welcome to a redacted soul eater au post! here, i try and discover what it'd be like if you merged the soul eater world and mechanics within the redactedverse. this is the ninth post in the series of posts i'll make regarding the individual characters and their listeners! we've got elliott & sunshine on the menu. enjoy!

elliott —
soul type: weapon
weapon type: poleaxe
compatible with: sunshine
because dreamwalkers have abilities that don't really effect the waking world, their soul isn't impacted by their empowerment in such a realm. even so, some dreamwalkers may be seen in their weaponform a lot more in dreams than non-dreamwalker weapons, which might be due to the fact that their weapon form and human form are technically one.
in some cases, dreamwalkers may wield their own weapon form in dreams, and practice with themselves. in other cases, dreamwalkers may use their abilities to train with their meister within dreams as to not disturb the outside world. elliott doesn't take heed of either of these ideas, but they're interesting to note. maybe not for this dreamwalker, but for another?
i'm not sure when i'll write for aaron/smartass, but i want to mention that i intended for them to both be axe-adjacent weapons. elliott is a poleaxe, whilst aaron is a pickaxe. this is also kind of funny because i made david a fireman axe, which i suppose in some way connects the three, but that wasn't really intended.

sunshine —
soul type: meister
strongest meister ability: wavelength control - an ability all meisters hold, but skilled meisters are able to use their wavelength on the offensive resulting in it's own attack.
compatible with: elliott
considering sunshine's unempowered status, there isn't much going on with their meister soul. they're quite skilled in the art of wavelength control, however, which is something not a lot of meisters can say- especially when it's related to attack-based control of their soul.
even so, it seems there's remnants of something within sunshine's soul. it's dark, but not in a scary way. it's big, and daunting, but welcoming nonetheless. could this be related to their connection with the river of death, or is it something we haven't seen before?
i'll be honest- i haven't decided what i want brachium to be like in this au. i actually contemplated not including him at all. if or when i do figure out his place, he'll get his own bonus episode, but for now, who knows what he's like in this universe?
lite backstory:
for every post i make for the characters, i'll add some au backstory to really fill in some details you may be curious about!
after the unexpected survival that became sunshine's near-death-experience, their soul has felt a lot more at ease- but, also, tense. there's something lingering within it that they can't seem to shake, but because other meisters have told them that there isn't anything they can see, sunshine doesn't worry too much of it. maybe it'll pass, they think- maybe it's simply a shift of the tide?
whatever it is, elliott has tried his best to soothe their mind about it. once the two established their relationship, they agreed that they weren't fond of the strict weapon/meister lifestyle, and so they decided only to use elliott's weapon form when in dire need. even so, that didn't seem to prove well against a certain meister and his plans to save a lover, even in this universe.

bonus episode 1: “the little monster”

welcome to the first bonus episode: “the little monster”. ‘bonus episodes’ are posts related to the typical soul eater au, but outside of the typical format. because caelum technically doesn’t have a listener of his own and is a unique sort of character, he gets his own post.
hopefully this all makes sense, because we’re going out of the typical ‘weapon/meister’ stuff. enjoy!

soul type: monster soul — a powerful soul that doesn’t follow strict boundaries. monster souls have specific abilities unique to themselves. monsters vary from harmless to malicious.
caelum is still a d(a)emon- as i’ve explained before, d(a)emons are one of two things when it comes to their soul. they’re either a demon weapon or a monster soul. in this au, caelum is the only explicit stated monster soul that we explore.
monster souls typically follow a specific theme. for example, there’s a ‘cat witch’ monster in the canon universe of soul eater. there’s also a ‘bloodsucker’ monster. for caelum, i follow his icon, and have him follow the theme of a starry ram.
caelum’s abilities/moveset(s) follow ram & star themes. he also looks a lot more like a sheep, and has unique abilities to himself like hovering or transformation (he can be a lamby!). he’s outside of the human norm, appearing more fantastical.
he tends to roam around where freelancer or gavin may be. this is because monster souls are considered dangerous due to their power, and if let alone, can cause chaos. freelancer & gavin take on a caretaker role to caelum.
caelum’s soul is distinguishable- it’s quite small, but this is intentional. he doesn’t want to come off as malicious otherwise he’ll risk being hunted.
there was a point where i wanted to make caelum a “little witch”. witches, in the soul eater universe, are evil beings who have incredibly powerful souls and abilities. “little witches” (chibi majo) are witches before their prime- they hold strong abilities, but are too young to utilise them properly. i decided the monster approach came across better.

lite backstory
as the same in canon, caelum approaches freelancer and tries to influence them positively. unlike the usual canon, though, freelancer doesn’t recognise caelum as a monster until they’ve developed a close relationship with him. as much as the reputation of monster soul beings is quite on the fence, freelancer doesn’t seem to mind, taking caelum in and caring for him like a family member.
there aren’t many differences between canon caelum’s story and soul eater au caelum’s story. it’s basically the same. however he’s noted as much more powerful, but harmless, so he doesn’t utilise his power unless he truly feels like he should.
