Hellebore and Poppy

My sister is expecting another child and so many of my old schoolmates are expecting right now, which feels weird haha. I'm very happy for them but I also feel complicated feelings about this subject. always feel like I have to have good reasons to justify not having them rather than the other way around, and that is so difficult. I never wanted children myself, but it's also not as black and white. I can see the beauty of having them, even more as I grow older, and I love seeing good parents raising beautiful people. I know some people that got kids since I was a teen and it's wonderful to see them grow and even from a distance I feel so connected and at the same time very distant. A lot of my art is also deeply inspired by this subject and how beautiful and special it is, and also the love I have for my own mother. Maybe in a different life I would have been a good parent, but I don't think I would be in this life, I personally can't offer them the life that I think they deserve and what I personally deserve. Do I worry about missing out on something beautiful? Yes sometimes, but I accept that this choice can come with difficult feelings sometimes, like many of our choices in life.

You know, when Crystal first shows up, she's mean, snappy, sarcastic - echoes of her old self. The first time the mask breaks - the first time we see her genuine self, her kindness - is when she gets the vision of Becky. And her first instinct, on seeing the horrible vision of a little girl in trouble, is to insist that they help.

How many times has she been brushed off, when she saw something and wanted to help? How many times has she been ignored, laughed at, accused of being crazy or having an overactive imagination? How many times has she been stopped from helping, to the point where her only option to push people away, be mean, so they'll get out of her way - or at least give an outlet for her rage?

Who wouldn't be angry?
