There is a light gesture of fingers,  put at the height of his lips as he looks at him, wanting to shut up. He hasn’t been expecting such an attractive specimen, not when he is having a hard time, and thus all he wants him to do is stay quite so he can collect his thoughts. It doesn’t help that his last name is so suggestive.

He stands up from the desk, and turns around to look through the window, holding on the sill, tight. “Ok, repeat what you said since you mentioned my name. Please, and my apologies, but It is hard to understand anyone when the least you’re expecting is to see a God.”

“My name is Mark Matthews, I’m a journalist. I read about your recent findings on your various expeditions to other countries with sites rich in history and I wanted to interview you about them.”

HE SIMPLIFIES the inquiry this time considering it seemed this man was DISTRACTED in some kind of way. He figures it’s just his state of mind. That was something could almost definitely relate to. Not really being able to focus properly and being lost in thoughts no matter how hard you tried to focus.

Wyatt let out a frustrated sigh, he tried to be patient with the press knowing they were just doing their jobs, but sometimes they put themselves at risk while working and he would rather have a pissed off journalist than a hurt or dead one. 

Mark was one of those relentless ones, and really he had found it endearing at first but he also had to respond to his boss and he would hate if it seemed like he had a soft spot for the man. “Listen…” He said, a hand on the man’s shoulder and the nice tone he used when he needed to be understood, “I’m not trying to make your life difficult trust me, but you’re making mine, I don’t want to see you hurt and I will drag you out in cuffs if that’s what it takes to keep you safe and away from my case.

HIS BROWS raise for a MOMENT. Cuffs indeed. Mark was a SMART MAN. Ian always referred to him as THE KIND whose mind could run a COUNTRY if he tried hard enough, but there’s a limit to that in THE WAY of restrictions BOUND by idiotic laws. HE’S TRYING to get a story, and HE WON’T let anyone stand in his way. 

RESPECTFUL, but with a firmness to SIGNIFY he’s IN NO MOOD for theatrics he gently removes Wyatt’s hand from his shoulder.

“And I can ASSURE you, Detective that I am NOT so easily deterred. I studied LAW in high school as part of my JOURNALIST degree, I’m very familiar with it as a matter of fact. But if there’s ONE thing Iraq taught me with regard to journalists, YOU’RE meant to push boundaries. THE TRUTH hides and it hides deep, and so IF YOU expect me to back down you’re going to be disappointed.”

A PAUSE.

“I didn’t come here to ARGUE with you, I was merely making my stance abundantly clear. Do with it, WHAT you like, but don’t mistake formality for complacency.”

“I wouldn’t worry too much, midterms are stressful but you’ll be fine.”

HE GESTURES to the paper with a small GRIN, it’s an impressive one she’s written there, and he’s glad to see she’s MADE such strides, RUBBING the back of his neck with a nod.

“Clean up the last paragraph by making the few little tweaks I suggests, a few little odds and ends and you’re golden. It’s a splendidly written paper and I think you’re going to great on it.”

“My apologies Detective, but if you think a warning is going to stop me from pursuing this case as you do then you’re sorely mistaken.”

HE’D BEEN STOPPED in his tracks before, but he wasn’t so easily deterred. His journalistic prowess was SOMETHING of a spectacle and he’d chase leads wherever they dwelled, and as he cants his head to the side he draws in a QUIET breath.

“I don’t mean to obstruct justice, but I’ll have you understand I’m relentless. I WILL find the truth.”

“Good afternoon Mr. Coxx.”

EVER the prim and proper one he is, but Mark had a certain professionalism that he always held when in regard to meeting people for journalistic purposes. Taking his seat with a grin and smoothing out his suit he cants his head to the side, ONE leg crossed over the other with his NOTEBOOK in his lap.

“Thank you for meeting with me. I was very intrigued when I heard of your archeological escapades and I thought an interview would be a superb way to discuss your findings so I could perhaps pick your brain a little.”

A PAUSE. He’s still a little shaken up being back in the states. AFTER the last major story that effectively ended his willingness to be a WAR CORRESPONDENT he was readjusting to LIFE back home. He raises hands with a SMALL grin on his face but an apologetic one at that.

“–––didn’t mean to sorta bodyslam you there.”

It felt being out. He didn’t need to hide a part of his life from others and himself, which made him feel much more lighter in a sense. He could joke around more and just be romantic with Mark rather than keep what they had a secret. Sure, there was still hate and that but he found himself handling it pretty well. Especially since he had his brother, Beau, his brother’s friend, Roman and surprisingly his ex, Daisy.

Standing back up, he continued to pose, changing his arm positions, and turning a little so his jeaned ass was in view. “I don’t always take my clothes o….” And just like that, his tank top was off. “Look at the definition my body gives when I pose like this.” He winked at mark, posing back again.

“ARE you a model now or something? You should be thankful I know how to do laundry, because I don’t think you’ve ever used a washing machine before in your life Melnick.”

HE SHAKES his head, turning resting the small of his back on the WASHER with his head canted to the side. HOW SILLY it was that he sat there dancing in the middle of the apartment. HE’S CERTAIN Penny would appreciate the view if she came in and SAW it, but he’s thankful she’s OUT for the day busy trying to FINISH up the finishing touches on the next big BROFINDER update.

“You REALLY intend on keeping this going huh? Just because it’s the SUMMER doesn’t mean you can just dick AROUND you know. Your next semester starts in two weeks mister.”

An important tidbit is the canon divergence I have with Mark, he only did like two of the brofinder dates before he got kinda bored of it, he respected Penny enough to try but he figured out pretty quick Brofinder was for Hookups so he was kinda just like
