Remix
I think that I'm a remix of my dad as a teenager. Growing up he was more wild and easy going then my mom, and that's how I think I am. I am definitely not the remix of my brother or my mom, we are complete opposites. I have remixed myself in ways that make me completely different from my family, so 9 times out of 10 I feel out of place, but I've become used to it. I've found out that you are happier being your own person rather than someone your family wants you to be, even if that's not the easiest road to go down.

In our opinion, the characters in Rebel Without A Cause are not very believable.  They dramatized how reckless teenagers really are. For example, a normal teenager is not willing to drive toward the end of a cliff and risk losing their lives. Although teenagers do act out against their problems in many other ways, that sort of reckless behavior they portrayed in the movie was not the same kind of recklessness teenagers get into today. The audience for the film would be parents, so they could see how kids really act when they aren’t looking. The purpose of the movie is to send a message that teenagers are more risky then thought of, although, that risk was definitely over exaggerated.
We also watched Ferris Bueller’s Day off. Ferris Bueller isn’t as much of a representation of teenagers rather than a fantasy of teenagers. We all want to be Ferris, the fearless, confident, and free spirited teen who can weasel out of every pickel that he’s put in. He can organize one of the greatest days of one’s life just out of the blue, and is capable of doing the outrageous and making it look easy, such as performing “Twist and Shout” in the middle of Chicago. Many people get the wrong stereotype from this movie, for it isn’t exposing what teenagers do, it’s more what they wish they could do, which is what makes it so much fun to watch. Ferris isn’t exactly believable, for he’s more of a fantasy rather than an actual person. Cameron is a tad more realistic, since most teens usually stay at home rather than pretend to be the sausage king of Chicago. The audience in the movie is definitely the teens, for throughout the movie Ferris talks directly at the camera, potentially at the teens themselves. I believe that he’s talking to the teens because some of the messages he says in it seem more directed at them, such as the very famous line “Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it”. This could be director John Hughes trying to give the teens a message that this time in their lives won’t last forever, and that they shouldn’t make the mistakes of the prior generations and let it pass by. This is relateable to Rebel Without A Cause because in both situations, the behavior of the teenagers compared to real life is highly exaggerated.
Sherri believes that teenagers do get into trouble, but not the same as either of these movies. Although she knows some of the stuff teenagers tend to get into, she does not believe that the movies are a very accurate portrayal of how teenagers really are.

Staples/Shelly comparison
Shelly's quote and Staple's essay are similar because they are both talking about something that cannot be controlled. Once Shelly had "created a monster" in her novel, there was no longer any control, and the situation was no longer in the hands of Frankenstein's creator. Staple's situation is similar because he has little to no control on how people of other races may view him because he is black. He has no control over the thoughts of what others may think of him, whether it be true or not. Once a thought is created in someone's mind over a certain topic, it's hard to alter their opinion.

Conversation
If common sense was used in the government and in the US
Citizen: I don't believe in abortion
Government: Then don't get one
Citizen: I don't believe in birth control
Government: Then don't use it
Citizen: I think gay marriage is a sin
Government: Then don't marry a same-sex person
Citizen: I want my kids to learn about creationism
Government: Take them to church
#3
This should be the way our government really works. If the government were more like this, than the people would be much happier. Doing what you want should be allowed, and you shouldn't be judged on what you want to do. Along with that, you shouldn't judge other people for what they do either. It's your life, so enjoy it while it lasts. If you are in love with a person of the same sex as you, there is no reason why that love should not be allowed. Love is love, no matter who it may be between.

This message appeals more to religious groups. However, this picture does have a point, that the bible really does not say anytrhing about how gay marriage is wrong. However, with groups like Catholics, most strictly believe that gay marriage is wrong because God says so. Does he really say so? Or is that just their excuse for the discrimination against another group of people, who are no different than anyone else. At another point of view, if this picture is appealing to non religious groups, it is not as much of a slap in the face, but rather a joke, because they know it's the truth, even if the religious groups don't agree.

This is a perfect interpretation on a stance against the ban of gay marriage. Some act like just because two people of the same sex are in love that it is the end of the world. If two people are in love, let them be. Like this picture says, no world wars will break out. The only thing coming out of gay people getting married is the fact that they are finally able to be open about their love, and that it is no different than the love between a man and a woman.

Human Value
In my opinion, yes, every person is worth something. Although that person may not have value to you personally, if they are here, they are here for a reason, and there is someone out there who values this person. Human worth is not something you can put a price on though, but rather judge on their character. Every person in the world has worth, it just takes the right person/people to appreciate it.

Mao Response
"Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." I agree with this quote, written by Mao Tse-Tung. I think that much of our power does in fact come through violence and fighting. The stronger our military is, the more political power we tend to gain as a country. When trying to get what the country wants, war is often involved because it is likely that we are taking from someone else in that process. If violence was not involved, we would be politically weak as a country. In order to get what we want, we have to use war with politics, or we would not get nearly as far as where we are today.

Work and Play
Between work and play, the factor that seperates the two is definitely money. When money becomes a factor, play automatically becomes work, because money drives us to do that work. If one is not paid to do their work, they will mess around and have more fun because they know in the end that it doesn't really matter because they aren't getting paid to do that job. In most cases, the harder you work, the more you will get paid, so play is usually put off until the job is done.

Work and Play
I agree with Twain's quote. It is easy to work and still have fun, which is why it is important to find a job you love. Also, you can have fun working at a sport even, which makes it more enjoyable, therefore making the fun pay off as work. Lastly, while working, half the time you are still having fun with your coworkers, which again puts work and play under the same situation.
