the 19-year-old tenderqueer painstakingly trying to explain human pregnancy to @illegaluturnshaboingboing , a nurse who is also a mother, is making me cry laughing
my official stance is a pregnancy is whatever the pregnant woman wants it to be. if it’s a 4 week old clump of cells and she wants to call it a baby it’s a baby. if she’s 20 weeks and she wants to call it a parasite it’s a parasite. if she’s 39 weeks and calls it a fetus it’s a fetus. “why are you so sad about miscarrying at 6 weeks it was literally just an embryo” because that was her baby. “how can you get an abortion at three months” because that wasn’t a baby. hope that helps.

Are you leaving? :((((
Yeah, for a bit. I think radblr has been very helpful in opening my eyes to radical feminism, interacting with all types of women and learning so much. But it's sort of become another coping mechanism, another app I open compulsively on my phone to avoid.. life. It's also become a lot more toxic as of late, and I find myself getting upset and aggravated more than thoughtful and engaged.
It's not healthy to constantly be exposed to the worst of humanity (news about men being shit). Learning almost every day about something new and terrible men have done recently wasn't good for me.
I've made more friends with women who share similar feminist views, and have taken steps forward to do irl feminist actions - both in my career and in my free time. I don't need a community of like-minded women the same way I do when I joined a couple years ago.
I'm not leaving forever and deleting my blog or anything. I might come back at some point, I'm not ruling that out, but probably not anytime soon. I'm 100% grateful to all the amazing women on here who taught me so much and gave me so many resources, and exposed me to many different ideas and points of view. I'm just kinda done for now.

radfem infighting will get us nowhere. some of us are OSA. some of us have kids. some of us still wear makeup. some of us have a job that relies on our appearance. some of us still shave.
it's important to be united towards our goal, and that means sometimes people are going to be at different places in our lives.
our first step is waking up and understanding the influences of the patriarchy, and then working against those influences and forging a new path.
fighting with each other about every little thing will derail us and set us back. we should work together to break away from the patriarchy, not fight each other because we're at different stages.

like everytime i see a little girl with muslim parents who is in the middle of the australian summer wearing an ankle length dress with ankle length pants, full long sleeves and a headscarf covering her entire head and neck standing next to her brother in shorts and a t shirt im like. those parents should be killed. i hate them. their children should be taken away. and i hope when their abused daughter grows up she shoots them both. those poor fucking girls are gonna be delirious and sweating all day desperately trying to avoid heat stroke while their brothers get to be kids. its so disgusting and insidious. it doesnt seem like a big thing but those girls are literally roasting because their 8 year old shins are too?? sexy?? for their retard freak brainwashed parents?? disgusting. religion is actually a mental illness.

I don’t know exactly what the psychological basis is for the overlap between people in polycules and people who are furries is, but it is so frequent that there’s got to be something there.

this was an unpopular take in recent history but i truly believe it is possible to care about your friends and acquaintances and be a good friend while simultaneously hoping their lame ass boyfriend (theres always one) dies in a boating accident or falls into a well or smth

if you’re waiting for the perfect icon of radical feminism who has never done a non-feminist thing despite living in a patriarchal world, you’ll be waiting til the sun burns out.
Do you think dworkin was upholding the patriarchy when she got married

“if you think (something unrelated) is unrealistic, how do you consider yourself a radical feminist? Feminism is unrealistic!”
is a take that I saw today on tumblr dot com and I think radblr needs to chill out a bit and not spend half the time hating on each other.
Who does this benefit? To whose benefit is it if we use our time and energy to fight amongst ourselves about who among us is imperfect? Not us. There’s no situation where we can finally root out all the imperfect and wrong feminists so we can all live in harmony and achieve our goals. I’ll tell you who it does benefit, and that is men who do not want us to have any power or spend any time or energy fighting back against them.
Wider picture lens, please.

This is gonna be a controversial take but that's okay bc I don't care lmao
One of the biggest issues I have with the promotion of goddess worship and witchcraft in the radical feminist community isn't the hypocrisy of replacing one bullshit ideology for another or the ahistorical myths that are perpetuated; it's the false sense of empowerment these ideologies promote.
It's just like cosmetics. Liberal feminist women feel empowered when they conform to feminine expectations. They feel on top of the world and capable of doing anything they want when they're dressed up and feeling sexy and attractive. But they're not. They're not genuinely, tangibly empowered. It's just a feeling.
Likewise with witchcraft, none of this shit is real. Magic isn't real, souls aren't real, the law of attraction isn't real. So going through the motions of ~spell casting~ and ~positive intentions~ in all actuality does fuck all for you. You're merely harnessing the placebo effect. Which is cool if you just need your mood improved or need motivation or help making a decision.
Doing "witchy" activities will make you feel empowered but you're truthfully just wasting your time. Time that could be better spent on crafting actually beneficial skills like career/networking/interpersonal skills.
You're not gonna get a job by wanting it hard enough; you're gonna get the job by being qualified for it. You're not gonna have a good day by wishing for one; you'll have a good day if you make good choices and luck is on your side. Your silly little hex bag isn't going to cause anybody harm; if you wanna cause someone harm you have to actually hurt them yourself (physically/emotionally/socially/ykwim). Things are not gonna be handed to you because you spin around skyclad with your athame and play pretend with nonexistent deities. You have to actually work for it.
And what is most problematic about witchcraft, in my opinion of course, is that it predominantly appeals to women for a reason. Men do not desire supernatural ways of obtaining power and control; they already have power and control. And when women try to obtain power and control through silly rituals and crystals and herbs and mantras they're not actually obtaining power and control. They're continuing to allow men to maintain the power and control because they're not truly seeking power and control. And don't you think that if women were truly more "connected to nature" and able to use our "divine femininity" to help ourselves that we wouldn't still be living under patriarchy? Don't you think that if magic and gods actually existed that we wouldn't have taken full advantage of them by now? Or are gods so miniscule that they can only help you with teeny tiny trivial problems like decision making?
Ghosts and spirits are not real. There is no immaterial self or soul. There are no magical abilities or powers beyond fictional stories. What you are able to do with your physical body is ALL that you are able to do. And the sooner you realize that, the sooner you can get started on obtaining ACTUAL power and control from the men who've robbed us of ours.
If witchcraft is something you're very passionate about then great, by all means enjoy yourself with it. It's fun and cute and trendy, I totally get it. But do NOT pretend it's a feminist act or belief or that it grants you any semblance of true power. It isn't and it doesn't. Witchcraft will not give us rights and autonomy.
I don't say any of this to deliberately cause offense; these are just my unfiltered opinions on the subject. If you disagree, feel free to be equally unfiltered in your reply :)

I like "reforming men via social/legal disempowerment of males" because it's something that we can do and work towards now. Sex-selective abortions, only making females in labs, just straight genocide, will take decades and are probably not achievable. Education and appeasement doesn't work. But social and legal changes can be done now, they can be worked towards and provide tangible improvements in the lives of women today.
