I attended a lecture not too long ago from a well-known animator, who talked about the technique of "digitizing humans" for animation back in the 70s.
Well, that wasn't quite what they did in the original Tron, but the comparison was too amusing to ignore. So, whilst listening to the lecture, I sketched Flynn trying to explain the concept to Tron.
Yeah, that’s what we’re calling this. Give me a second:
Ahsoka, in the middle of the fight with Vader on Malachor, gets dumped Back In Time, right into the TPM battle between Maul, Qui-Gon, and Obi-Wan. She takes about two seconds to clock what’s going on, most of that delay being recovery from dealing with Vader. She doesn’t recognize Qui-Gon or Obi-Wan, because one died when she was four and the other currently looks Very Baby, but she does recognize Maul, and lbr there’s very little that would stop Ahsoka from taking initiative to beat Maul’s ass on sight.
So that’s handled in trope-typical manner, all is well, they run into Baby Anakin who just won a battle for them despite being too short to see over the countertop, and Ahsoka’s like “Aw, a small child, he’s adorable,” and trying very hard not think about the last time she saw Anakin and how he was trying very hard to unalive her, AND THEN her bond with him snaps back into being.
It’s a weird Force Bullshit thing. The training bond never actually got cut, it just went numb and dead and, from her perspective, it was a free-floating tattered thing that no longer connected to anything.
Except the person it connects to is right there and, without her control, the bond latches on… in reverse. So now she’s the master and he’s the padawan.
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are both very ????? about that but a ‘spontaneous’ training bond that pops up with a stranger (who fought down a darksider with a concerning level of knowledge regarding how the specific individual fights) and the Chosen One (who just saved a planet and has said planet’s leader’s fondness) is uhhhhhhhhhhh concerning.
But also like. The Force approves so what can they even do about it?
ANYWAY Ahsoka takes on Anakin as Padawan and nobody trusts her.
(Jury’s out as to whether or not she also develops a similarly ‘spontaneous’ Force Bond of a more equal nature with Obi-Wan, since he and Anakin basically shared her training.)
In Descent, Jonas Quinn risks his life to save SG-1 by swimming into a flooded section of the mothership and releasing the controls allowing our heroes access to the ship's landing bay.
“Corin Nemec is able to hold his breath for over a minute-and-a-half, which surprised the hell out of all of us,” laughs producer Peter DeLuise, who also directed the episode. “I was holding my breath while watching him and I couldn't believe how long he was able to stay under the water.”
Paul Mullie continues, “Peter shot this take that followed Corin all the way down the corridor. He swam into the room and started playing with these controls. Corin moved a bunch of discs around and then he swam around to the other side and did the same thing. It was one continuous shot and it lasted almost two minutes. We said, 'We have to use this shot. There is no way the audiences are going to believe that he did this unless we show an uninterrupted take. Unfortunately, one of the discs fell out of Corin's hand, so there's a moment in the episode where we had to cut away to do an insert. It's going to look like we tried to strech the scene out so that it would seem more heroic that his character stayed underwater for that long, but, in fact, Corin actually did.”

High contrast colour bash of yesterday's Lairre sketch. I always imagined that scene to have the light reflect off her backside, filtering down on her through a canopy of trees overhead - and thus casting her face mostly in shadow. That high-contrast idea alone made this colour bash a lot of fun to mess around with.
Freaks playing a visual novel: omg i know exactly which classical painting this reminds me off.
It's me, I'm freaks.
(Slay the Princess is SO GOOD i highly encourage people to play it. The THEMES.)
