Is there any 'Hot Takes' you personally have about the Fembots?

A hot take? I'm not really sure if I have any about the Fembots. I guess I don't really get the whole "head exploding thing" that some of the fandom like, but that's just me.

What are your overall thoughts on the concept of Austin’s mojo? And how do you feel about the way they portrayed him when it was stolen in The Spy Who Shagged Me?

That's a good question. The term mojo was used in the first film but was more of a reference to a type of general attitude / sexual prowess.

I do like the idea of it being something that could be drained as it gave Austin a vulnerable angle, though the idea of it being taken by a henchman rather than a femme fatale seemed like a missed opportunity to me personally.

As for the Fembots being able to drain Austin's mojo through sexual means, I don't think there has actually been anything concrete to suggest it, but some people have individually come to the same conclusion, making Austins horny tendencies and the act of him shagging being his downfall would have been pretty poetic. I think there was a performer named Goddess Genevieve who did something along those lines.

That angle isn't as common an idea as I would like though, as the usual idea is to have the Fembots be a foil which would become submissive to Austin, which I feel misses the point for me personally. Maybe that's just personal preference though, but I'm all for the Fembots being a tangible threat that are able to out-sex and reduce Austin to being a shell of his former self.

Why did Cheryl Bartel’s Fembot wait until Austin Powers placed the fembot’s skirt behind his head before spraying him with aphrodisiac gas? Couldn’t she have just gassed him the moment Anita Hart’s fembot landed onto Austin Powers’s shoulders rather than waiting on him to lift up her skirt?

Possibly. The storyboard fembot have no skirts so it was likely added on the day.

However, if you view the footage, you will see that not all takes of Anita landing on Austin's shoulders had her skirt land over his eyes.

I'm guessing that in one take, the skirt thing was a happy accident that they played along with as it added something else to pad out that scene and add some suspense with the marabou hem being near exact with Austin's eyeline.

Do you think the Fembots’ reaction to the strip tease was more of disgust rather than lust?

I don't actually think it was either, I lean more towards the idea that they were so weighted to being considered irresistible, that they weren't designed to handle a counter attempt at seduction, causing them to glitch out.

There was apparently a concept in an older draft of “The Spy Who Shagged Me” for He-Bots, male versions of the Fembots meant to take out Felicity so it would be easier for Dr. Evil to defeat the mojo-less Austin. What do you think of that concept?

I kinda like the idea. I have no idea what they would have looked like, maybe wearing something similar to the sparkly moonrise costumes though. I can see a similar use of gas though, see Mighty Boosh's Black Frost for how the method could have looked.

Let's say the Fembots mission is to subdue/seduce him as they suck out his mojo. How would they do it?

What do you think would've happened if Austin woke up pinned to the bed by the Fembots after Random Task knocked him and Vanessa out?

It probably would have been a more efficient trap, Austin is confused and suddenly in bed with the amorous androids and the boudoir has likely rotated around, leaving him with no way to escape.

With that, the Fembots could leisurely play with Austin, I doubt they would need to use their gas to put him under their spell, instead opting to just pin him to the bed and tease him as usual until he caves in to their advances or is physically aroused enough for them to start having sex with him or attaching a fluffy penis pump to him to suck the mojo straight out of his balls.

But then again, we know that efficiency isn't a valued trait for Dr Evil.

At the end of the scene where Austin Powers is dazed from the aphrodisiac gas, just before the frame switches to Dr. Evil it shows Austin Power’s right shoulder lift up as he takes a deep breath. Could he have been being pulled towards the bed by Anita Hart before the the scene changed or was she pulling him further away from the floor until the other fembots captured him.

I think that was just Austin rocking back a little. The setup for filming was just a trapeze which Anita hung from so she had no leverage to actually lift Myers up. All Anita could really do is angle her drop so the fluffy trim of her babydoll would obscure his vision and wrap her legs around his neck.

That said, the original scripts and screenplay do show Austin being lifted off the ground, but this would have happened before he was gassed originally, in effort to keep him in place.

That said, the script and screenplay actually make no mention of the legs belonging to a Fembot and just state "FEMALE LEGS drop and wrap around Austin's neck." It could very well be possible that disembodied, android legs could have been another avenue, rather than an actual Fembot like in the film, though with the same design notes would be nice. The marabou hemmed skirts impairing their vision with marabou mules working together with the look.

That would have made quite an interesting weapon to subdue men en-masse in their lair. A whole squad of commandos finding themselves with long legs wrapped around their necks, marabou trimmed babydolls fluttering over their eyes as the Fembots within the boudoir would adorn them their own fluffy penis pumps to extract any disobedience from them.

How do you think it would play out if the fembots did end up shagging Austin

If they did, slowly drain his mojo. It's an idea that I had in my head that the Fembots in the boudoir had a non-lethal method for dealing with Austin. Possibly due to the fact that every assassination attempt had failed and this would also explain why the synthetic sirens didn't kill Austin straight away. They went through great trouble to sedate Austin and bring him into their bed. Also, a (non-canon, mind) Japanese diagram of a Fembot featured master crafted "lady parts" that fed into some kind of mechanism covered in hearts. Maybe a siphon/repository for Austin's harvested mojo.

Should Austin struggle then one would simply non-chalantly shag him while the rest restrain him to the bed. After unleashing an initial heft measure of his own mojo, he would be a little more submissive, likely weak and begging for the Fembots to stop.

The third shag (or first is he doesn't resist) has him completely compliant, unable to even physically resist at all, and bereft of his mojo. There might be a few "dregs in the barrel", but nothing a few more rounds with the Fembots couldn't sort out, I'm sure the Fembots themselves would be too happy to be thorough with purging Austin's undercarriage of any traces of mojo.

I don't know how the Fembots would approach "shagging", though, as the exercise is tawdry and energetic while their approach is more playful, gentle and innocent.

I'd gather the Fembots would treat the process as gentle lovemaking in delicious opposition to how diabolically detrimental it would be to Austin as he is being held in place beneath them, the Fembots even referring to him being the one "making love" to them when he is obviously trying hard to resist or out of his head in a blissful haze.

If you had the opportunity to change/add anything to the Fembots seduction scene, what would it be and why?

There seems to be a fair amount cut from stills that can be found, such as the Fembots activating and sauntering out of the bedroom one by one, including Cheryl rising from the bed.

There's also evidence for the Fembots saying something to Austin after gassing him and also a shot of Austin's legs poking out from a pile of Fembots looming over him. It would be nice to see those in action.

But yeah, altogether, longer, more intense, and more drama.

First the Fembots come out one by one, Austin struggling not to swoon at each of them before he is gassed as usual.

In bed, extend it longer, have a longer cut of Austin being under their charms and maybe have that cut away to Dr. Evil or Vanessa, really pull out that tension that Austin is in real danger that he may not escape from. It also adds to the panic that Austin has when snapping out of the trance as there is a genuine chance he may fall for them again.

When we return we have Austin struggling as usual, but maybe include things from the storyboard, have an angle-up shot of the Fembots looming over the camera, and I like the idea of Cindy and Donna sandwiching Austin's face between two giant powderpuffs. Then zoom out to a wider shot of Austin's legs poking out from the pile of Fembots.

After that, business as usual, cut to Vanessa, cut back to Austin escaping and doing the striptease.

When the fembot lands on Austin's neck and while he is lifting her skirt, he is shown wearing a watch. Which I do so believe is his "geo-synchronous position device". When we cut to the bed scene, it is no where to be seen. While this could be just a simple continuity mistake, in the context of the film, why would the fembots only take away that? And not like his glasses, which would hinder his visibility, or his clothing to increase his arousal towards them?

You have a good eye! Spy watches are usually chock full of gadgets so it would be a good point for the Fembots to remove it.

As for his clothes, I imagine the Fembots keeping Austin clothed at the start would help protect against cross-mojination should he try to turn the tables in bed. Plus it's more efficient, no point in undressing him until they want to break him completely.

I imagine that once Austin would be sufficiently seduced/subdued they could undress him, and maybe give him some matching pink pants with a marabou crotch to "claim" him, but in my head they would definitely operate for efficiency.

No wasting time or effort undressing him, just unzipping his flies and pulling his pants down a little once they get down to business.

So, these shots always confused me at first, in one particular shot Anita looms over Austin, who appears to be utterly seduced. Seeing that Austin doesn’t fall back into the Fembots’ charms that easily in film, I wasn’t quite sure if the original plan was for Austin to fall back under their spell after Anita takes charge and commands him to give in. 

The spy physically unable to resist the commands from such beautiful creations as they overwhelm him with their attention. 

Then I realised this was probably an unused take after more images from this set surfaced. Anita is literally just stepping onto bed and Austin is still in a daze in comparison to the final version where he is frantic some time before she attempts to pacify him. 

I’m guessing this take had Powers only very barely holding on, completely physically enraptured and only feebly able to mutter “I’ve got to get Dr. Evil” behind a rictus grin and clasping hands as he is stuck in the overwhelming charms of his captors. Until the new addition to the bed stirs things up a bit, that is.

Between takes, behind the scenes shots with the Fembots. I can’t find the source anymore, but if I recall correctly they were originally on Hollywood Backlot.

It does make me wonder if the boudoir would have had a way to carpet the floor and possibly the bed with the stuff, a good way to tame Austin’s horny eagerness into blissful compliance if he does waste no time in joining them.

Interestingly, in this game, all of the of the Fembots are based on Cindy.
