“Well that’s good to know. Isana only deserves the best. Sorry I flipped out on you. I had to make sure you aren’t the type that’s quick to violence. It’s one thing for me to get hit, but I don’t want Isana getting hurt.” At the next question, he laughed a little bit, “Sapph is one of the only people who actually understands me and can comfort me. While it’s none of your business I’d say I’m a rare case. I know a lot of people my age who freak out at commitment. I’m just pointing out the facts. Most people aren’t prepared for the commitment of a child their whole life. I just have to make sure you are.”
With what he’d heard about Isana’s ex, he supposed it was understandable for the boy to be wary of him. Thankfully, Seneca had too much of an anxious heart to be able to hit anyone without a good enough reason. “You’re not... wrong...” He had to admit it. Becoming a dad was certainly not something he had planned to commit to when he’d agreed with Isana’s friends to meet her on a blind date, but he wasn’t opposed to it either. “It does take quite a bit to get to the point where you’re fit to raise a family. I may not be perfect, but I understand that enough to be able to stay by their side through thick and thin, because I don’t want Isana to go about everything on her own, and Minette deserves a father figure who’s willing to actually stick around.”

Niven instantly calmed down at that, “Ghosts are so cool. I mean I have so many EVPs I caught in this warehouse last night. It was amazing. Even my finacé thought so! I mean there some really clear screams and all. I should send them to Isana.” Back to the thought of Isana he patted Seneca’s back, “You ain’t too bad. I mean you handled me yelling at you well enough. Although I still do wonder why you like Isana. I mean if you like marry her you’ll have to be a dad. You seem a bit young to want that level of commitment.”
A sort of unease overtook Seneca as he watched how quickly he boy was distracted. It was too easy, so much so that he felt as if it were all a ruse... and when he felt the pat on his back, he only felt it more strongly. “... Right. I’d tell you all about it, but there aren’t enough hours in the day.” He inhaled and held his breath for a moment to calm himself, allowing the anxiety to trickle out of him as his posture, which has grown stiff without him realizing, relaxed once again. “I’m fully prepared for that, but it’s really up to Minette whether she accepts me or not... Besides, I’m 28, and you’re engaged to be married, so what’s all this about me being too young for commitment?” Hypocrite.

“Don’t bro me fuckwad. How could you date my sister and not even ask for me, Aaron, or Dakota’s blessing! Plus you butt in on people talking to themselves. It ain’t looking good for you buddy.” His face a perfect frown. It was practically a snarl at this point, “I can’t wait to complain about you to Isana. Why do you even deserve to date my sister anyways? If it’s only cause she’s pretty I’ll literally break your nose.”
His disbelief was unreal as he took the bombardment without much of a response. He could barely form fragments of words, and his hands were shaking as he continued to type and message Isana for advice. “N-No! You’ve g-got it all wrong! I just overheard and you were looking this w-way and—” Another message from Isana brought both curiosity and relief to him as he stuttered out his next sentence. “I’m sorry, but ghosts are r-really cool, okay!?” Isana had better be right about this method, or he was seriously in trouble. He was terrified of ghosts.

“I’m telling my sister that some weirdo budded into a conversation when I wasn’t talking to him.” His eyes widened as he wiped out the phone to look at a picture Isana had sent him of her new boyfriend, “Oh my god you’re the new guy my sister is dating. Wow now I have something even better to tell her. Say cheese.” He quickly snapped a picture as proof and went on his way to texting Isana.
The flash of the camera caused Seneca to flinch, gasping slightly as he processed the situation for a moment. “W-Wait a second!” This guy? Was Isana’s brother? No, that was impossible, right? There was no way that he was—fuck. He felt his phone buzz and pulled it out to see a message from Isana waiting for him. Just his luck, right? “Bro! Not cool! How can you do that over something so random!?” He texted back frantically, making typos along the way as he tried to mend the situation.

Isana hadn’t even noticed the wall she bumped into. She was so utterly exhausted, but she still had to make dinner, bathe Minette, put her to bed, and then clean up the apartment. Gosh having some help around her occasionally would be nice.
Rubbing at her forehead she leaned against the wall and honestly wanted to bang her head into it again, “Ugh when can I sleep?” She managed to whine out a bit too loudly.
“After dinner,” the crystal-eyed boy responded. He’d seen it all, and he couldn’t deny that he was worried for Isana’s health—he always was, but this time it was more so than usual. He meandered closer, brushing her hair out of her face to take a look at the redness on her forehead.
A smile formed on his lips as he tilted his head at her. “You know, I don’t think that’s the most effective way to move a wall, but I’ll handle making dinner, okay?”
