also, if we were limited in past games to 2 slots players would rarely get to see relationships/interactions between companions of the same class! Varric and Cole, Anders and Merrill, Lelian and Zevran, etc etc. All of these are sacrificed if we choose balanced gameplay in Da4
only being able to bring 2 companions in dragon age 4 is a ridiculous decision I can’t believe was approved.
A balanced party with at least one of each class has always been important strategically. In the past, you had a spare slot that allowed you to bring companions of your own class without sacrificing gameplay.
With only two slots you are forced to choose between a balanced party and utilizing companions that share your class. If you choose a party with all classes, a chunk of companions will be unavailable to you. If you choose to utilize companions of your own class, combat (especially on higher difficulty) will be seriously affected
