What are your two favorite series that end with tragic character death? 👀
Hopefully this isn’t a huge spoiler if I don’t mention character names, but I was thinking of Battlestar Galactica and Babylon 5, both of which have final episodes that feature the death of a main character in a way that feels earned and narratively satisfying even if both finales always make me bawl my eyes out!

i hate when ppl act like the only reason to not like a "sad" ending is because you can't take it or whatever. personally as a tragedy enjoyer, i hate a poorly written ending. i hate an ending that is just kind of a bummer. i hate an ending that feels mean-spirited to the audience. i hate an ending that's redundant. i love a sad ending that is thematically consistent, poignant, and bespoke to the rest of its narrative.
#I see this so often with character deaths in shows#whenever people say 'oh you just didn't want your fave 2 die'#I'm like#literally two of my favourite shows of all time have a beloved main character tragically die in the final episode#and I LOVE it both times!#because it's important and thematically relevant and treated with respect and weight#and fits the tone of the story and resolves the arc of that character as established#tragedy can be good actually!!#a good character death can be really profound and moving and satisfying!!#shock value deaths because you've run out of ideas and want to write an actor out of your story suck balls!!!#thank you for coming to my TED Talk!!

fandom tumblr was another casualty of streaming services. we used to be on here posting about the episodes that were coming out weekly and posting gifs and writing insane shit about the tv shows we liked. now a new season of a show will drop and we’ll talk about it for a week. two weeks tops. and then that show will leave collectively conscious for 1+ year till the next season drops. there’s a reason succession sundays was a blast on here
