The fashion fairy

Desiree Gruber is a fashion publicist and the head of the PR firm Full Picture. She's also an executive producer of Project Runway and the wife of actor Kyle MacLachlan.

The Miami native started her career in the music business, working at EMI Records and several smaller record companies before arriving at the publicity powerhouse Rogers & Cowan in 1991. Working under PR impresario Fran Curtis, Gruber handled PR for fashion clients like Victoria's Secret, Elite Models, and the Limited as well as a handful of film (Miramax) and music (U2) clients. By 1997, she was an SVP; two years later, she left R&C to found her own agency, Full Picture, which now services clients from offices in New York and LA.

Over the years, Desiree Gruber has worked with a long list of clients at Full Picture. She's handled of fashion and beauty companies (like Victoria's Secret, Revlon, Stuart Weitzman, Barneys, and Frederic Fekkai's salons) as well as provided personal representation for the likes of Heidi Klum and Naomi Campbell. In 2004, Gruber expanded beyond PR when Project Runway debuted on Bravo. Originally conceived by Harvey Weinstein when he was at Miramax, he later brought the idea to Gruber and her client Heidi Klum. The three have served as executive producers since, although in 2008, the show moved from Bravo to Lifetime.
