Why are “RK-series” androids so important to the canon story..?

RK200 Markus is actually a RK800 / RK900 “Connor line” predecessor (just in case you didn’t knew it, Markus is also an “RK”).

RK lines seem to be one of the most well protected secrets at Cyberlife. They seem to be the only androids made with deviancy (feelings) from the start, and the details about this specific line are very few. - As we know Markus was a gift to Carl from Kamski itself, it’s obvious that Markus was NOT designed originally to be “a caretaker” (due to many of his features we see later on the game), and the next RK we know is RK800 Connor, who is a detective with forensic capabilities, and furthermore, the RK900, that is made to deploy by the US department of defense… ((so basically the RK900 is a militarized and possibly “weaponized” version of RK800 Connor)). - It all stands to reason, RKs are for police or military use… so there is a chance Markus original purpose was regarding law enforcement of some sort, or even military.

It’s a well documented fact that androids have being used on the battlefield by the US but there is a concern in “how capable they are at the moment of taking moral choices”. - An android, as a machine, will always “accomplish his mission” with no regards of civilian casualties or ethic implications. - Are the RK lines specifically designed by Cyberlife to have feelings/empathy (although no “free will”) and being able to take “moral choices” in the battlefield?, ultimately replacing all human soldiers?

This might be “why” RK800 Connor doesn’t inform Hank about anything else when he reads Markus model and owner during that particularly awkward scene at the chapter “Public Enemy” (when Connor sees Markus broadcast on the screens and analyze it). – If the RK series are a series of prototypes develop by Cyberlife as part of a secret new generation androids for the department of defense and/or police, it stands to reason the secrecy of Markus existence prohibits other RK androids to give specifics to humans (such as Connor hid this info from Hank).

((as we see on game, Markus is an excellent commander and strategist, positions only occupied by humans so far at the moment of the game))

((Connor and Markus show that RKs are capable of making “life-and-death” decisions, evaluating moral consequences and civilian deaths))

Now it also stands to reason that RK models are all prototypes for deviancy (as we already establish Connor is). - If you look carefully, when Kara goes deviant (she is an “AX400”), she touches the shoulder of another android (AP700) asking for directions, and the android doesn’t goes deviant, he just ignores her.

BUT!, when RK200 Markus is looking “how to get to Jericho” (even before finding the place), he goes and asks another android “parked” on the street and you can see RK200 Markus “transferring his deviancy” as the led light of this android blinks to yellow/red (*he also seems to transfer it remotely and unconscious of it, while he’s sitting at the bench and when stands up, an android on the “parking” turns his head blinking red/yellow led*).

So we presume other models of androids CAN transfer deviancy by making an effort (as for when they attack Cyberlife stores in different groups to free other androids), but, RKs can transfer deviancy without even knowing it, or much more easily than anyone else **(RK lines might be a sort of “patient zero” for deviancy, and the fact that is estimated that RK200 Markus has being working/living with Carl for around 10 years or so, there you get why Connor points out at the office “It all started in Detroit, and quickly spread across the country”).

This also might be a useful thing at a battlefield situation (remember the tensions between US and Russia), RK200 Markus can even hack other androids from large distances (as we see on “Freedom March”), and if other androids had an “existential crisis” during their attacks, due to the spreading of Deviancy from the US Cyberlife RK models, it will be much more easy to kill or dispose of them (as we see RK800 Connor doing it to the already deviant Daniel in “The Hostage”, he uses Daniel deviancy to trick him and accomplish his mission).

So apparently only RK models have the power and the feature of being deviants from birth and “convert” other androids to deviancy even unknowingly (possibly because they have the feature but haven’t being trained to use it properly). – They (RK series) seem to be the origin of deviancy itself and as RK200 Markus learns he can “transform” others while infiltrating the Cyberlife warehouses at the docks (converting the guard unwillingly), and Connor (once he goes deviant) has already learned how to do it by common sense, although he looks oddly to his own hand as he prepares to “deviate”/”wake up” the androids at Cyberlife tower, as it’s the first time he does this willingly.

RK also seem to be the only models of android who can “pre-construct” scenarios (again, something extremely useful at a battlefield). We see Markus doing this during his search for Jericho and in many other times, and Connor doing it when he goes deviant at Jericho to fight the soldiers or the guards at Cyberlife tower. - It’s unknown if Markus can also “re-construct” (and not only “pre” construct) just like Connor does at the crime scenes calculating “what might have happened” in the past, but since RK200 is a predecessor of RK800 is possible Markus haven’t got this features installed, furthermore there is the chance Kamski has modified RK200 Markus himself (before giving it to Carl), but “for what exact reasons” or at what extent, it’s really a mystery…

* Note, one of the most battle useful and coolest RK-800 (and up) features is being able not only to upload his memory to a new unit but to actually transfer himself and his own consciousness to another android.

*(is yet to know “what happen to” or how other “RK” lines where between Markus and Connor. Although we can infer that RK100 might have never being completed or ended up as a failure, RK200 Markus might have a couple “relatives” up to RK800 / RK900 Connor lines)

* Fun fact, you can lead a successful revolution with either RK-Markus or RK-Connor at the head of the deviants, but!, if North (WR400) takes the lead, she fails the expectations and ends up in the extermination of deviants.

**[please do correct me if I’m wrong here, but I’ve unable to win with North on my 30+ “revolution endings”, and, haven’t see no one winning the revolution with North as a leader anywhere, so…]

…maybe RKs are really “that special” after all.
