‘Pretty.’

It flitted into his mind, foreign and strange.  Two syllables of staccato beat, lending a brief, insignificant weight to the word.  Despite this, it hung there, gravitating his wandering thoughts toward it.

Around him, the chatter of his companions was drowned by the music spilling through his headphones, their forms blurred by the holoscreens isolating him from their rowdiness.  But between two screens was a breath of unobstructed view, and from that Judas-hole floated that word.

It was not a familiar word.  The last time he had used it was from a distant watercolor memory of a gentle smile and the sweet scent of snapdragons.  The silken waves of hair he’d braid with his small hands.  Her own slender hands sculpted with both strength and kindness.  Perhaps it was a trite word to describe such grace, but he could not think of any better.

He never used it for the Queen.  She was flawed perfection in form and function, but it never occurred to him to associate that word with her.  Magnificent? Certainly.  But not…

‘Pretty.’

He was staring without realizing; only when Raven shifted, bright eyes meeting his through the gap between his holoscreens, did he return to his work.

But he recorded it down, that loaded word of brevity, to examine it later at his leisure.

(omfg i can’t remember where i was going with this LOL i think it had something to do with the word ‘pretty’ not actually referring to physical appearance but to a spiritual sense, but add was just unable to grasp the correct term and he only realizes it later when he looks over his old notes like, way in the future, and raven just finds it absolutely funny when add gets flustered about it [since it’s generally the equivalent of your high school crush finding your lovestruck diary when you’re both married and old])

Drawing of EM’s 3rd job I had been drawing when she was annouced, but I couldn’t finish it because I was busy with other stuff )’: I thought I could finish it now that I have a bit of free time but I couldn’t bring myself to, since there are so many mistakes I’d rather start over.
