more below the cut聽
name: june yeun聽 age: 24 occupation: grad school student / intern at a research facility聽 birthday: october 21th聽 zodiac: libra sun & leo moon & scorpio rising聽
personality聽
june is a very bubbly girl to the people she calls friends and family. always smiles and warm hugs or an arm tossed around a shoulder.聽
to strangers, she鈥檚 much more distant lately, always worried about her family and keeping what she thinks is a safe distance so she can鈥檛 get hurt.聽
incredibly driven about her dreams and her work, was raised to never do anything halfway- either give it your all or nothing at all.聽
quiet and shy upon first meeting, but will slowly warm up to you. once she鈥檚 declared you her friend, she鈥檒l be devoted.聽
recap
due to the larger gap between her and her brothers, june was use to always being an older figure in their life- sure, there might鈥檝e been a slight disconnect considering that the her little brothers were twins but she loves them unconditionally. often stepping in when their parents were busy to help take care of them when they were small, playing babysitter or once she got her license, helping drive them around.聽
in fact, when she went off to college she still chose to live at home, not wanting to be far from her little family. her parents tried to push her to go to a fancier school further away, wanting her to get what they thought would be the best education, but it was hard to beat when she got a full scholarship to a university only an hour drive away.聽
she went to university for history, ending up finding a way to specialize in archaeology & graduated the same year her brothers turned 16- she still thinks her parents planned it well so that almost all major milestones in the trio鈥檚 life would line up perfectly and they could have a year or two off from constant major celebrations.聽
she attended grad school at the same university, continuing to live at home, but now holding a paid internship at a local research facility- she would split her paychecks between money for her parents and school payments. and she became close enough with her boss at this position, to where he recommended she apply for an overseas dig. about nine months ago, june did, choosing to keep it secret from her family in case she didn鈥檛 get it.聽
in fact, june almost entirely forgot about the position with everything that had happened in the last six months. until she received a letter ago about two months ago saying she had been accepted into the program and it鈥檚 due to start the following september. in london.聽
TW: mentions of death & loss聽
in october, june was getting ready for what she thought would be the real beginnings of her adult life. she had applied for an incredible job overseas, her brothers had finally started college, she was about to graduate from grad school and be done with it forever.聽
she remembers the night she got the phone call, clearly. as if it鈥檒l be forever ingrained in her mind. she remembers being out with a few friends, celebrating her having just turned twenty four a couple days before. she remembers her mom calling, how her voice was breaking and how june鈥檚 friend took the phone to get the information because june had gone silent and numb. unable to move.聽
the harsh hospital lights were so bright and it was like june was outside of her body almost, she was watching her family fall apart and all she could was stare- she had never seen her parents, so, unlike themselves.聽
dylan had been such a light in her life, they had shared constant text messages, a silly snapchat streak that she cried over when it was lost the next day because she knew he was really gone.聽
but, june thought they would be able to move on together. as a family. but they weren鈥檛, aren鈥檛 still, and she鈥檚 at a loss. not quite sure what to keep doing because her mother barely answers phone calls, her still living brother is almost a stranger some days, and her father is so distant. june is trying desperately to hold them altogether, makes sure people make it home and that they still have food in the fridge on the weeks when their mother doesn鈥檛 leave the house. but she feels as if she holding it all by herself, there鈥檚 no one to turn to with her own grief and it鈥檚 slowly overwhelming her.聽
