I wish people understood that it doesn’t matter how much time passes: what kim/kanye did to taylor will never not hurt her. She felt like her life was torn to shreds. Imagine being 26 years old (literally my age now), coming down off the most successful year of your career, and now the whole entire world is against you. Imagine seeing your name trending because people are saying you’re over, you’re a liar, you’re dead. Imagine thinking this career that you’re worked tirelessly for is over in the blink of an eye. Imagine the people who claim to love and support you suddenly deciding they don’t anymore- in fact- they are going to completely turn against you. You don’t come back from that without deep scars. It’s not possible to move on and never have something tug on the pain. It’s just not. That’s a bag of emotions…one that, I think, you don’t always know which you’re going to pull out on any given day.

you know, the desperation and sincerity with which she talks about how badly she wants to get married makes me go back in her discography all the way to mine. “you’ll say we’ll never make my parent’s mistakes” in many ways is an indicator of how much she thought about marriage early on and how badly she wanted to do it right, with the right person. sure, it’s a whimsical song, but way later on down the line it’s interesting to reflect on when listening to her lament about the men who promised her marriage and couldn’t pull through.

i like how you can tell when she’s talking about joe and when she’s talking about matty in i can do it with a broken heart because she says “i can hold my breath, i’ve been doing it since he left.” throughout the entire album leaving joe is represented as the breath coming back into her lungs and clean air, so you can automatically tell she’s talking about matty when she says she’s holding her breath. it’s brilliant songwriting

pretty sure someone already said this but i love how in the tracklist so long london comes right after down bad and loml comes right after i can fix him no really i can because it shows us what was really going on, why she reacted the way that she did with the person she chose to run off with, what was really breaking her down. it’s like “yes, there’s this insane thing that i did, but this is why i did it, this is why i’m upset, do you see how sad i am?”
