As the time moved on, the smile on the boy's face slowly fell. It seemed like the answer would be a no. It always felt like a no.
"They didn't say I couldn't go outside today, and it looks nice out!" He pointed towards a window. It didn't look too sunny, or too cold. "Plus isn't it important that I get fresh air?" Petruccio added in along with another hopeful smile.
"I just want to go out, we don't have to go far from home."

"Can we go outside? Pleease?"
There was quiet, stretching on for what seemed like an almost endless jumble of minutes before a gusty suspire fell from parted lips. To allow Petruccio within the outside realm without the explicit permission of their caretakers is a gamble ranging along the unfavorable side of the spectrum, and one he is none too eager to contend with upon discoveration. However— it was the look within innocent gaze at caused his furthered hesitation, lip caught between rows of ivory enamel.
”Petruccio—” A sharp exhale. Inhale, too. “Did mother and father not tell you to remain indoors?”

The boy picked up some fallen feathers off the ground as Leonardo paid, and once the other finished he put the feathers away so he could take them home. "Did you buy the birds? Can I hold one? Wouldn't an eagle eat them if we open the cage for them?" He questioned, smiling as he watched the pretty little things.
"Okay," Leonardo held him tight, then carried him out of the workshop and made his way to the market. Once at the market, Leonardo looked around before walking over to a vendor with a cage full of birds. “Will you wait here?” He set Petruccio down for a moment, negotiating with the merchant then exchanging some coin for the cage. “Come on, let’s go and free them.” He smiled, beckoning to the boy. Maybe this would cheer him up.

"Si! I helped my mamma bake today, and we made some cake! I saved you all that could fit!"

Pan smiled, kneeling down to his eye level. “Ah, how nice! Is this for me?” The woman replied, accepting the box. “Molte grazie, Petruccio.”

The boy cuddled against him, giving a slight nod. "S-si," He didn't feel overly well to go see any birds, but he wanted to get going home and get some fresh air.
His expression softened and he picked up the boy, cradling him. “It’s only a dream, Petruccio. You’re safe. I’ll keep you safe.” Well, he was the one who gave the poor boy the nightmare, but still. “Do you want to go see birds? Are you feeling okay enough to go for a walk?”

Still fairly shaken, the boy nodded and reached his arms out for Leonardo. His mother had said he was a good man, and he trusted her words. If she said it was so then he would believe it- besides, he had no one else to go to at the moment.
Just as he finished shoveling the last bit of dirt over the body, he heard a muffled scream and ran back inside. “Petruccio! Pet—oh, good, you’re safe.” He trotted to the boy’s side. “Did you have a bad dream?”

Soon after the boy fell asleep, nightmares of what he had walked in on slowly creeped their way into his mind. Tossing and turning, he finally woke up with a scream.
Well. Leonardo sighed, then went to clean up his dissection room. It was too bad Petruccio walked in, maybe he should invest in another lock… Piling all the limbs and skin back into the body, he bundled up the sheet and went outside to bury the remains by his rose bush.

The boy nodded his head, eyes falling closed soon as he snuggled in. For the time being, he seemed to be sleeping peacefully.
"That’s alright, then. You rest, maybe get some sleep, yes?" He smiled, draping some cloth over the boy.

"...Si. Are we gonna go fishing for it, mamma?" He paused. "But what if a fishing hook gets stuck in my finger?"

[I used to have a headcanon that Petruccio had messy handwriting, but thinking it over I think he might have pretty good handwriting? Being stuck in bed gives one not much to do, and writing and maybe even drawing he could pass the time by? uvu Any thoughts, should I make this so or not?]

"I don't remember much of it, just that it reminded me of a fish.." He commented, sightly lifting his face so he could peek up at his mother.

The boy cuddled against her, "But how can we do that, when papa couldn't?" He whined, face burying itself against his mother's shoulder. However, he did feel safer with her.

The boy nodded nodded, “Mamma makes the best cake! It’s so nice and easy to chew~” He giggled.

"B-but what about the monster?" He whined, tugging on his mother's dress. "There was more blood than the time Ezio broke his nose!"
