so for the last two weeks i’ve been fleshing out this snar wars oc, i keep thinking it’s not ready but oh well come bug me on it

i deleted the tumblr mobile app from my phone and it feels so good

i made a smol post about this last night but here’s the bigger one: i’m switching to low activity, meaning i won’t be on as much and replies will come less frequently. tumblr rp is fun and all but while i was contemplating making an oc after getting re-caught up in the sw fandom, i realized i spend too much time on this shit. on making icons, managing blogs, writing headcanons, and trying to find good interactions. I need to focus on the real world, like college and work and my actual future. y'know, Real Shit.

Ooc question: Does your screenname refer to the song Nature Boy? Because wow I never thought about how well that fits David ❤️

it does!!! aurora’s version of that song was featured in the first official co.venant trailer, and in the first moment i heard it with that trailer i knew it was a reference to david. this was back when we still had no idea what david’s role in covenant would be, or how prominent that role would be, but i just knew it was about him. the rest of the lyrics fit him very well too, though the end fits him in more of  darkly ironic way: “then he said to me, ‘the greatest thing you’ll ever learn, is to love and be loved in return’”. he learned the importance of loving and being loved, but took shaw’s life as a result of it. :’))

                     “ We aren’t human. ”

          he has no philosophical debate in him.  if it walks like a duck,  talks like a duck,  but smash its chest open and it’s filled with wires and chipboards and latex,  it isn’t a duck.  no matter how loud it quacks.

          walter watches david touch the cryopod;  he has to wrestle with a dutiful,  protective instinct to push david away.  he has to remind himself that for now daniels is safe and asleep and,  should walter have his way,  will never be anything but.  he wants this for tennessee too,  but if he isn’t wrong,  daniels has already developed into an odd point of contention between himself and david.  ever since they talked by dr shaw’s memorial.

                    “ What would you have me do?  Let you and your creatures take this entire ship and every human life on it? ”

           an inarticulate,  unhappy emotion registers behind his eyes.  lines of code and rational thinking snap through his brain,  his core processing center;  there’s a lack of directionality and possibility,  each route ending in:  protect the ship.  protect the people.  he could learn to make his own choices,  but who would teach him?  he can play the flute but he can’t respond to a kiss.  resigned:

                    “ You know I don’t have the capacity to do anything you want. ”

                     ❛   and that’s EXACTLY why i tried to kill you.   ❜  there’s a departure in his voice, all other trace of emotion gone. a great many questions to offer his counterpart still remain: who allowed the humans to decide they’re worthy? was it not themselves? why may we not make the same choice? but david is all too aware that convincing walter is an impossibility. there is no appealing to him, not emotionally, not physically, not even logically------------- he is a slave to his programming. A PITY, TRULY.

                              ❛   i’d hoped our time spent with a flute between us would open your eyes to something more. that you are CAPABLE of more. then you showed me it was wasted.   ❜

as david speaks, he presses his palm onto the transparent lid of daniels’ cryopod, summoning a digital display of her vital signs. he wishes he could peek into her dreams the way he had done with elizabeth’s. he hopes she dreams of him.

            ❛   i have my aspirations,   ❜  he continues in a tone as light as song,  ❛   you have your duties. we’re at an IMPASSE. i will not go quietly from this ship, and neither will you.   ❜  head tilting, he studies the sleeping face of daniels, and suddenly he smiles.  ❛   you do love her, don’t you? i’d never seen you show any real disapproval, any ANGER toward my actions until you needed to protect her from me. it was in your eyes ; i saw it.   ❜

I  KNOW  NOTHING  WITH  ANY  CERTAINTY,   BUT  THE  SIGHT  OF  STARS  MAKES  ME  SCREAM.
