the alarm on her face was clear at the mention of animals that were once people. somehow emma had managed to find herself in a place in which this was a real fear ââtaking home a pet just to find out it was a woman once? no, she would very much not like to be put in that situation. it might have been something she should have thought of, but she was grateful to henry for coming up with the very real possibility, and emma shook her head. Â
â no, youâre right, that would be âvery bad, to say the least.  âÂ
taking a deep breath she leaned back against the counter, arms folded across her chest.  â why donât we figure out something a little less unpredictable ?  â   she offered a shrug and then a small smile began to work its way onto her lips.  â  how about â what to do for dinner ?   âÂ
â And awkward. Really awkward.â He retorted. It was the one real reason he wasnât actively seeking having a pet, but a dire wolf would still be on the top of his list. Tiger, too, if he were honest.Â
â In this town, good luck with that.â He told his mom with a laugh, but as it shifted to a dinner conversation Henry shrugged. âPizza. Something tells me we should avoid tacos at all costs tonight.âÂ

A soft chuckle escapes the warrior, her smile truly lighting up her features at his words. Since she had found herself in this world with no memories, just the sword and shield had kept her alive. That was till she had met him and Sif knew truly began to know what is was like to live and not just survive.
âIt would be unjust for a rouge warrior to sweep up anotherâs men.â Her gaze falls across the battlefield to those still left standing. âYour men would fight with you till the last.â It is a quality that she finds admirable && somehow familiar.
The hand held at his shoulder falls away as she steps in closer, a sparkle to her hues. âFeast, drinksâŚgood companyâŚâ A teasing grin begins to twitch at her lips. âThough it would be hard press to find the latter considering the company I keep.â There is a exaggerated contemplation on her features as she gazes at him. âI shall settle for you mayhaps??â
â Itâs true, they would fight with me til their dying breath, but Iâm certain they would much rather train with you. â He said, letting a blush roll across his cheeks. Shaking his head however he realized just how silly he must sound to her.Â
When she made mention of settling for him, Cullen tried to keep a stern expression on his face only to have a smile tug at his lips. â I wouldnât dare ask someone to simply settle for my company, but if you insist how could I possibly decline?âÂ

âBribe is such a strong word.â Red teased, with a light sigh falling from those ruby red lips. Sheâd never do, well yes, in fact she would do just that. âI was just offering you donuts. I canât believe you wouldnât want one.â Her fingers touched her chest as if she was offended he said she was doing anything illegal. âBecause your men saw me there when they came in and of course they went ahead and said I did it. And if I did it then why wasnât the items stolen on me?â She was known to stash things in her bar most of the time or a pack. The one time she wasnât stealing anything was this time. âI was buying some booze for my dad. Even had a twenty to do so.âÂ
â Is it though? â He teased her right back as he looked at her from behind the bars. â Mmhmm...there are sometimes I trust you, Red. But tonight is not one of those nights.â He shook his head slowly as she pleaded her case.â You know Iâd love to help you out, but I think for the night itâs best if you stay in here. Just in case.âÂ

âThatâs fair.â His brows shot upwards as Lee chuckled. A hint of a smile touched the corner of Leeâs lips at the thought of Dianaâs loyalty towards Faye. âThank you.â His nodded his head towards the witch. âI donât know what we are if I am honest, but I do promise burning her is not my intention at all.â As hard as he was trying not to develop any feelings towards Faye he had failed since hi. âYou her protector?â
â Iâm her friend.â Diana said, eyes narrowed at Lee.âAnd Iâve seen her hurt before. And itâs not pretty.â though she wasnât going to say anymore than that. â If she likes you then that means something. Or she wants something.â and in Dianaâs case she could imagine that she wanted something from Lee ; something that Faye could use in her life. But there was still some hesitation to trust him.
Even if she kissed him.Â

Cora peered down at the baby girl in Anastasiaâs arms- the girl was still a newborn, so it was difficult to assess how much she might resemble her true father. The eyes were clearly her motherâs however. Still a bright color, not unlike the blue of Anastasiaâs.Â
âShe looks like you, I think,â Cora said, smiling approvingly. âYou have an heir to your throne.âÂ
Though she did not say it out loud, privately, Cora thought it would be wise to kill the King within the next year. If the child were to grow to resemble the Knave, it would be best that the King wasnât right next to her. People would forget the details of his face in time, and the legitimacy would never be questioned.Â
Instead, she began to plant the seeds of resentment.
âThatâs unfortunate,â Cora clucked her tongue. âMy late husband absolutely doted on Regina. I should think the King would be pleased youâve given him a child.âÂ
â I do. â Anastasia cooed at the little one. For more than one reason she was happy to finally be holding the baby in her arms. Not only was the pregnancy over - but she had an heir to secure the throne. True, a boy would have done wonders but this child would be no less loved, at least by Anastasia herself.Â
When she mentioned that the king would be pleased at the child, Anastasia then scoffed. â He was happy for the moment, but itâs my job to care for the child - he has more important work to do.â she said with disdain and underlying meaning.

âWill considering maybe me pickinâ you up at six be an option and a free meal before this dance?â He was sly while trying to sell that he indeed wanted to dance with her at his first American high school dance.Â
âWell, it sucks you donât have a surfer beach. Yourâs is more rocky and a matinâ ground for whales and sharks.â It was beautiful and cold. Another thing that Jeff wasnât accustomed too, but a blip showed up with his Princessâ energy here in this area. âSay, love, you got hiking trails or any good outdoor activities? A race track maybe?â Gods be good and grant him with the luck of racing here.Â
â I canât really say no to that.â Well, she could - but he seemed like he was interested and she could use the distraction. He didnât seem like heâd be so bad to hang out with even for a night.Â
âWhales and sharks? â Diana paused and then chuckled. â I mean maybe, I havenât seen any out there, but I donât really know much about the water in any real capacity. Just that itâs fun in the summer.â at his question she thought abou tit. â We have some trails, I could show you sometime.âÂ

EYES SHIFTED TO HIM just before she lifts her hands to playfully shove his face, pushing away that sad look on his face with a snicker. âWow, donât get sappy on me like that. I was unprepared and almost faltered on sight.â The sad expression, along with his words, would have changed the mind of even the most heartless of people, let alone someone like her who denied she wanted answers aloud, but deep down, sought them in some way. His claim to do anything for her did more to dissuade her than push her to pursue the journey.
âYou realize youâve done enough for me as is? Youâve done your fair share, put in a lot of man hours. You donât have to overdo yourself.â She knows telling him that he doesnât have to assist will have the opposite effect, but it doesnât prevent her from making sure he doesnât overexert himself for her alone.
Though he was all but ready to sign up for something that might do just that. Eyes rolled with a laugh at his salute, Sheriffâs honor hanging in the air. âYouâre really something else. Weâll start this whole research into my family tomorrow. Probably over coffee and breakfast in the morning.â
Her own hand lifted to the space over her heart, coy grin playing at the corner of her lips as she gave her own little honor. âAnd, no matter how or when this ends, weâll lament over it with pie.â
With a light laugh he would let himself fall away from her. Though her telling him to not look at her so sappy almost made him bring out the puppy dog look once more. He managed to not, however, and he kept a neutral but happy expression. But he did wonder just how well he could work the eyes if he had too.But he wouldnât want to wear that out as soon as he realized that it may have some power. But he didnât realize just the affect it had.Â
â I wouldnât say itâs overdoing myself - â Graham shook his head. â - I do it because thatâs what friends are for. Besides, it helps to keep you out of trouble.â and he would play that off as the key reasoning behind anything he does for her, though it went deeper than that.Â
â That sounds like a game plan. So, weâll start at Grannyâs?âÂ

âYou asked if I was hidinâ anythinâ and I was.â Well it was one thing of many he was hiding from Jenna but he didnât need to let her know about the club yet. Cerberus wasnât ready for that side of himself to roll over into this relationship.Â
âIâm sorry Jenna.â Cerberus looked down a second then back at her as his fingers moved to touch her hands. âIt donât mean I ainât in love with you. Honestly you been one of the best things that has happened to me, âsides my boy.â Nothing and no one would ever take the love he had for Llovel.Â
âWell, ya can be, but that would suck.â He winced knowing things werenât going to be smoothed over with a necklace or words. âI donât wanna break your heart.â That was one of the last things he had ever wanted to do was hurt her, and now he wanted to know who was talking to Jenna about his ex.Â
âDid someone say somethinâ âbout me?âÂ
â Itâs not important.â she was willing to dismiss it quickly as she didnât want to fight with him either. But she was hearing some things that left her wondering - hearing things about the ex. It was staring to gnaw at her insecurities and truth be told she didnât like that one little bit. Who would?Â
â And if I ask you if you want her back...?â she should just drop it but she needed to know. She wanted to know even if it hurt the hell out of her. Knowing that he was still in love with her managed to hurt just enough.Â

she groaned, still feeling faint. bodily instinct had her clutching
caiden for balance, the witchâs legs unstable.  while sheâd like
to say it was nice to see him, it simply wasnât on her mind; all
that was going through her head was pass or fail.
          and she had failed.
     â âŚs-sit⌠i need to sit. â
He held on to her as tightly as sheâd let him. Telling him she needed to sit he moved her to a chair, placing her down gently. â Iâm going to get you that water.â he told her, whether or not she wanted it. Caiden didnât care - well, he did. He was concerned for her but clearly didnât care if she didnât want the water.Â
âWhat were you doing?âÂ

Sable looked up at his question, pulling the latex gloves from her hands for now. She would put on a new pair when he was out of the bath so she could dry the area around the wound before bandaging it. Â
âBecause, I want to help. I donât care whatâs between us. Youâre hurt, and I can help.â Her fingers touched his cheek for a minute before pulling them away.  âI know â I just know what itâs like to be hurtâŚand to not have someone there. I - I canât do that to you. I promise, I wonât fret. Iâll just make sure you have the stuff so it heals easily.â Â
She knew he was not one to get close. That had not stopped her heart from growing a little attached to him, despite their strange pairing. He was one of her professors, but they were both adults. It was a mess, but werenât they both messes?
The words to ask her why she cared, really, were in his throat but they didnât leave the confines of his mouth. He just sat there in the tub and accepted her assistance. He had no reason not too.Â
Silent through most of it with only soft hisses through his teeth every now and again, Kegan kept his eyes forward not wanting to watch the process. A sigh did finally leave him though as he shut his eyes, leaning against the wall.Â
â Do you just carry that stuff around with you ? â

She left an impression on not only him but his son. whoâs oppion on people really mattered the most to Cerberus. Even his mother seemed to like the idea of anyone other than Ana around her son. One thought Cerberus shook off quickly with a smirk. âNow I like hot mess Jenna.â He teased, winking in her direction before stepping onto the steps only to back track when dog was tossed in the air.Â
âDog?â He took a deep breath, Llovel was an only child the little prince of the club now. Heâd get everything and anything the little boy wanted with asking. A dog was one subject that he hadnât crossed yet. Single parenting was one thing but to add a puppy in, well that was a second child wasnât it?
âWe gonna have to sit to talk âbout this and if we get one it ainât gonna be no damn yippy dog.â
â You like hot mess Jenna because of what she does with you in the after hours.â she said with a teasing smirk on her face, giving him a nudge, but then she had to nod. â Yeah, I may have put that idea in his head. Sorry.â She chuckled lightly, giving a shrug.Â
âOh God, no. No yipper. I think heâs fond of the bigger dogs, but then again he might be looking at them like horses...â Another chuckle. â Let me go get your dinner warmed up, itâll be done for you when you come back down.â

Hayley:
â WE CAN AGREE ON that much. Tights arenât really your thing. You could always go with my fan favorite of a ski mask and gloves. Itâs worked for me in the past⌠â Far from an admission of guilt for past misdeeds, she couldnât have chosen a worse location to suddenly spill her criminal acts than from behind steel bars. âYou know, on Halloween and for costume parties. Dressing up in disguise as a burglar is just so easy and economical.â This was no time for teasing, but it helped lift her mood, quelling some fear that the day would go downhill fast. There was a chance that things could still head in that direction, could end with her back behind bars, but in a far different setting. One where these visits would be with a glass window between the two.
For the time being, at least she had the freedom to ball up her empty bag and toss it at him for his quip. âIâd be a better Catwoman than Robin. I have the agility and track record to boot.â She only pulled back from the bars when he announced her living plans post bailout. His home? Eyes rolled to the ceiling, tongue tutting against the roof of her mouth when she stepped away. âI can just stay at Grannyâs B&BâŚâ with so very little money saved away, that seemed unlikely, leading her to her second option. âOr camp out? I love the night sky.â
There were bound to be stipulations with her bail, of not leaving the town limits and staying out of trouble. Them having a place where she stayed on the record might help far more than hinder her. And she trusted him far more than anyone else there. It was just the thought of somehow owing him that didnât sit well with her. She could take care of herself. She had for this long. âWeâll see.â Is as much as sheâll concede when theyâre joined by another officer. It was time to find out her fate, knowing he would be the one to take her to court. âYouâre going too, right?â
He might be the only person on her side of the courtroom, but one was better than doing this alone.
Grahamâs brow raised at the comment made of masks and gloves, and he shook his head. â Weâre supposed to be proving your innocence, not giving up information on previous crimes.â Though how she tried to switch it had him smiling despite the situation she was in. As long as she held on to her light -- thatâs something she would need.
He couldnât stop himself from smirking , turning to Hayley. â You just want to wear the suit, admit it.â but then there was going to be the argument of where she was going to stay. The offer of his place was not an offer, but more of a demand. â You could, but youâre not. Theyâll more likely feel better if youâre with someone of authority and not on your own.â though that was sounding more like an excuse so he could keep an eye on her. But there would be no doubt that there would be regulations to her bail.
âOf course.â he nodded. âIâm not going to let you go alone, Hayley. Iâm in your corner.âÂ

Hayley:
THE LIGHT PRESSURE OFÂ his fingers skimming across her cheek was welcomed by the dazed brunette, though she could no longer tell whether the feeling was thanks to alcohol or him. Her bets would be placed on him, feeling a bit more sober after speaking far too much into existence. It was something she had felt for some time, yet never voiced. For what reason? It would irrevocably change their dynamic and she couldnât be sure it was for better or worse. Liquid courage changed that, his reaction to her words being silence. Or was that in thanks to her actions instead?
There was no way of telling, neither any way to ask when his lips ghosted over hers to return the kiss. She was the one kept silent now, unable to speak a single word and not thanks to his kiss alone. What could she say to that? That was nice was the only thing she managed to come up with in her own mind, not feeling appropriate or adequate either.
Her lips were far better occupied than given the chance to part and speak. Their exchanges were light, tentative at times and far more gentle than she typically ever would be when completely sober. They were also a lot more uncoordinated, though his hand at her face, steadying her from drifting too far left or right, helped keep her from making a further fool out of herself.
It all had to end at some point, pulling back slowly and eyes opening just as her forehead rested against his. There was a lazy smile, eyelids growing heavy while she tried again to find something to say. âThat was nice.â Damn her drunken brain for not coming up with something more original or poetic. No, she went with the only thought she hadâŚ
Graham couldnât tell you exactly why the thought of change left him feeling unsteady, but only when he gave it real consideration. Otherwise it was fleeting and unimportant. His relationship with Hayley was not either of those things. It was one of the most important he had in his life. Rocky, filled with banter, sometimes never seeing eye to eye. They had their moments but that is what made it special if anyone asked. But he didnât realize just how special until walls dropped and doors opened.Â
He had to admit he agreed with her that it was nice, but all he could do was chuckle when she said it. A deep chuckle that somehow could carry his accent in melody as he brushed her hair behind her ear. Â
â I agree.â he said with a grin. â We should consider trying that again sometime, maybe see if we canât get it right on the first try.â Tease her while sheâs drunk?
It wouldnât be them if he didnât.

âIâm just sayinâ.â He was quick to remark back. âOutsider to the club really.â Not that his father or mother had any problems with Jenna at all, just wary of the elephant in the room being when he would tell her and how that was going to be taken. âThank you.â His voice really was sencer, reaching out he pushed a loose strand of hair out of Anaâs face pausing at the closeness there was between them.Â
âNawh, heâs still a broken mess, just tryinâ to pick up some pieces to take a step forward.â Jeena helped him see there was life after heartache. âAnaâŚ.â He closed his eyes to hang his head low It was hard to breath and talk with her when he was still halfway in love with his first high school sweetheart.  âAny guy is gonna be outta this world beinâ your guy. Iâm sorry. I donât want to fight you anymore, can we smooth this over and move on with our lives. You came home thinkinâ what? I was going to be a broken mess and youâd come back to pick those pieces up?â
â Is thaâ what you reallâeh think of me? Thaâ Iâd come back hopinâ to see you broken?â she seemed offended, but truth be told there was a small part of her that was hoping he hadnât found anyone and she could make amends with him, they could pick up their lives together and move on from there. But no - he had someone else now. Someone he seemed to be fond of. But she had to wonder to herself - was in he love with this woman like he loved her?Â
â I came back because I wanted too. Why is that not good enough?âÂ

there was something endearing about the color that rose to his cheeks. if he were any other man, she wouldnât let him hear the end of it. something about cullen, however, gave her pause, and amaya just sort of smirked at him instead.
â  you are very welcome.  â  she said with emphasis, her eyes watching him all the while. he was nothing if not unpredictable. and it wasnât as though he was doing anything completely out of the ordinary. she simply wasnât accustomed to a man being so obviously affected by her comments, and it made her grin grow even wider.   â  iâm so sorry, commander, but are you asking me on a date ?  â  she wasnât even hiding the amusement, now, but amaya certainly wasnât about ti refuse. with a bright smile, she spoke before he had an opportunity to reply.  â i would absolutely love to have a drink â or two â with you.  â
There were moments of fleeting emotions in his past, but they were just that - fleeting. They turned to nothing as it should be. But here he was no longer bound by the rules of the Templars, and yet he still felt obligation, duty above all else. But there was more freedom to be had, more freedom for him to explore.Â
It seemed like a harmless exploration of course, until she turned to him and proceeded to ask if he was asking her out on a date. Cullen took a moment to process before the corners of his lips turned upward. â I suppose if youâd like to call it as such, who am I to suggest otherwise?â And how could he refuse her if she wanted to call it just that with a smile like the one she currently had on her lips.Â
âI am ready when you are.âÂ
