This is all your fault. I mean, you kept hitting on me. And you kept telling me that I’m pretty. It’s because you keep flattering me. Gosh, what am I going to do? Whatever. You can sue me if you want.

so i caught up on my country.
“messy bench who loves drama” is kind of my vibe, because, well i am a messy bitch and i do love drama. which is why for all of episode 4 i was going “but what if hee joo ends up married to seon ho during her and hwi’s separation” because the DRAMA that would generate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the best love triangles are when you can see both sides develop and actually happen, maybe even simultaneously, and sageuks are such a great vehicle for this type of conflict!!
she marries a man for circumstance, but loves another, lives with little hope he’s even alive. but his sister is, and she keeps her close, and marriage is so much less than she had ever imagined for herself. she holds her breath for a year, maybe two, and every year, that vise around her throat loosens. three years pass and then five. her husband is--complicated, but yeon is always close by, and it isn’t what she’d wanted, but it becomes enough.
and then bang won brings hwi back...
DRAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i attend only for the ladies and love triangles, i’m sorry i know this drama’s shaping up to be quite excellent, but i’m a messy bitch and i can’t lie. the boys are great, but all i want is more hee joo and yeon and lady kang

Do you have any kdrama recs with career women heroines? Anything where the heroine is competent or on her way to being competent at her job and the narrative gives it a decent amount of focus. I enjoyed Kim Hye-kyung from tvn the good wife slaying it as a rookie lawyer.
ooooh this is such a fun question! i’m going to try real hard to not give away any spoilers, because these are some of my all time favourite dramas, and i wouldn’t want to ruin the experience in any way. feel free to hit me up if you want more details before you dive in or just wanna scream about it :)
Jealousy Incarnate: a good chunk of the story is driven by the heroine’s career aspirations, and how she achieves them (she’s a weather caster who dreams of becoming an anchor). -- genre: workplace romance
Search: WWW: the narrative’s primary focus is the work and life of three female executives who work for competing search engine companies. -- genre: contemporary romance,
Live Up To Your Name: the romance is almost driven by her professional life, in that she’s a doctor of modern medicine, and he’s a doctor of eastern medicine (from the Joseon era). -- genre: time travel, medical
Her Private Life: like the above, the lion’s share of the story is driven by our heroine’s occupation (she’s a museum curator). there’s at least one story arc dedicated to how competent she is. -- genre: workplace romance, enemies to friends to lovers
Romance is a Bonus Book: divorced single mom finds her way back to workforce after an extended hiatus. -- genre: noona romance, romcom
Melo is My Nature: the heroines’ stories are wrapped up in their careers, we get success and failures and promotions and day-to-day, them doing their jobs. -- genre: contemporary, workplace romance

when the camellia blooms aka a matriarchal society where family businesses are passed down from daughter to daughter or daughter-in-law, and the men are on the outside looking in--one episode in and i have no choice but to stan
i’ve said for so long, strong women aren’t just those who fight their oppressors with fists, and soft spoken dong baek’s nuanced strength is doing a fantastic job of illustrating just that. yong shik proclaiming himself her fan? same, dude.
also kim yong shik is the BIGGEST loser and i absolutely adore his bumbling ass.
netflix is the mvp for having it up and ready by dinnertime.

episode 4 of chief of staff better be sun young’s origin story. like, it’s just one betrayal after the other, and i love that she takes it in stride. but moral of the story? men are trash and cannot be trusted.
i loved that lil bit with sun young and tae joon scheming, they made such a lovely team. but if he betrays her for that trashy boss of his, he’ll be dead to me. i love that so much of what they are together, is how they work together. how they both contribute to each other’s professional lives through their personal. theirs could be a great partnership and i just hope the drama doesn’t let me down.
fuck the old men and fuck the patriarchy. it had better be that sun young will turn this crisis into an opportunity.
