Is Your SEO Agency Ripping You Off?
How to spot and avoid the top SEO scams.
In my decade of experience, I’ve spotted my fair share of SEO scams. Some scams are actually quite intricate, but none are as intricate as the algorithms developed to detect and penalize those who try to game the system. Believe it or not, some of these tactics actually work, but the results often times fade quickly and leave the clients worse off than if they did nothing at all. Unfortunately, there is much more to lose than your retainer. Even if you end up firing your scammy SEO agency, the negative aftermath of their toiling can linger for months, if not years. It’s time to start asking questions about what your SEO agency is actually doing.
In this blog I will teach you about the top SEO scams and how to avoid them.
Scam Number 1: Data Manipulation
This is by far the most common scam on the market. Slick talking snake oil salesman prey on victims who don’t have experience working with a real agency.
Here’s how the scam works: After the contract is signed the scammer adds the domain to a reporting portal and send automated keyword ranking reports to the client – essentially “setting it and forgetting it”. This part is not the scam since reporting is an important part of every SEO campaign. The problem is, many of these reporting tools can be manipulated by importing long-tail keywords which weren’t already being tracked in the software. Once the niche, longtail keywords are imported, then voila, a sudden spike in keyword rankings appears and it looks like the agency pulled off a brilliant maneuver when in fact they simply manipulated the rankings and the client is none the wiser.
How to check for it: The bad news is this scam is hard to detect without hiring an agency first. The good news is if they haven’t done anything on your account, reversing the black-hat strategy won’t be necessary. You can speak with their referrals or review case studies, but those could be fabricated. If you’re wondering about your current SEO agency, you should be leary if you don’t speak with an actual project manager to review the actions taken on the account or decipher the data they are sending you, you might be getting scammed.
2. Content Spinning
Content is, and always will be king. Providing original content requires a well trained and paid writing staff. Many scammers claim to create and publish high-quality content on a clients website, which is an important part of any SEO campaign, however, not all content is created equal.
Here’s how the scam works: Content is either copy-pasted from a reliable source or created once and slightly modified using content spinners and published on all their clients websites. Who cares as long as it works, right? Unfortunately Search Engines have been savvy to this technique since the Panda update. Don’t believe me? Check out Google’s policy on Duplicate Content.
How to check for it: Fortunately there are a cornucopia of free SEO tools out there which can help you audit your website for duplicate content. I recommend Siteliner or this Plagiarism Checker tool.
3. Link Farming
If your SEO agency is pitching backlinks as the answer to all your problems, you should raise an eyebrow. Yes, backlinks are a crucial part of good SEO strategy, but there are still agencies who try to game the system.
Here’s how the scam works: After you’ve paid your retainer, the agency turns around and submits your domain to a link farm which distributes your website across a network and voila, you’re websites now #1. If it sounds too good to be true, it is. The good news is, you’ll get a ton of backlinks and could potentially outrank competitors in the short run. Unfortunately, Google’s Penguin algorithm update identifies backlinks and attributes the quality of the links to the websites “trust score”. Good backlinks = higher trust score, whereas bad backlinks = poor trust score. Fixing this is costly since you’ll have to pay a professional review and remove all those spammy backlinks to your site. This can cause long-lasting harm to a domain and requires a significant amount of work to reverse the bad karma.
How to check for it: If you’re already a client of an agency incorporating a backlink strategy, you can use a tool like Ahrefs Backlink Checker to run a report on the backlinks to your website. You can also use a tool like Monitor Backlinks to identify the quantity and quality of backlinks. If you’re vetting an agency who is recommending a link building strategy you can run these reports on their website and current clients websites to better understand if they are implementing a white-hat link backlink strategy. You should also get a list of websites they plan to get backlinks from and find out how they plan to get you the links. Often times high-quality backlinks will require a level of PR or guest blogging to obtain them – work that scam artists can’t afford or don’t want to do.
4. Optimizing a completely separate site and making it look like your own
Good SEO tactics can be expensive and time consuming to implement. Agencies are always trying to figure out ways to retain clients without the high cost of operating a white-hat strategy. The solution is creating, managing and owning a version of the client’s site which is essentially taken hostage if the client ever wants to leave the agency. Here’s how it works: If a scammer is hired to optimize www.website.com, they will create a version of your website that looks identical to your site and put it on a subdomain or subdirectory.
Subdirectory: www.website.com/page.
Subdomain: www.page.website.com
Heres how the scam works: How this is done is not important, but what you need to know is the scammers have full control over the new site they have built. They might even use white-hat strategies to get this site to rank, which could potentially be quite beneficial. This part is not the scam. The scam is when the client decides they don’t want to renew a retainer and the agency pulls the site, effectively reversing all the work the client’s paid for.
How to check for it: You’ll need to read the fine print in your contract and make sure there’s a clause “in the event of a contract cancellation the client retains all work supplied throughout the life of the contract” or something along those lines. The best way to avoid this scam is to own your website domain and website hosting. You could purchase both of these through a provider like Godaddy and allow your SEO agency access to work in an environment owned by you – the client.
Note: Creating/managing a separate website is actually standard practice for most agencies so they don’t have to manage the client’s site in the event it goes down or gets hacked. Just because an agency creates a separate site, doesn’t mean they are scam artists.
In conclusion
The sad truth is the digital marketing industry is saturated with these types of scams which poisons the well for those of us who work hard to build a trustworthy reputation. It’s unethical and downright rude!
Share this article and help us put these scammers out of business.

Without These 3 Medical Marketing Tips, Your Clinical Sports Medicine Practice Could Fail
Read on to learn about what you must do to bring your clinical sports medicine practice from unknown to bustling with business.
For clinical sports medicine practices, one of your biggest challenges to being successful is lead generation. Lead generation is all about helping people to know you exist and getting customers to the door. How can you go from being unknown to having patients knocking on your practice door? In this blog, you’ll read about the three most important tips you need to grow your clinical sports medicine business.
1. SEO
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) refers to the marketing strategy required to get individuals to find your business on the first page of major search engines such as Yahoo, Google, and Bing. At Farotech, we work with many companies like yours, who tell us that they rank on these search engines because people find them when they type in the specific company name.
But the reality is that it’s not hard to be found by your own name. You want to focus on looking for clients who still don’t know that you exist. To get them to learn about your company, you must develop an SEO and content marketing strategy based on quality content production. Some marketing firms out there may tell you that they can develop a strategy for you without creating quality. RUN FROM THOSE COMPANIES AS FAST AS YOU CAN! The reality is that content is king when it comes to SEO.
Step 1: Start out by developing a list of keywords that people will search for.
Consult an SEO specialist to find out which keywords will have the highest search volume. If you’re a local company, we recommend that you add geographical modifiers to the keywords you’re selecting, because often the information you will get from an SEO company has to do with national campaigns.
Step 2: Write content.
Write blogs or pages on your website that contain at least 400 words. You should also write regularly.
Our recommendation is to write a minimum of once a week on your blog. When you do this, Google recognizes that you’re producing content consistently and begins to view you as a thought leader, and your content as authoritative.
Once Google realizes you’re a thought leader, your page begins to rank higher than pages that don’t produce content as often. So establishing your status as a thought leader is one of the most important things you can do for lead generation.
2. Having a CRM
A CRM is a location where you and your employees log in to enter all the client information that you have in one centralized portal. Long term, this becomes your Client-Relationship Management tool.
Every time you engage with your client, the information from that interaction should be there. Some companies make the mistake of having client-relationship tools only for active clients. A CRM or marketing software should be connected to each other as early on as during the sales (or “lead generation”) process.
A CRM will allow you to drop cookies on people’s computers when they come to your website for information. At that point, a clinical sports medicine company can track every engagement that user has with your website. If you don’t have this kind of tool, your competition will leave you behind very quickly because they have the information they need to reach out effectively and create leads, while you are left guessing about what to do next. So we encourage you to get a CRM as soon as possible!
3. Marketing Automation
So far we’ve brought people to your website through SEO, have been able to track their involvement with the website through CRM. The final step is to add marketing automation to the process, which occurs once a prospect’s information has been inputted into your database and begins to receive e-mails that are pre-written. These marketing automation e-mails should follow a general pattern.
The first should provide a brief overview. We recommend that if you can add a video to the first e-mail, do it.
The second e-mail usually introduces features and benefits about your products or services.
The third e-mail should be about the cost of procrastination, where you explain why they should not delay using your product or service.
The fourth e-mail should bring testimonials to their attention. These function to show that you are qualified to serve them and that people similar to them have had success because of your help.
The fifth e-mail should contain the next offer, which helps to qualify the lead a little bit better.
We hope that you have benefited from these marketing tips. These represent just a few of many types of medical marketing tips you can use to cultivate leads and make your clinical sports medicine company more well-known. What we’d like to know in the comments section below is: What tips have you used to create success? Do you have questions about other tips that you would like our experts at Farotech to answer?

Dental marketing online to double your traffic
What does SEO have to do with the number of hits on your website, and how can you optimize it: Learn SEO tricks and more!
Now with the internet as people’s go-to for learning about practically any service, it’s crucial that you develop your dental practice’s online profile to ensure your success. People won’t be able to find you, let alone choose you, if you haven’t created an online presence for yourself: that is to say, success doesn’t just rely on your quality of service, it also depends on your ability to articulate that quality to the world.
But what are the components of successful dental marketing online that will bring you a higher and higher volume of traffic to your site? Like any project, this takes time. It’s important to start with a plan that will gradually build you to where you want to be, so that you have a clear sense of your goals and how you will get there. It can be helpful to call on marketing experts to help you carry out these strategies on behalf of your practice. Here’s three tips to get you thinking:
Develop a Plan.
The first step you must take if you want to boost your practice’s traffic is to have a comprehensive plan for dental marketing online. Such a plan should include a list of your strategies (we recommend making a “mindmap”), and a timeline for when these will all occur.
Develop a SEO-friendly strategy.
SEO, standing for search engine optimization, is a must for every marketing campaign. All this means is that you incorporate techniques that will make it more likely for your website to come up when searched by Google. We recommend that you come up with a list of keywords (or word combinations that people use in search engines) that are likely to be the kinds of things people will be searching if they want your practice.
For example, if you reside in the Philadelphia area and you’re a family dental office, you might use the keyword “family dental in Philadelphia” a number of times within the written text of your website. Then, when people search this keyword or something close to it, it becomes more likely that you’ll come up!
Here are a few of the benefits if you contract us to help you with SEO:
Page SEO Cleanup: 35% of being found on the major search engines has to do with the functioning of your website, i.e. how fast it loads, how clean your code is, how efficient content management system is, etc. Since Google has had 3 major algorithm changes, we ensure that your site will comply with the current regulations and preferences.
Back Linking: The remaining 65% of being found is associated with how connected your website is, i.e. Google rewards the websites that are most linked to, as they prove to be a vital resource in the industry. Thus, it is important for you to be part of a quality network. We research and locate highly ranked dentistry-related websites that will be willing to link back to your site so that your search rank improves. The best way to do this is simply to request them to backlink to your website.
Farotech works to research and find highly ranked industry related websites that are willing to link back to your site and specific pages on your website to improve your search rank. We plan to work within the network you already exist in and build bridges, relationships and connections so that your charities, media outlets that are talking about you, and any other websites that mention your name are giving you full credit for the connection they have with you. The best way for them to provide this is by agreeing to backlink to your site.
Make Videos and Go Viral.
Videos can be an effective tool for dentists in marketing their services, especially as they are particularly applicable as a “how-to”. You can deliver quality, important information to your patients using real-time action in your office as material. Moreover, this is a chance as a dentist to tell them the best ways to carry out their own self-care.
For example, a myth-fact session might explain common (and mistaken) beliefs about dentistry or self-care, such as whether it’s recommended to gurgle fluoride, or what the true importance of flossing actually is. Such videos create a buzz about your company by building your reputation as an expert in the field. Not only that, but if it goes viral, you could have a lot more success than originally expected! The best part about videos is that they are a type of media that brings a lot more hits to your website. You’ll have to get a good video editor for this, of course, to make sure you’re producing the best quality.
Want more tips for dental marketing online? Dental marketing is a particular niche that Farotech specializes in, and we’d be happy to give you a consultation to help you on your way to the success you envision. You can call us today at 267.387.6620.

Not All Philadelphia Search Engine Optimization Companies are the Same (Video)
Our focus on innovations in SEO-based lead generation and conversion will transform your marketing.
  What is SEO?
SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization,” and is essentially the method and set of strategies used to achieve high search result rankings in the major search engines. When a user is online searching for a particular term, also known as “keywords”, a good SEO strategy will allow the major search engines to crawl your website and determine that it’s a good fit for what the user is searching.
TIP: Search Engine Optimization and search-marketing is ALWAYS changing!
For example, when a potential client searches for a keyword related to your business, you want to ensure that your site is on the first page of Google’s search results. If you have a great website to display your inventory of custom baby clothing, but when a user searches for “custom baby clothes,” your website doesn’t appear until the fifth page of search engine results …well then, you need a little boost in your SEO! Consider the fact that 75% of users never take the time to scroll past the first page of Google results. In short, SEO is a necessary and powerful tool that allows your business to achieve higher exposure online and drives traffic to your site via search results.
Did you know?
There are tons of fun facts about SEO, but here are a few of our favorite!
75% of quality SEO strategies are considered “off-page” and the remaining 25% is on-page strategies
91% of internet users in the U.S. use search weekly
75% of clicks come from the top 5 results on a search-engine result page (also know as a “SERP”)
Why Implement SEO?
Consumers are using the internet to look for the products and services that they need. And we’re not just talking about shopping online from large, national retailers. SEO is for local businesses too. It’s no surprise that 20% of Google’s monthly search volume is actually driven toward local business.
Meet your consumers where they are – ONLINE
Understand that 60% of searchers will click on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd result that appears from their search
Develop an SEO strategy that will get you into one of the top positions

As an SEO Philadelphia firm, we make it our business to achieve long-term, sustainable results for our clients. How Do Search Engines Work?: From Spiders to Web Surfers
Search engines – if you are like many Americans, then you probably use one almost every day, but you might sometimes find yourself wondering, how do search engines work? To explain better the inner workings of this everyday phenomenon, let’s go through a step by step of the search engine process, starting with spiders…
That’s right, spiders. Spiders are special software programs that a search engine uses to comb through the internet and compile lists of words found on individual Web sites. The process of building this list is called Web crawling.
As a spider’s Web crawling, it starts compiling lists from most visited sites first and then also collects every possible subsequent link while indexing along the way. This gives us a much clearer understanding of the World Wide Web, since a spider essentially creates a strand of connecting pages and words, each made up of large amounts of information.
To better understand how do search engines work, one form of information that spiders are particularly fond of is something called a meta tag. Meta tags allow the owner or creator of a particular internet page to specify how they want their page to be classified. For example, an internet page about traveling to Costa Rica may include meta tags such as “Costa Rica travel,” “travelling in Costa Rica,” or other forms and variations of that same concept.
While crawling the web, information gathered by spiders is stored according to ranking. That is, each word found on a page is assigned a weight that might be determined by the number of times it is found in a page, whether it is used in a heading, a link, meta tag, or if it appears near the top of the page.
To save storage space, each piece of information is encoded, or condensed into a smaller form. After this occurs, the piece of information is indexed by a hash table. In hashing, each piece of information is assigned a numerical value according to its weight in relation to other words, and then stored accordingly. When wondering how do search engines work, it is this part of the process that creates the index your search engine utilizes to access the information you want.
Next, the search engine process requires you, the user, to build a query. This is whatever search you may enter in your search engine browser, be it Google, Yahoo, Bing, or AskJeeves.
Using literal, concept-based, or natural-language queries, search engines will organize matches to your search words according to all literal definitions, related pages of interest, or how you would ask a question of your neighbor, respectively.
We hope that this lesson gave you all the insight you need regarding how one of our greatest technological inventions is able to get us the answers we want all at the touch of our fingertips. Just remember though, if somebody asks you “how does a search engine work?”, tell them that it all starts with spiders.

The Best SEO Tools You Never Knew About: Link-Building
What are the Best SEO Tools?
When it comes to SEO, one of the best tools is link-building! Inbound links are a marketer’s best friend. Given that off-page SEO (as opposed to on-page SEO) accounts for the majority of your site’s ability to rank for particular keywords, building relevant links to your website from authoritative external sources isn’t exactly something you should leave to chance. In fact, this is one of the best seo tools to add to your comprehensive SEO strategy!
So, we get it. Link-building is important. However, it’s also a little tricky. Considering that receiving a helpful inbound link is actually the decision of the website linking to you, it is easy to understand how link-building isn’t something you have complete control over. It’s one of those SEO tools that requires a little extra persistence and dedication. It’s not something that happens by simply hoping for the best. So how can you take control of this tool that is seemingly out of your hands? Well, read on because I’m about to tell you!
If you’re new to the concept of an inbound link, this could be the best SEO tool out there for you to learn. All set? Great! Now read below to find out 5 great tactics to improve your business’ search engine optimization:
1. Submission to site directories
So, here’s a link-building tactic you do have complete control over. With that being said, it’s also one of the tools that provides the least SEO mojo. That is because inbound links from website directories don’t offer a high level of authority. But, this strategy can still be somewhat helpful and the ease of submitting your website to them to jumpstart your link-building efforts makes it totally worth it! This is the kick-off to your link-building efforts!
2. Always develop quality content (“link bait”)
You do have complete control over your ability to create interesting, relevant content that others will be naturally inclined to link to it. Even though this type of content sometimes gets a bad name (it’s referred to as “link bait”) because it is content specifically created with the goal of generating links, it is actually quite a solid SEO strategy. Content that typically makes great link bait is naturally the type of quality content that gets shared a lot. This often is research, viral videos, statistics, infographics, and content about controversial topics – and there certainly is nothing wrong with taking advantage of inbound links when you truly have developed great content. You deserve it. A business blog is the perfect platform for this content.
3. Utilize the power of networking
This might really be the best SEO tool of all! Networking and relationship-building does take quite a bit of time, but it is a very effective way to keep your business and your content fresh and always in front of the eyes of those who may be interested in linking to you. Start by making a list of the authoritative bloggers in your industry who have helpful, highly trafficked and relevant websites. Next, start building good relationships with them by linking to their content and interacting with their posts, etc. Once you’re on their radar, they will certainly be more interested in linking back to you if you also have content that would be helpful to their audience. It’s nice to have friends on the web!
4. Optimizing your social media presence
This tactic can get a little tricky when talking about using these best SEO tools. Many social media platforms do use “nofollow tags,” which negates any SEO juice from links on your social media profiles or from links that you share through your posts and updates. But, ultimately, these links are still from an external source and that can never hurt your off-page SEO efforts. After all, the ultimate goal to get visitors to your website. It doesn’t necessarily matter exactly how they found it! So never forget your social media strategy.
5. Don’t forget the power of guest blogging
External content that you create as a guest blogger on someone else’s site is probably the most effective way to generate quality inbound links to your own website. Sure, it requires more time and commitment on your part because it requires additional unique content creation, but the results are lasting and well-worth the work. Think about it: any business that truly understands the power of inbound marketing is always trying to provide a steady flow of fresh content. You can offer them a service by providing new content and helping them fill their blogging queue with valuable content. Wouldn’t you jump at the chance to publish a guest post from a fellow qualified blogger who offered you their expertise and content? If you choose to guest blog, it really is a win-win. They get fresh content with little effort and as the author, you get control over the anchor text and URL’s for the keywords you’re targeting. Now you’re taking back control!
What are some other powerful link-building tactics you like to use? I’d love to hear from you!

3 Marketing Campaign Goals Every Company Should Have
If you want to succeed in marketing your business, it’s essential to form and implement a holistic and logical strategy. You should have short term and long term goals clearly defined and established. Communicate these goals with your team so everyone can stay on the same page and work as a team. Effective communication will guarantee that all of your goals are met by each department moving forward. In our expert opinion, there are three key marketing campaign goals that every business should have. You can always build on this foundation later, but make sure to incorporate these goals into your strategy.
3 Key Marketing Campaign Goals
1. Focus on Targeted Traffic
Many companies focus on getting more traffic to their websites. But just any non targeted web traffic is not going to convert into leads, and ultimately sales. This approach will not help you to grow your business. What you need to do instead is to focus on attracting visitor who are actually interested in what you have to offer. This targeted traffic will have a much higher potential for generating leads and eventually sales.
A good indicator of non targeted traffic is to look at your bounce rate for different pages on your website. If you notice a particular page has a higher than normal bounce rate than the rest of your site, this probably means one of two things:
The web traffic that is coming to that page is non targeted, and therefore not interested in the content (what you offer) on the page.
The information that is on the page is not useful to those who are landing on the page.
For the sake of this discussion we are focussing on possibility number one. As you decide what sort of targeting strategy to use, beware of gimmicks and tricks. What you need to do is work on creating a white hat (best practice) strategy and put it into practice. Focus on getting more relevant inbound links, publishing more blog articles with relevant keywords, and guarantee your website is SEO friendly. Most importantly, practice patience. Marketing campaign goals can’t be achieved overnight, but with time you can expand your reach.
2. Become an Industry Authority
Becoming an industry authority, is exactly what it sounds like. You will become an expert in your field. The most important part of this is that your potential clients, recognize you as an industry authority. People buy from people or companies that they trust. One of the best ways to build trust with your possible customers is to share your valuable knowledge with them.
One for the first ways to grow your authority is by publishing blogs that showcase your knowledge. Business blogging is required if you want to be seen as an industry authority. Here are some of our favorite tips for blogging and building credibility:
First, you need to have fresh, interesting, and relevant content being posted on a regular basis.
Second, put on an event or conference about a topic you know a lot about. Link up that event to your social media and you’ll kill two birds with one stone – lots of exposure for your business and expansion of your social reach.
Third, guest blog for other industry authorities. If you can fulfill your marketing campaign goals partially by connecting your name with some of the bigger names out there, it will go a long way.
Fourth, make sure that you are actively engaging on social media. Post your blogs, share information related to your industry, and interact with those who are also seen as thought leaders in your industry.
3. Expand Your Local Search Influence
A lot of companies direct their attention to keywords that only relate to their industry. You must also be ranking well for local search keywords. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a small or large business, national or international. People are still going to search using local keywords, so you don’t want to miss out on that search traffic.
Form a plan for local marketing campaign goals and stick to it. You’ll be surprised with how much of a positive impact this will make. Build a foundation for your presence on local search results by using a variety of methods including local listings, maps, local social media, local review sites, and news.
This is no means meant to be an exhaustive list of marketing goals. When developing your marketing strategy, these are good starting points, but make sure you put some thought into the specific needs of your company when developing your goals.

Improve Site Traffic With Proven On-Page Strategies
Well, this is the third and final blog post in my recent series on how to really improve site traffic in light of Google’s ever-changing rules and standards. I could probably write 10 more blogs dedicated to just this topic, but for now, let’s focus on another very important factor when considering how to improve site traffic and learning what kinds of strategies are truly effective for solid SEO.
Point #3 to Improve Site Traffic: On-Page Factors
Something happened about 2 years ago that really turned the search world on its head. Companies began to figure out that there were a number of things that you could do outside of your own webpage to increase your search engine rankings. What happened next essentially turned into an online gold rush! SEO companies were just building tons and tons of links and doing whatever necessary to push as much “link juice” to their clients’ websites. But then one day, these companies woke up to a terrible new reality. It was called the Google Penguin update. And now for the first time, companies lost their rankings for essentially over-optimizing their website (or even worse, they were penalized for linking with toxic links).
To Improve Site Traffic, Shift Your Focus
Now, despite the lesson that so many companies have learned, SEO companies still spend the large majority of their time doing link building and they don’t spend the crucial time to clean up their website’s on-page SEO. It is absolutely insane that this is a reality, but if I was to estimate, 90% of our potential clients have a website that itself is very poorly optimized. Optimized title tags, header tags, and metadata are not enough. Keywords must now be naturally incorporated into the quality content on your site pages in the appropriate way.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this little blog mini-series on developing a great SEO campaign. Remember from Monday’s blog – you have to remain flexible to adjust to the ever-changing rules of Google. On Tuesday we discussed the importance of identifying and going after long tail keywords. And, of course, today we explained why it’s also important to clean up your site’s on-page SEO factors.
If you’re looking for a company to take care of your SEO for you, look no further than our qualified SEO consultants right here at Farotech. We know this industry inside and out and we abide by the 3 guidelines listed above to offer you the very best in SEO management.

The Trick to Tracking Success: Key Marketing Metrics Examples
As a marketing company that has been working in this industry and servicing clients across a wide variety of fields for years, we feel we have some pretty decent insight as to what the average client expects. One thing we’ve heard repeatedly through the years in the common complaint that the last marketing company the client worked with failed to produce timely or practical key marketing metrics that proved their program was really working. No one wants to feel like they’re being taken advantage of and while many marketing companies out there are probably doing great work, they’re not proving it to their clients. So they’re losing them.
“73% of executives don’t believe that marketers are focused enough on results.”
What Are the Key Marketing Metrics Clients Really Care About?
Well, there are plenty of different stats and measurements you could spend time researching and digging up, but when it comes down to it, clients care about the key marketing metrics that indicate your program’s impact on their bottom line. Here are a few simple, but important examples that many marketing companies forget to include in reporting.
Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC)
This all-important metric determines the average price spent by a company in order to acquire one new client or customer. This can be calculated by adding marketing and sales costs together over a 1 month period and dividing by the number of new clients accumulated in the same period. Because numbers can fluctuate significantly from month to month, it is helpful to keep track of this metric regularly in order to get a more accurate average over a longer time span – something more like 12 month’s worth of business. Obviously, the goal for any company is to keep their CAC as low as possible, while still maintaining a good rate of customer acquisition.
YOUR Percentage of the CAC
In other words, take the total dollar amount your client pays your company to do their marketing and divide that by their total marketing/sales costs (as calculated above). This will give you the percentage of the CAC that your agency is responsible for. Be careful with analyzing this metric. It is an important one to honestly be able to share with your client, but be sure to also inform them of what the results might mean. If your company’s percentage of the CAC is high, it may mean that your client is spending too much with you on the marketing services you’re providing. However, it could also simply mean that on their end, your client’s company is failing to perform well in their sales division. Or, it could simply show that the client is at a unique phase in their company’s growth where investment in new marketing techniques is important for future plans.
Marketing Driven Client Percentage
This metric is even more helpful in really being able to prove the success of your company’s marketing efforts. Since you more than likely have a detailed tracking system that reports on leads generated, you can determine the number of new client acquisitions that were directly originated by the work of your team. Develop a ratio showing the number of new clients you’re responsible for a period of time over the total number of new customers your client gained overall through all means available. This percentage will vary depending on the nature of the client and what kind of internal sales process they have in place, but the bottom line is that you want to be able to show your agency’s significant impact in the overall efforts.
The purpose of researching and showing your clients key marketing metrics is to #1) develop a long-term, trusting relationship with them and #2) prove your value as a marketing tool that your client simply can’t survive without!

Depending on the results we receive from our analyses we continue the process by conducting a series of fixes for your current website problems. We will clearly explain what these problems are and give you a time estimate of how long we think they will take to resolve.

Tired of Old, Ineffective SEO Ideas for Physical Therapy Practices? Try This!
The New Set of SEO Ideas for Physical Therapy Practices
Wed developers and marketing strategists know how important it is for businesses to have successful SEO campaigns if they want to make any sort of a name for themselves online. Considering how popular the Internet is becoming for searches of all kinds, most businesses will agree that having a strong presence online is a key part of their marketing campaigns.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) has been one of the leading methods of developing a successful internet marketing campaign for the past several years. Many providers have held to a more traditional approach and continued with the same SEO ideas for physical therapy campaigns since they began. The truth is, there is a new, more effective way to make the most of the dollars spent on SEO efforts.
How it Works
The change comes in the types of keywords that practices pay for to be optimized. Many providers focus on single word keywords. If they are focusing on these types of keywords in a legal way, it can be difficult to create much momentum. The most important SEO idea for physical therapy offices is to make sure that whatever SEO company they hire is using best practices and doing everything they do legally. The problem with focusing on shorter keywords is the fact that these are all highly competitive. To make any progress in a campaign using only these words, companies will need to spend more time and write more pages for each one; meaning more money from the client and fewer options.
New SEO ideas for physical therapy practices involve the use of long tail keywords. These are keywords that are in fact more like key phrases because they are made up of more than three words. These words are less targeted and therefore less competed for amongst SEO strategists. Using this approach allows a client to spend less money, make the most of more keywords in less time and see outstanding results.
Time to Make a Change
Farotech is a web development and internet marketing company that has successfully begun to utilize these new SEO ideas for physical therapy offices across the country. We are able to give our clients more variety in keyword choices for less money every single month. Our success is measured by the results we are able to provide and we are proud to have helped multiple physical therapy practices rank number one on leading search engines.

SEO Tips for Beginners – 3.5 Myths to Know
Over the past few years, a number of myths and misconceptions have emerged about how search engines operate and crawl websites. For SEO beginners, this causes confusion and frustration about what’s required to perform effectively. I’ve done my best to explain the real story behind these myths. If you are looking for SEO tips for beginners, you’ve come to the right place. Read on…
1. Search Engine Submission
During the late 1990’s, search engines had submission forms that were part of the optimization process. Site owners would tag their site and pages with keyword information, and submit to search engines. After the submission was received, a bot would crawl and include those resources in their index.
Unfortunately, this process did not scale very well, the submissions were spammed often and the practice eventually gave way to purely crawl-based engines. Since 2001, search “submissions” is virtually useless. All popular engines (Google, Yahoo and Bing), publicly note they rarely use “submission” URL’s and that the best practice is to earn links from other sites. To be clear, you can still sometimes find submission pages; however, they are essentially useless. It would be unlikely to earn “link juice” using this “submission” process.
2. Meta Tags
At one time, similiar to search engine submission, meta tags were an important part of the SEO process. You would include the keywords you want your site to rank for, but as you can image this process was quickly spammed to death. This process is now eventually dropped by virtually all search engines as an important ranking signal. Other tags, like the title tag and meta description tag are a critical piece of successful SEO. Lastly, the meta bot tag is an important tool for controlling spider access. But SEO is not “all about meta tags”, anymore. 3. Keyword Density (stuffing)
Engines bots are quite smart. More recently, Google’s Panda upgrade included sophisticated machine learning algorithms to combat spammy links and low value data at a scale never witnessed before online. That said, a persistent myth is SEO revolves around the concept that keyword density – is used by the search engine for relevancy and ranking calculations. Keyword stuffing is not effective. Ignore it and use keywords intelligently and with usability in mind. The value from an extra 10 instances of your keyword on the page is far less than earning one good editorial link from a source that doesn’t think you’re a search spammer.
3.5. Paid Search Helps Bolster Organic Results
It’s time for the most common SEO conspiracy theory: spending on PPC advertising improves your organic rankings. In all my experience, tests and case studies this has never been proven nor has it ever been a probable explanation for effects in organic results. Google, Yahoo and Bing all have very effective walls in their organizations to prevent precisely this type of crossover. That being said, we have seen anecdotal evidence that bidding on keywords already organically ranked can help increase your organic click thru rate.

SEO Ideas for Physical Therapists – Here’s a Few You’ve Never Heard!
If you own or manage a PT office and you’re looking for SEO ideas for physical therapists, you’ve come to the right place. Farotech is a leader in SEO methodology and we’ve been providing outstanding online marketing services to a wide variety of clients for years. We’re specifically proud of the work we do with our clients in the medical field, including orthopedic offices, dental practice, and physical therapists.
If you think you’ve heard it all when it comes to SEO techniques, you’re in for a nice surprise. Today we’ve decided to focus on one particular aspect of SEO marketing and we’d venture to guess that you’ll walk away having learned something new! (That is, of course, after the initial confusion wears away!)
SEO Ideas for Physical Therapists
Our #1 Tip: Forget About Search Engines
That’s right – we said it. Forget about them! Ok…are you confused yet? You may be wondering how in the world it is possible and WHY in the world it would be recommended to forget about search engines while trying to achieve SEARCH ENGINE optimization. But before you dismiss us as crazy, hear us out…
Yes, SEO techniques and keyword strategies are certainly important, but we truly believe that the most important aspect of your online marketing is your ability to connect with your potential patients. So when you sit down to adjust your web site’s formatting or to write new content for a page, think FIRST about your patients and SECOND about search engines.
Consider the following questions:
What are my potential patients really looking for when they’re searching online?
What kinds of information would they find most helpful on my site?
Who is my target audience and how can I best connect with them?
Will people visiting my site feel welcomed and invited to visit my practice?
Will their questions about PT, staff, facilities, costs, insurance, etc be answered?
Yes, we think it’s important to optimize your site. But we think you should base your optimization decisions on what’s best for your clientele.
It’s Time to Sit Back and Remember…
Sometimes marketing has a way of taking you back to the basics. After long weeks of managing a staff of therapists, working towards new certifications, updating office protocols, ordering new equipment, etc., it’s good to have to ask yourself the simple questions, such as, “Why does my practice exist in the first place?”
Remember Your Purpose: When you get right down to it, of course, the reason for pursuing SEO ideas for physical therapists is probably the same reason you opened your doors, to begin with – because you want to be able to help as many patients as possible to achieve a better quality of life through physical therapy. Your purpose as a business revolves around helping patients. Keeping that thought in the forefront of your mind will take your marketing efforts a long way!
Remember Who Pays the Bills: Let’s face it – Google can seem like the king of the web and in many ways, it is! But does Google write your practice a check every month so you can stay in business? No! The patients who you provide services for are the ones who pay your bills. So when considering SEO ideas for physical therapists, remembering the needs and priorities of your patients is a great place to start. Write your content geared toward them. Organize your site to make it user-friendly for them. Include access to information that would be helpful for them.
We think you get the picture. Hopefully it now all makes sense as to why you need to forget about search engines before you can truly master them. Good luck!
