CARTOON LIFE
pairing : kim sunoo x reader

# fluff, early mornings, cuddles, fluff, sleepy sunoo.
The arms that wrap around your middle are enough to bring today’s first smile to the surface. Sunoo buries his face between your shoulder and your neck, and you flip a pancake with expertise. Your boyfriend seems comfortable just clinging to you as you make breakfast, but moving around with a human blanket on your back is quite hard— especially when said blanket is half asleep and dragging his socked feet through the kitchen floor instead of walking properly.
“Baby,” you say, voice never above a whisper during mornings like this: when Sunoo is extra clingy, and extra tired, and extra in need of a cup of coffee and a kiss straight on the lips. “I need to finish making breakfast, so why don’t you go back to bed? I’ll bring it to you.”
“Wanna be with you,” Sunoo mumbles back, voice muffled by your skin. The tickle of his lips against your neck sends shivers down your spine, but you simply coo at your boyfriend’s tired state, acting almost hypnotized.
“You can sit on the counter and wait for me to be done, then.”
He obliges, unwrapping his arms from the tight hold on your waist and pecking your cheek before sitting on the counter- criss-cross style, watching you through half-opened eyes and fighting back a yawn. You giggle at his stubbornness; he’ll fall asleep right there if you don’t hurry, so you finish the pancakes and grab two cups from the drying rack to serve coffee for you both.
After everything is organized on the table, looking pretty and ready to be devoured, you tell Sunoo to sit in front of you and dive into your food. Your eyes quickly glance over the time when you get a reminder on your phone for your 9:30AM class, and it marks 8:14AM in bold numbers on top of a candid picture of your boyfriend smiling at something the camera hadn’t captured.
Sunoo chews on his breakfast slowly, and the sunshine filters through the window beside the fridge in your tiny kitchen. The early morning feels… surreal, somehow— like you’re apart of one of those dramas Sunoo enjoys watching when his afternoon’s are free of classes. It’s the most peace you’ve felt in a while, and it’s easy to get lost in the sound of your metallic spoon running circles on your almost empty coffee cup, guided by your distracted hand.
It’s easy to get lost in Sunoo: his eyes, his hair, the way the morning sun seems to hit him just right. He notices your gaze, and with a blink, he wipes his face with the back of his hand. “Is there something on my face?”
“No,” you reply. “You’re just pretty.”
Your boyfriend mumbles something, but you manage to catch it anyway: “Pretty damn tired.”
“Go to bed, then.”
“Only if you come with me.” Sunoo doesn’t miss a beat with his reply, looking at you with eyes that shouldn’t hold so much emotion yet do, and it’s insane how you feel like you were perfectly placed in this world solely to love the boy in front of you.
With a giggle, you agree. “Okay, let’s clean up.”
“No,” Sunoo whines. “Later. Cuddles, now.”
He grabs you by the waist again, tugging at you as you try to pick up after your silent breakfast. He’s whining like a puppy, and it makes you laugh as you use almost all your strength to fight back and clean up the mess, but it’s futile. Sunoo’s arms are wrapped too tightly around your middle, and to be honest, you don’t even want to clean up that bad— cuddles sound much better, they really do.
“Okay, okay.” You stop struggling, falling backwards as Sunoo tugs once more, bringing you close to his chest. “Let’s cuddle now, but we’ll clean later.”
“Mhm.”
You roll your eyes, and you can’t believe he’s won again. It isn’t even a competition if you don’t make it one, but you want to make it one; Sunoo has a hold on you that seems surreal, almost as if your lives were following a script and your love story was written by someone’s hand— the universe’s hand, Sunoo would tell you if you voiced your thoughts out loud, you know. He’s like that.
As your boyfriend drags you into the messy bed with him, under the covers and into the warmth of the safety net you’ve built inside your shared room, you smile to yourself. Sunoo buries his head on your chest, and your hands go straight to his hair as you let yourself indulge in the little moments. You have class in an hour, and you should be getting ready and rushing to campus, but instead you let yourself get lost in what your favorite boy brings you and what you bring to him: comfort, happiness, love, love, love.
With Sunoo by your side, and a blanket to keep you warm, you come to the conclusion that you were truly made to live this life, and love this boy, and you’re merely a cartoon person living a cartoon life— but you’re with the love of your life, and that’s all that matters from end to start.
