Superman: Red & Blue #5 - Deescalation
Multiple great stories in this issue! The first one and the one towards the end with Jonathan Kent are also excellent.

Awww!
Hello! This isn't comic-related, but concerning the Frankenstein's Eyes Incident, I thought it might be worth it to drop by and say that the main thing your classics summaries inspired me to do is actually read more, especially the source materials, including Frankenstein, which became my favorite book a few years ago, and still inspires basically everything I create (the amount of homunculus and artificially constructed characters in my writing are... something). And after being introduced to it through OSP, Dracula was my gateway read into the horror fan I am today. ith the risk of putting too much feels into an ask to a stranger, if I haven't stumbled into OSP when I did, I might not have ended up being a writer at all, and now a few weeks ago my first short story got actually published and that rekindling of love for the art of storytelling sorta kinda maybe changed my life. It's frustrating when people on the internet misinterpret what you're saying and use it as basis for misinformation, but there's also other cases! I'm sure you know about that already but still, a quick "hey, your fascination with stories was so contagious it made my life better" wouldn't hurt, probably. That's all I hope you have a good day!

It is! Yay!

I mean, over in Angel they had an episode where it turned out that a precinct in the LAPD was creating zombie cops to carry out racist murders against black folk, so it's a theme in the Buffyverse for sure.
The officer just shooting at Buffy in Becoming Part 2….very on brand. Homicide suspect with absolutely no proof besides her being at the crime scene. She’s literally there mourning Kendra and asking if Xander is ok when you idiots arrive. Can we talk about how the writers did NOT fuck with police at all? Remember their aptitude exams and how horrified Buffy was at being suggested Law Enforcers? And Xander’s police brutality joke?LMAO I love it.

While I'm pretty sure they're being sarcastic, I have seen folk online who have said this unironically.

Ahh, reminds me of the film the Good, the Bad and the Weird, which was a remake of the Good, the Bad and the Ugly based in 1940s Manchuria. I remember it being a lot of fun. :)

Hm, seen the book around but I've not idea if it's any good or not.
...
Y'know, still kind of surprised there hasn't been a live-action adaptation of Black Lagoon?

Seemingly a catch 22 where you can't use unproven accusations as evidence in a case against a defendant despite the point being that he'd been able to keep people quiet about it by threatening their careers/making the right people a lot of money?
Wouldn't be the first time that an awful person in the entertainment industry has had the case against them overturned for stupid reasons, like how Bill Cosby was released when it turned out that a previous DA had signed a "non-prosecution" agreement with him, which his legal team used to quash his conviction.
Meaning, basically, that he admit he did it, but the prior DA required he'd admit what he did in exchange for not sending him to prison. Which Cosby then used as a get of jail free charge when the new DA had him convicted of the things he said he did.
Boo! Apparently the appeals court ruled the original verdict to be unjust as the judge took into account the testimonies of the multiple other women he assaulted (but hadn't been charged with) while sentencing him, which 4 out of the 7 people in the court feel he shouldn't have been.
Which seems kind of daft, considering the argument was that this was a pattern of behaviour for him (Ben Affleck apparently knew, with one witness saying that when they told him about Harvey assaulting them Affleck responded that he'd "told him to knock that off" previously or something along those lines), that this was a known at Miramax at the time.
But then, they have a bunch of gross weirdos working with the Weinstein's. Like the time Quentin Tarantino wrote a but from Dusk Till Dawn where he drank wine off of Salma Hayek's foot due to that being his Thing. Hayek also being someone who Weinstein was awful towards.

Notably the alternate future/Elseworlds stories where Cass becomes Batman are relatively neat/have the same vibes as regular Gotham, while every alternate future/Elseworld where Tim becomes Batman is a horrible dystopia.
Points for BatCass!
