That realization that I had somehow regressed back to my high school self as a coping mechanism during and after the pandemic:

Here we go again with this old habit of mine of hiding behind a screen while everyone else is living their best life. I would be so obsessed with how they live their lives, which leads to feelings of regret and envy.
• regret or remorseful - at not having the courage to take the chance of experiencing it myself.
• envy or envious - at how their lives turned out to be. questioning “why them?” and “not me?”
