found some old notes and one of them just said “kravitz wants to unionize” and this is what i got from that
[ID: a black and white comic of a ceremony for Lup and Barry becoming reapers. In panel 1 The Raven Queen says “I now pronounce you… part of my sacred reapers.” In panel 2 Barry and Lup have their eyes closed as she speaks. In panel 3 appears an excited Kravitz between startled Barry and Lup, and says “Great! There’s more than one of us now!” Panel 4 is almost the same as panel 3, but Kravitz has his hands around them and is smirking as he says “Let’s unionize.” Barry and Lup look amused.]

we don’t really see much of the animus bell, so there’s not much information about it. we don’t even know what barry intended it to do, or why he made it. it can sever a soul from a body (which may not even be its main ability, just what the liches use it for), but other than that, all we know about its offers of temptation come from its offer to magnus. how would you like to live forever? our only other piece of information about it is its creator. barry bluejeans; necromancer; a human in love with an elf.

One thing that’s hard to get about the Magnus Red Robe reveal is that from our perspective, it’s an “oh shit what’s that about” moment. For Magnus, he can’t even think about it! The voidfish stops him from trying! He sees a picture of himself wearing a red robe and his mind just goes to static. It’s white out. Like a missing tooth except if you’d forgotten a tooth was supposed to be there, it’s just empty space and a dull ache. Which, I would argue is a vastly more distressing experience

to me, the most fascinating (and utterly unintentional) feature of TAZ Balance's narrative structure is the way that on the first listen, Tres Horny Boys are the audience surrogates because they, much like us, have no idea what the fuck is going on, but on all subsequent relistens, then Lucretia, and sometimes Barry, and arguably especially Lup in the umbrella become the new audience stand-ins, because just like us, they are, in fact, painfully aware of what the fuck is going on :)

Barry and Kravitz don’t really like each other at first — they tolerate each other, sure, but Kravitz has been hunting Barry down for ages and Barry has understandably been kind of wary of reapers.
But then Barry mentions offhand how loud Lup snores or Kravitz brings up how Taako takes such long showers that end only when the hot water is all used up, and it turns into a game of “Yours does that too?” And they swap stories of their significant others’ annoying but lovable habits and begin to tease them together
And Lup and Taako realize they kind of miss when their husbands didn’t talk to each other

I love the implications of the seven birds being from a more technologically advanced world than faerun (knowledge of TV, understanding of machine guns "count the shells", using microphones ect) because how many things was Lucretia not able to erase? Across 99 planes, it's impossible that she managed to get everything. And how well was she really able to introduce the more medieval concepts of faerun into their memories?
What did the THB think everyone was doing just waving swords around rather than pulling out guns; did they just accept it and move on? Imagine Lucretia trying to explain them to a weapons development department of the BoB to equip her employees. Lucretia, a records keeper, who cannot have a great understanding of the inner workings of firearms. Vaguely describing rectangles that explode to a reception of horrified looks.
Or Taako repeatedly asking Sazed to supply him with various kitchen utensils he insists are vital for the recipe that just Do Not Exist. Magnus, complaining that he can't play little games on his stone of farspeech, while everyone around is completely baffled at the concept. Everyone around them not only not getting their pop culture references, but being fundamentally incapable of understanding them.
I just think there is something so funny about them functionally time travelling and then promptly forgetting they were from a different era at all. And just. Having to get on with it.
