#sorry for the late response but!!!#!!#hello thank you for telling me about this!!!#moths keep repeatedly mixing me up with their individual names and then family/genus names#most recently: hummingbird and snowberry clearwing moths NOT ACTUALLY BEING CLEARWINGS/SESIIDAE.#which I was already sort of aware of and just hadn't checked in a bit. like#yeah those guys seem way more sphinx moth shaped but I'm too busy looking at cool bug pictures to check.#also because of their names and them being on the more well known end of moths they tend to take up a lot of search results. alas#and then you get a lot of sesiidae moths having “borer” in their common names. and then borer moths are actually ANOTHER separate group#moth names will continue to trick and befuddle me forever but it's ok because it's really funny.#i mean common names are generally just like that (EELS. electric and wolf eels what are you guys doin here.) but. yea!!

honestly, no one has suffered more than entomologists though
they’ll be like “here’s a cool insect i have spent my life learning about, researching, debating and advocating for! isn’t it cool?” and someone will be like well actually i think we should kill every last one with fire
#something I always see with responses to wasp stuff is#“well I don't want them to be extinct or anything but I still wish they weren't mean and stung people for no reason”#ITS NOT. NO REASON. THEY THINK YOU ARE GOING TO EAT THEIR LARVAE#it's not necessarily your fault sometimes you just don't notice you're close to a nest#or an individual wasp that you accidentally got too close too#but like. it's not “no reason” a tiny bug is not going to use its energy to hurt you (and risk being killed) for no reason

Little guy landed on my leg and proceeded to bite me over and over. I let him do it until it hurt too bad because he was so cute :')
Pretty sure it's a green lacewing. North GA, USA!
It is a green lacewing! This one was apparently hungry for human flesh :)
