Yennefer thinks Jaskier’s a catty twit (accurately) but also she thinks Geralt has a really good thing going with having his own soundtrack playing for him at all times. she decides to spend a rather large sum hiring Jaskier to follow her around at a few events playing appropriate ominous and/or seductive music
Jaskier think’s Yennefer’s a catty witch (accurately) but a gig’s a gig and he wanted into a couple of those parties anyway so he goes along with it
And it turns out Yennefer’s actually highly entertaining to watch especially when Jaskier lures her into the vicinity of his personal enemies and he gets to watch them damn near piss their pants
And it turns out Jaskier’s actually highly entertaining to listen to especially when Yennefer has him write devastatingly reputation-ruining “this is totally not about you and you can’t prove it’s slander in a court of law” songs about her personal enemies
After a while Geralt realizes he hasn’t seen Jaskier in an unusually long time, hunts them down, and is like “what have you done with my bard”
Yennefer just goes “my bard now.”

Maybe we should talk about how The Witcher starts with Geralt telling Renfri about how even the people he saves/protects are deathly afraid of him and all anyone ever sees in him is a violent, dangerous beast BUT THEN COMES JASKIER who is never afraid of Geralt and, on multiple occasions, legit runs to him for protection because he trusts that the Witcher will keep him safe.
