Spotify is a fantastic place to find and discover new and old music, but it can also be a wonderful source of literature, audiobooks, and old radio shows. As a fan of all of these things, I have put together a list of some of my favourite non-musical playlists!

Great for research projects, this playlist includes the very best of the famously frightening poet Poe. (I love his work but lack the focus to read it on paper, so this playlist has been a godsend for several English projects and papers!)

The Victorians
Explore the sensibility of the Victorian era through some if its best poetry: brooding, sceptical, romantic, whimsical, and nonsensical.

I love how so many people have been confused and amused by that guy in the Sochi Olympics who was at the top of the slopestyle track during the men’s competition just casually knitting away
and it turned out to be Finland’s snowboarding coach.
Finnish sayings and expressions have some mysterious people who everybody knows but nobody really knows who they were or are.
Eetvartti - Kylläpä se teki Eetvarttia. As stated before, when something feels good it makes Edward. But who is Edward? Nobody knows. Not even Erkki.
Erkki - Ei sitä tiedä / syö / halua Erkkikään. “Even Erkki doesn’t know / eat / want that”. Erkki is a person who knows and does a lot of things but there are some things so bad or mysterious even he isn’t capable of knowing or doing them. One of those things might be his own identity
Esteri - Vettä tulee kuin Esterin perseestä. “It’s raining like it came out of Esteri’s ass”. Who is this lady with seemingly spacious butt? Nobody knows.
Ellu and her chickens - Ovat kuin Ellun kanat “They are like Ellu’s chickens”. Nobody knows who Ellu is but her chickens are messy and unorganized.
Jokinen - Levällään kuin Jokisen eväät. “To be all around like Jokinen’s lunch”. Much like Ellu’s chickens, Jokinen and his lunch aren’t well organized either. They are topsy-turvy.
Matti - Olla Matti kukkarossa. “To have Matti in wallet”. This Matti finds home in empty wallets. When you’re poor you at least have Matti keeping you company. Matti might actually have origins in Bible (Matti -> Matteus -> Matthew)
