“Ralph McWilliams” early 1950’s…Lynes marveled at male beauty, the nude images he took from his lovers, models and dancer friends were never meant for mass consumption. They would have been far to dangerous in the times that he lived. Instead they were meant to be seen by a chosen few of his friends. Ralph McWillams was one of those men who Lynes would photograph again and again. Mc Williams was a dancer with The American Ballet Theatre. His career encompassed ballet, modern dance, musical comedy and television. He danced with Ballet Theater from 1949 to 1952 and again in 1957. He would later go on to become stage manager to the company. Ralph McWilliams died in 1981, of unreleased causes, he was 55 years old.
