So the adventure begins
Hey, I am Patricija from Slovenia. Here I am, going on a new path in my life. So happy and excited about that, and at the same time a bit anxious. But I feel I made the right choice, and that keeps me calm. I feel so proud of myself that i gather courage and apply for ESC voulentaring in Cabuwazi and I can't wait to start a journey.
Being a part of Association for Circus Pedagogy Cirkokrog in Ljubljana for the last two years changed me a lot, it gave my life whole new meaning. So I cant wait to experience Cabuwazi vibe, gain new knowIege and socreate wonderful and unforgetable stories with all of you.

hello everyone!
this is Laura, from Portugal and in two days I'm starting my volunteer project at Cabuwazi.
about me: I'm 22 years old and I've been living in Berlin for almost a year now. I've moved here from Lisbon for a fresh start after my bachelor in Dance - I've been dancing for most of my life (ballet and contemporary dance). I felt that Berlin would be a good place to get to know new people and a new artistic and cultural scene!
my goals & expectations: after my studies I've been thinking that i would like to use my knowledge with dance and movement for a social purpose like teaching! also, being in an environment where I can acquire more knowledge about pedagogy is very important to me. besides that, I've always been really interested in the acrobatic part of circus so I really hope to learn more about it and have fun. I'm also very happy to make friends, get to know everyone and build a good support network!
I'm super excited to meet everyone and get started!
love, Laura

hello!
this is Bahaa from Palestine. I Finished my volunteery project at Cabuwazi in months ago.
about me: I came from a clowning background in addition to a good experience in Juggling, fire stuff. I am a performer with flair for communication and teaching. In my professional work, I work with circus in many different aspects, both performing and organizational. I believe that circus is good because it creates space for personal development, creates communities and is much fun. Until now, I have primarily focused on circus for and with children and young people, and enjoy the interplay between the creative and the pedagogical. I am responsible and collaborative; good at making things happen and can keep a cool head in a dynamic work environment. to be honest, it was hard choice for me, between Switzerland and germany. i'm very glad that I chose Cabuwazi and Cabuwazi is very welcome. Cabuwazi family is extremely amaizng, I had a great time with all the dream team espiclly the crew that I was work with and people I'm still work with them, they are really helpful and greatful. I can't describe how the team, is more than a collection of people. It is a process of give and take.
now I'm working in Cabuwazi tempelhof as main trainer. which gave me a great experience in dealing with children, how to motivate them, and always start from who they are, and help them to have their own passion. Everyone is different that's the
lesson i learned throughout the year of giving classes, voulnteering, and touring in thefield of circus, whether your a child, a kid, or a grownup, you have your own interests, cares, love, and passion.
With big love from berlin, Bahaa

© heads up to Dani for amazing footage
Long story long
Here we are, after a year of my arrival, now, me accompanying our dear new volunteer Ani from Georgia - to beloved Dieselstrasse home in order circle to continue
Am i ready for changes? -No
Is it a time to change?-Yes
It definetely has been longest and most intense year of my life
It could have been just another volunteering or just a year abroad, but I totally changed direction of my life when I get on the board on 11.04.22 and arrived in Berlin to join Cabuwazi 🎪
In this moment im slowly transitioning to life-after-volunteering and it's combination of sadness that it's over in a blink of an eye but exiting to see what comes after the obstacles and trying to settle down. Important decision is that I will be staying and I believe this period of my life will be twist point in my life stories when I am older.
There are so much to talk about. For small town girl, the speed of big Berlin, flow of life, range of activities and opportunities, amount of people I was meant to meet daily, live conserts I wanted to attend all, paperwork which is endless road, huuuuge supermarkets, so many product options, super noisy emergency sirens, changes in public transports used to overwhelm and confuse me so much after my arrival and my FOMO was not helping either. It took me while to find my Berlin Identity, routine and peace in all time rush.
I arrived on Monday and experienced open training in tent right away, I even coudnt name most of the props and some of the disciplines. Everything looked so exciting, fun but seemed too hard picturing myself to success.
This is not story where I get circus champion in a year or something, juggled million balls and walked over the canal on high-wire without protection. But this is the story where I managed to teach kids how to spin the plates, stand on Kugel, do basic tricks with flower sticks, pois, diabolo, etc.. while we don't even speak same language. Their smiles seeing plates spinning on their fingers, our small German conversations over the Schminke about their Lieblings farbe, flowers they gave us after the shows and writing my name on their Illustrations was more than worth of this volunteering.
I created my world on my walls, established my cooking rituals, some daily routines and activities. I was lucky to have opportunity to get back into photography, dancing and lot of old or new arts and crafts.
Community made me feel safe, supported and welcomed in lot of sense. Overall, most I learned is about myself, what I'm capable of and what educational or work methods works for me better. I'm also in the process of not take my health for granted and listen to my body more carefully, while I had to face some downs in this topic over the year.
And most important -my favorite people and connections deserve whole paragraph and big love. Even tho from the very first moment I had community to belong, I was scared finding individual connections could be hard, while there are such a big background and lot of stories behind us. And I'm extremely lucky and grateful for people Berlin gave me.
In the end, our child project about social gardening at Atl-Glienicke is our love back to Cabuwazi, from soily hands to amazing plate of fresh delicious food.
Thank you Cabufamily for supporting and I'm happy to have myself helping around a lot 🎪
Big love

Kamishibai at Pallaseum
At the end of the amazing 2 weeks at Pallaseum, Cabuwazi crew held the story time with Japanese Paper theater-Kamishibai. We had nice, cosy atmosphere and curious young audience, where we performed 2 stories we created lately: Story about colorful elephant bringing colors into the jungle and It was interactive, fun and chellanging for us to perform in German language.

Hi! I'm Daniela from the Czech Republic. This picture was taken three days ago. In between the time I left home, to my current night train journey, I made a stop in an abandoned querry where me and my friends organised a weekend for a group of volunteers. We worked there to protect the local nature and were able to clear our heads. What a perfect pre-departure time! Now I can't wait to see my new home, rest my shoulders from carrying the two big backpacks, and to meet all of you! Let's see what this year brings and what we can create together.

Kamishibai love!
On 30th of September colorful crew of Cabuwazi took part at final action of this season at Spielstrasse. We love the days when at 3PM our beloved Wrangelstrasse magically turns from typical street into joyful playground, full of colors and lot of games.
We've been preparing specially for this day to present and perform our Kamishibai -(Japanese street theater) stories we were working lately. We created couple of beautiful stories and illustrations in order to perform them during the action. We had amazing kids sitting around with big curiosity and shiny eyes.
Aswel we did lot of face paint and circus props were all around to make the time remembering and beautiful for kids and parents

On Saturday 24th of September, we had the privilege of marching down the streets of Neukölln to make music and dance for our futures!
We were so inspired and empowered to see so many people using their creativity as a force for good, and prove that one person's trash really is someone else's treasure
It was amazing to see so many talented artists and activists come together to show the world that if we act now and put the planet first, our future is indeed bright!
Thank You to all and especially to Artistania for organising the Karneval fur Zukunft!
