnamon, forest fruit, sweet, fruity and spicy. Nutmeg, liquorice and mint. . Palate: Soft, woody, oaky with brandied cherries, orange, grapefruit, milky coffee and blackcurrant and liquorice. . Finish: Long. Chocolate chip cookies, orange oil. A hint of hay. For this week's review we have an affordable Highland single malt, it's the Aberfeldy 12yo! 🙂🥃. . This classic Scottish single malt Aberfeldy 12 Years with a fruity aroma, complete and refined, enriched with notes of honey and spices, is part of the Dewar family of scotch. Distilled in the Highlands and aged in ex-bourbon barrels, Aberfeldy 12 Years is known as a sweet single malt with a rich texture and ample flavor. Although the red squirrel no longer appears on the label, the new elegant design in black and gold-rose tones perfectly completes its intense and at the same time delicate aroma. . Here is my review:. . Nose: Subtle, flavourful and fruity, with discreet smoky accents. . Palate: The delicacy of this sweet single malt, with notes of black grass, honey and spices is appreciated by whiskey lovers. . Finish: Slightly citrusy, dominated by smoky accents and a hint of vanilla. . Color: Amber gold. . All in all it's a nice single malt, not complex but it won't break the bank either 😄. . So for this Friday's review we have a bourbon I've been skipping out on for a long time, so I finally decided to pull the trigger. And I'm glad I did! This is good bourbon 👌🏻🥃. . This expression of bourbon is a tribute to tradition, being the only one in the Signature Craft series that benefits from a permanent presence in the range. The 12 years spent in the barrels seem to have been enough to achieve a balanced taste, with a perfect percentage of woody notes. Produced in small batches, Jim Beam Signature Craft 12 years is carefully created from the best ingredients and bottled with a concentration of 43% alcohol. . Here is my review:. . Nose: Woody notes, complemented by vanilla and caramel accents. . Palate: An elegant bouquet that combines aromas of caramel, honey, cinnamon and vanilla with notes of oak wood. . Finish: Woody, with notes of marzipan and a hint of smoke. . Color: Copper. . All in all it's a very good bourbon în my 🥃 book 📖🙂. . So what say? Is this a good one or what?😄. .
