okay hey i was delirious when i made this but i mean it. like i think a lot about shit like... the rise of the "frutiger aero" look and how people describe it as kind of a stolen future - which i am NOT gonna call anyone dramatic cause it feels like that. the culture shifted out of this ecofriendly paradise land that was supposed to be the future and instead went into this ultrasleek nightmare that tells us to ignore any and every bad effect. things are just less fun. its all minimalist and there's no bounce or hope. but here's the thing. None of us are ever going back! so you have to create. you have to make what you want to see be that on your own or through others. if you miss when things were bouncy you have to make it bouncy. if you don't know how to make it bouncy than bit by bit pick up the hobby of learning how or work with people who know how. If you wanna go back to early 2000s fashion U are alive and u should do it and u should get into the study of putting together things while ur at it. If you want a game thats xyz You gotta do it. And you gotta do it bad. Make your first Unity Project and its gonna be sucks and dumb but you will have MADE IT and that's cool as fuck. You gotta make things you gotta define your own existence you gotta go to bed crying and think that Yea, but tomorrow I can doodle dogs on sticker paper and decorate a water bottle or something you just have to make things. it's all we've ever done. we are never going back but we are going to make it better

sorry for coming out of nowhere with that! i don't talk too much on the subject here because i have a v small following and an even less active one.... its just tumblr is easier to get my thoughts out bc its made for bigger posts

i feel like we gotta make it really obvious who can have an educational role when it comes to, for lack of a better term, leftist things & also it shouldn't ever be treated with the "mean girls tumblr clapback!" attitude or else we get things like that heritageposts ask. i understand everyone is tired and i have never been one to be an educator and i'll tell you that straight up with the amount of times i've screamed my fucking lungs out about things i'm just not the one, but a snarky "you're already disengaged" response from someone asking in good faith even if you're tired just doesn't work out well when you have as big of a platform as you do... i think it's better off to just not respond if you don't have anything worthwhile to say on the matter

i think we all forget the idea of not falling into bitterness and despair and that we should actually strive to educate those who are lost but want to learn especially if they're reaching out. we have lived our entire life under this voting system and it's quite frankly dumbing it down to act like the only people who don't get "both sides are bad, so just (vaguely) Don't!" are privileged white people when the confusion around our election system exists in many disprivileged groups as well. we cannot simply dismiss their fears of "what if it manages to get even worse?" (which usually stems from the mindset of 'but one's more mask off which may embolden people, the other isn't) with snarky clapbacks about how it's already godawful (which it is, but doesn't answer the question) and if you have any concern or confusion you're a lost cause or whatnot - we must never forget our empathy and leave people behind in the dust just because we have clear eyes. digressing back to the original point, the intent of the message being asking what to do, it helps no one when everything is so vague - there are a couple of reblogs talking about local elections, unions, direct action, mutual aid, etc. that are really helpful but are just going to be overshadowed by op and a brigade of tumblr users in an era they should have left when they were 14 going "lol ops right, you're just a loser" like where did the idea of helping each other go. when did the idea of understanding complex political systems and how they actually effect our world become "easy"?

like i said im not an educator. i get tired and i get pissed off really easy so i get it, but also at the same time it feels quite frankly cruel to not just maybe copy paste some resources, and it feels a little telling that an ""alignment""/standing/Whatever word you might use that prides itself on uplifting the underprivileged, understanding and making accommodations for all, etc. etc. gets so utterly rancid when someone wants to understand how a view works, is trying to unlearn a system and needs to reach out for extra help about it.
