executive dysfunction is legitimately physically uncomfortable. i’ll be trapped between two things, weirdly caught on how-much-time-it-might-take-me. i take hours worried im going to take hours doing things. i’ll sit on the floor for the entire day, caught up in the middle of not-doing the chores i actually do want to be doing.

& the amount of mental energy that goes into it. & the legitimate amount of anger and discomfort and self-hate. is not “being lazy”.  it’d be a lot less work if i didn’t have to fight myself to just get up and do it. 

i just need you to understand it’s not effortless. it’s never effortless. it’s not “okay let me just get up and finally start doing this.” it’s more like. i am slamming my foot on the pedal but the car is in neutral and nothing is moving. it’s more like shouting instructions into a dying telephone. it’s more like being trapped in a small electric box, and someone who hates me is administering shocks.

vent about home life

sometimes I feel like my mom is purposefully keeping me from growing up and being independent. I don’t even think she realizes she’s doing it, but whenever I ask her for help with being more independent (like having access to my bank account and learning how to drive) she says something to placate me and then it never gets done, and she gets really upset when I mention wanting to move out. I feel really stuck. and I can’t just leave, my credit limit is $500 and my bank won’t up it because it’s attached to my mom’s and her credit is fucked up or whatever, plus I have no life skills. I just want to be an adult and have access to adult things without needing my mom to approve it

currently crying at my local library because I came to a thing that no one came to, not even the event runners, and my mom can’t pick me up yet. I’ve been here for almost an hour. I’m frustrated looking at my writing and how bad this draft is going. I just want to go home and change back into my PJs and eat pizza

sorry but it’s actually so horrific how little of a sense of community people have, how little regard they extend towards the other humans around them. killing people for being loud on the subway or turning around in your driveway. loading your gun and waiting at the door because a child ran your doorbell unexpectedly. ring cameras, neighborhoodapp, community watch group Facebook pages. you’ve assigned yourself the role of the one true peacekeeper and casted everyone else around you as a threat to be controlled. there’s no connection or love or compassion. just a deep distrust and hatred.

and the people who face the most significant consequences from this are the ones who are already deemed as outsiders. people of color, especially Black people, disabled people, people with mental illnesses, homeless people.
