Facts That You Might Not Be Aware About F1 Races
There is no doubt that Formula One is of the highest class and the most elite single-seater auto racing in the world. This racing competition is owned by the Formula One Group and is sanctioned by FIA – Federation Internationale de I’ Automobile.
The Formula one as the name suggests has set of rules which are supposed to be followed by all the participants’ cars. A particular Formula One season comprises of a series of races commonly called as ‘Grand Prix.’ These races are held all over the globe on purpose-built circuits and public roads.
Formula One cars are the world’s fastest regulated road course racing cars. The cars underwent major transitions such as wider tyres, wider fronts, rear wings in 2017 which resulted in a boost in their speed limits (approximately 375 km/p).
This championship is popular worldwide with the sport’s traditional base in Europe. Discussed below are some of the facts which a sports enthusiast may or may not be aware about-
#1-Drivers are now fitter
As compared to drivers in the past, drivers today are fitter in their own unique way. They are lean and small mainly because of the weight of the car. Additionally, the physical side becomes easier to manage due to power steering.
Back in 1980’s and 1990’s the cars did not have power steering but gradually as the sport evolved the feature of power steering became a crucial part of participants’ cars. This is one main reason why drivers in the past were in different physical shape. Back then, the drivers needed strong muscles to drive the heavy cars.
#2- F1 cars resemble horses
If ever a F1 driver has ridden a horse they will find similarities in horse riding and this sport. They say that just like horses have their own minds and it is difficult to control them, similarly race cars are alive all by themselves.
A driver would agree to the fact that the rubber tyres change with changing weather as different temperatures have an impact on the track and the track temperature naturally changes on its own. Besides, the cars have their own quirks which mean one cannot really predict what’s beneath you.
You have to be pretty quick to adjust with your driving style because the car does its own thing pretty fast. The exceptional quality that all top drivers possess is that they can handle such changes which occur every second on the track brilliantly and the rest are not that quick enough.
#3- F1 racing is a completely different trip
If you ever meet a F1 driver ask them how it feels to drive a Formula 1 car? Well, it feels completely different from driving a normal car for starters because of the difference in speed of course.
The F1 cars drive at a speed of 300 km/h and above. However, it is tricky to handle the car while approaching a corner because you have to slow down and adjust the brake and come out flying at the exit.
All you can hear the drivers saying is that it is a completely unique experience. This statement lures you into experiencing this kind of thrill. And, if you wish to experience the same then all you have to do is search for an events company in and around your vicinity.
A company which provides services like formula one driving simulators so that you can enjoy this adventurous and exciting sport. Besides, some of these companies have brilliant packages with best equipments to make the experience realistic.
#4- The Best drivers have a sixth sense
Once Lewis Hamilton was queried, ‘what was in his mind while turning at the corner?’  He replied that he did not know and it just happened. Well, his experience plays a huge role here and his power of vision. He probably has 180 degree vision which helps him to see the corner, calculate the distance and the speed.
His mind grasps all possible information and calculates all of them and that’s how he knows what he needs to do and we see the glimpse of it on the laps. This may sound difficult to interpret but that’s how naturally driving comes to you when you have good practice.
Today, the drivers get additional expert assistance from performance engineers, start engineers and car engineers. Drivers constantly receive guidance from the pit crew which helps them to focus on the drive and ensure timely maintenance of the car.  Besides, drivers need significant amount of practice, hard work and presence of mind in order to make way through those dangerous corners, cover those huge laps and nail the breathetaking fly in the exit.
The right combination of all the above activities helps the driver to lift the black and white checkered flag.

Three Formula One Women Drivers of All Time
Ever since the inception of the World Championship in 1950, there are very few, in fact countable, number of female Formula One drivers in the history of the sport. Overall, only five women racing drivers have ever entered the Grand Prix at least once and few female test drivers have been in contract with the Formula One teams. There are few fortunate female drivers who have participated in the non-competition testing using formula one driving simulator and evaluation sessions with the Formula One teams.
In the year 2012, Williams signed a British racer Susie Wolff as their development and test driver. She later on went ahead to become the first woman to take part in the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
Lately, the Formula One teams are willingly signing female drivers. A Colombian driver Tatiana Calderon was signed in by Sauber as their development driver for 2017 season. In the 2018 season, she was promoted as a test driver.
Here is a list of top three women drivers in the history of Formula One.
#3: Divina Galica
Divina Galica is a British sportswoman, has an MBE (British order of chivalry) to her name and has competed in four Winter Olympics as a skier. These are her credentials apart from her racing career.
She took up racing as a second career choice after she astounded everyone with her driving skills when she was invited to participate in a celebrity auto race. Divina was then brought into the British Shellsport International Group 8 series in 1976.
After her promising performances in the domestic series, Whiting decided to enter Divina for that year’s British Grand Prix.
During the start of the 1978 Formula One season, Divina used her opportunity wisely and replaced Hesketh for Olympus Cameras. However, she failed to qualify for the 308E in the season’s first two races. Divina later made her second grand entrance in the season with her own M23 and successfully finished in the 7th place.
She later shifted her interests towards Thundersports S2000 and truck racing and then became the director of iRacing.com in 2005, leaving the Vice President role of Skip Barber Race Series.
#2: Desire Wilson
Desire Randall Wilson hails from South Africa and has a grandstand at Brands Hatch named after her for her impeccable achievements. As she was entitled to become the only woman to ever win a Formula One race of any kind, when she won at the Brands Hatch in the short-lived British Aurora F1 Championship in 1980.
Till date, she is the only woman racer to have the license of driving in a CART IndyCars event, and holding an FIA Super License (which basically enabled her to race at the highest possible level).
From 1978, Desire Wilson was recognised as the most accomplished woman racing driver in the world. She also competed in CARTS and sports car racing. Wilson is married to the road course architect, Alan Wilson.
A book named ‘Driver by Desire’ was published, which basically documents her life as a racing driver. After retiring from racing, she made sure to maintain her presence in the sport through her husband Alan Wilson’s circuit consultancy.
#1: Giovanna Amati
Giovanna Amati was a women racing driver in Formula One World Championship in the 1992/93 season. This Italian star was born with a silver spoon, to the actress Anna Maria Pancani and industrial film owner Giovanni Amati.
Before she entered the world of Formula One, she made news for all the wrong reasons. When she was 20 years old, she was kidnapped by three gangsters and was returned after 75 days of captivity for a $933,000 ransom back in 1978.
In the year 1992, Brabham signed Amati to partner Eric van De Poele after they were unable to get the F3000 driver Nakaya as he was not granted a super license by FIA (The International Automobile Federation).
Amati, at the South African track, failed to set a good qualification time. Later in Mexico, she again failed to qualify for the second consecutive time. She again disappointed everyone in Brazil as she was unable to qualify and was sacked by the team. She was then replaced by Damon Hill.

Ideas For Building A Thriving Team
For any individual, nothing is more revitalising than working towards a common goal along with other like-minded colleagues who are equally passionate. It not only gives them meaning and fulfillment but it also inspires them to create the same feeling of accomplishment for others.
For instance, consider the following two stories.
The first story is from the show Mad Men where employees are overworked, management and bosses used their power ruthlessly and everything is pandering towards faster and cheaper solutions. To explain precisely, everyone hates their job. Such type of workplace culture exists even today, in small businesses and start-ups too.
The second story emerges from the ashes of the first story. Due to ever-growing technology and the growing understanding of work-life balance, companies are embracing new culture and are doing things differently. With improved company culture, there will be significant growth in employee engagement, performance and productivity.
Building such a culture in your company will take precision and vision. It will also require guidance from leaders who have achieved it in their organisation. Organising team building events for your employees and encouraging open communication will only make your team perform better. You can engage them in some F1 activities that are specially designed for improving team building and and productivity of your employees.
We have 9 ideas from different thinkers, leaders and entrepreneurs for building a thriving team. We hope these perspectives act as building blocks and help you build a strong foundation and mindset for a culture that thrives regardless of the time and technology used.

3: The Power of Vulnerability
Brene Brown reminds every young entrepreneur the worth of revisiting the fact that nothing beneficial comes without vulnerability. This is especially true when it comes to building a team, forming bonds and understanding how to work with each other.
4: You Don’t Create a Culture
In one of his short essays, Jason Fried tried to explain to us the difference between a real and artificial workplace culture. As he rightly said, “Real cultures are built over time, and are the results of actions, reactions and truth.” Any real culture will look and feel beautiful and authentic.
5: The Culture of Netflix
According to the CEO of Netflix, Reed Hastings, “The main company values are the behaviour and skill sets of their valued employees.” Companies should not only abide by the words integrity, communication and honesty, but also prove it with their vibrant actions.
6: Ben Chestnut on Creative Mornings
Ben Chestnut, the founder of Mailchimp, says that what he learned as a manager is that if you don’t love what you do, then you rather quit. And this is what he implemented when building Mailchimp’s culture.
7: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us
This is an animated film narrated by Dan Pink and is also based on his book, Drive. Every business owner is responsible for weaving the fabrics of different personalities and skill sets. So if you want to become one of these leaders, you have to understand their motivation behind this and how they sustain it.
