World building and theories of Engage
Solm‘s defences
Solm was the only nation able to prepare when The Fell Dragon was awakened in Elusia. As Timerra explains in Chapter 13: The Heroes of the Desert,
“The palace has scouts all over Elyso keeping an eye on the three kingdoms. When Elusia brought back the Fell Dragon, we learnt about it early on.“
This early access to information meant that Solm was able to devise a strategy to defend themselves. Firene as a self sufficient nation with a peaceful and isolating foreign policy meant they weren't expecting or ready for the attacks by Elusia. Lythos suffered because of a similar philosophy, Lumera ran a peaceful nation and chose not to interfere in how humans govern themselves unless air was requested. This lack of knowledge and interaction meant that she was not prepared when Veyle, The Hounds and Elusia's military attacked, (the Corrupted couldn't enter the Ring Chamber). Brodia was unable to prepare because they were focused on wealth through war. This philosophy and Brodian arrogance and pride meant that Elusia was successful when they wanted to capture King Morion.
Solm's royal family knew that they could not defeat Sombron without the Divine Dragon and the Emblem Ring. They had to focus on defending the population from the Corrupted, protecting themselves from being captured for their royal blood and keeping their Emblem rings safe. Timerra explains the defence strategy to Alear in Chapter 13: The Heroes of the Desert.
“The Corrupted started arriving so we had to quickly lay out a plan. Mum would stay in the palace. She'd work with the royal guard to keep out intruders. And we'ld send out our militia, The Sentinels, to bolster soldiers’ efforts against the Corrupted.“
The Solm’s royal's policy of suspicion and caution meant that they also devised a plan to ensure that they weren't fooled by a fake Divine Dragon. Fogado travelled near the border with Elusia, sussing out people who crossed over into Solm. If anyone claimed to be the Divine Dragon, he would evaluate their claim and then take them to the palace if he believed them, all the while keeping his identity a secret. Timerra protected the ring by travelling around the desert. A second ring was protected in the same way Firene protected their second ring; both nations hid them in isolated ruins. Solm went a step further and made certain that the ruins were intimidating.
Solm‘s readiness probably saved the lives of many of their population and stopped Dungeon from gaining power and more Rings. Solm's two rings are the only ones to never be in his possession before Sombron drains them after Chapter 21: The Return.

Translation of Fire Emblem Engage's Soundtrack's Short Story
Short Story
A Feast for the Anniversary of the Coronation
Early in the morning a feast was made with ingredients from all over Elyso. It is almost ready. There are spoilers of the  main game’s storyline. Please enjoy after clearing the main game.
Veyle: Welcome back!
Fogado: Bunet is in command of the kitchen, so Solm's very own Prince gets to be in charge of tasting the food. Alcryst, since we're best friends you can also help, right?.
Alcryst: Well, my best friend…! I still can't get used to the sound of that, but yeah, I'll take the time to… I'll choose an unreasonable dish only I can eat.
Vander: We have been waiting for you Divine One.
Alear: Veyle, Vander; Thank you for making the celebration happen.
Today the Somniel has a different atmosphere. There are decorations everywhere.
Celine: The smell of the food is making me hungry. Princess Hortensia was right in front of me and I started to imagine that her cute belly was delicious pork.
It's been one year since Alear's coronation ceremony. All of their allies who fought in the war, as well as the Royal families, are in attendance.
Hortensia: Hey, it is forbidden to poke me there! If you think my skin looks delicious, it is nothing compared to yours.
Veyle: Here! Here! Everything is in Cafe Terrace!
Sommie: Yip! Yip!
Alear: Veyle, please don't pull me! Aha, Sommie is having fun too.
Timerra: Here we come Divine One!
Framme: Awww, Sommie, you're so precious! You're so precious!
Alfred: Sommie runs like a rock.
Ivy: I have missed you Divine One.
Clanne: Now that the fighting is over, we, the 33rd Stewards of the Dragon, have moved to the Holy Land of Lythos with the Divine One and Lady Veyle. This place is nostalgic, so let's do this!
Diamant:It is great that you are doing well Divine One.
Alear: Clanne, Framme, Thank you for all you have done today. Everyone…! It's been a long time since we've been together like this.
Framme: Oh my god! It is an honour to be called by name on the Somniel.
Timerra: We used to talk until we were ready for battle. I remember that we all are here. If I remember correctly, I had dinner with Alfred and then camped out!.
Clanne: It's been a long time since I've had the chance to fall flat! But if I see Vander here, I will have to go to work. I will leave the humour for later, so please excuse me.
Alfred: See you later Divine One. That was fun! We talked with everyone and deepened our relationships. This also reflects the relationship between countries after the war. It's very emotional when you think about it.
Ivy: There was talk about Brodia and Elusia establishing a trade route in the future. Now that I think about it, it was here in the Somniel where talks began, Prince Diamant… no, King Diamant?
Vander: Good, Clanne returned to his post immediately. Well, it seems like those two are taking their roles seriously and are becoming full fledged stewards. Maybe it is time for me to appoint them as guardians, hand over my dutues, and retire.
Diamant: We're not used to calling each other by our titles, Queen Ivy.
Ivy: We have only just ascended to the throne and there is a lot of work for both of us to do, but that promise we made will come true someday, for the same of both of our countries.
Vander: I am talking to myself. I am going to check the kitchen.
Veyle: Is Vander going to retire? When he does, you will still have me. Would you like me to stay at the Somniel even after everyone's gone back to their countries? I could stay and manage things
Alear: Thank you Veyle, I am grateful that you are staying to take care of things, but are there any inconveniences with that? If you get lonely don't hesitate to join us in Lythos.
Veyle: Thank you but don't worry, Mauvier will be with me, and Sommie can help me. I have the future to think about. There is so much I want to do. I want to travel and help people. Also…I am wondering if it is okay for me to return to Gradlon.
Alear: To Gradlon?
Alear: It is like the Somniel in the good old days. I want to show the Emblem Rings as well.
Veyle: Is that the ring of the Hero King?
Alear: Has Vander gone? Don't tell him, I should have kept the ring in the vault, but I have been with Marth for so long.
Veyle: Is that why you were holding it? I would be afraid that I would drop it if I held it.
Alear: Next time I will make something to keep it in, I am good with my hands.
Veyle: I keep thinking about Gradlon being called a cursed place, but the place itself is not guilty. I wish the land could be reborn as a place filled with greenery.
Clanne: Excuse me, Divine One. The feast is ready.
Framme: Please go and say hi to everyone!
Alear: That is Veyle's new dream.
Veyle: My new dream? Maybe you are right. I wonder if that is possible?
All the familiar faces are gathered together but something is missing. It feels lonely…
Alear: Yes, I am sure you can make it come true because you made your first dream come true. You became a dragon that saved the world.
Celine: There is something missing. Perhaps it is the music.
Fogado: Those words make me very happy. After all, there's always music at a party! Yay! Divine Dragon, I'll ask you like before.
Timerra: Look! Look! Divine One, Veyle, Jean brought us some rare fruit and vegetables. Saphira caught a big fish in the pond too. I wonder if I could cook it in time?
Diamant: I am feeling nostalgic.
Alear: Which song should we play? All of them are so memorable that I get lost.
Hortensia: Just play them all. We have plenty of time to enjoy them. Even then we were fighting, Divine One many to obtain fresh ingredients.
Alfred: Today we all fought over who would be in charge of eating. Speaking of being in charge, someone was always in charge of waking up the Divine One. I would run up the stairs and open that door.
Ivy: I wonder how other people woke up the Divine One? When Yunaka was on duty, I heard the sounds of birds, and when Linden was on duty, I heard explosions. I thought it was terrifying at the time…
Veyle: I woke him up normally…?
That's right, I was at Anna's and heard that the owners were opening up. Seadall was also thinking about opening the fortune telling hut.
Alcryst: The food is coming. I am feeling strangely excited. I'm sorry.
Alear: Let's start with my favourite song.
Vander: I understand, let me start the music.
The music started to play.
Alear: Somewhere the Emblems can hear this music. Let us toast to the days where we laughed, cried, shared opinions and ran together. Until we meet again, please remember me, forever. I will remember you. It is a promise. Now let us celebrate and pray for eternal peace in the whole of Elyso.
If you are not from Japan, the Soundtrack can be purchased from amiami and playasia. If you know any other sites, please let me know.

Boucheron and Veyle
I was inspired by kindness, spicy food and big soft hearts. From the randomness of my brain; Boucheron and Veyle.
SUPPORT C
Boucheron: (Sob, sniff, sniff) Why does fate have to be so cruel?
Veyle: (Runs in) I heard someone crying. Oh it is you Boucheron, is something wrong?
Boucheron: I am sorry for worrying you Lady Veyle, I am alright. I was just crying over this story. A young man fights to defend his country and unbeknownst to him, his father is the leader of the enemy army, and he only finds this out after he has killed him. (Sniff)
Veyle: That does sound sad. I think I would cry too.
Boucheron: Really? Thank you Lady Veyle, sometimes I think I am too sensitive.
Veyle: I do not think so, being sensitive means being caring. I do not think that you can care too much. Oh no! Your book is all wet! It is like the book is crying.
Boucheron: That is not uncommon for my books. The pages end up wrinkling eventually and the print runs. Excuse me Lady Veyle, I need to go and dry my book. (Departs)
Veyle: There has to be some way to help him.
SUPPORT B
Veyle: Boucheron! Boucheron! (Runs over) I have a solution to your problem!
Boucheron: I am sorry Lady Veyle I do not know what you are referring to.
Veyle: No, I am sorry, I got excited and forgot to say. I have an idea how to stop you crying so your books stay dry.
Boucheron: Really? That would be helpful.
Veyle: When you start to feel sad, eat this.
Boucheron: What is this? Oh, it is candy, it looks delicious.
Veyle: When you eat this you will feel happy because it is so yummy.
Boucheron: Tasty candy does make me happy. I will give it a try. Thank you Lady Veyle. (Eats candy) WHAT IS THIS! It is so hot that I am dripping with sweat!
Veyle: It is a spicy candy. They are my favourite. Oh no! You are sweaty! The book would still get wet but not from tears but from sweat. I am sorry.
Boucheron: It is not your fault. You were only trying to help. Now if you would excuse me, I need to go and jump in the fishing pond. (Runs off)
SUPPORT A
Veyle: I am so sorry about the other day. I tried to help but ended up making things worse.
Boucheron: There is no need to apologise. You were trying to help me, I appreciate that.
Veyle: I thought about you crying and getting your books wet again, maybe we could protect the book from your tears.
Boucheron: Protect the book from my tears, I like the approach but how would I do that?
Veyle: At first I thought about using a little cup to catch your tears then I realised that you may have difficulty turning the page with your hands full.
Boucheron: It was not a bad idea, just a little impractical.
Veyle: Then I thought about a see through shield for the book. You hook the sheet of glass over the top of the book and your tears will land on the glass rather than the pages.
Boucheron: Hey, that's a good idea. I will definitely give it a try. You could sell these and ensure that other softies don't soak their books.
Veyle: I do not think anyone has a bigger and softer heart than you.
