Physical alterhumans (gonna be specific for nonhumanity in my post, since alterhuman and nonhuman are not synonymous) have always been around, but the community has a long history of saneism and ableism. This led people to overcorrect and go "no no we don't ACTUALLY think we're nonhuman, we're not âCrazyâąïžâ". This problem still exists, but it's not AS bad as it was some years ago.
Circling back around to alterhumanity, after reading the official coining post, it's not defined as purely non-physical. That's just something people keep tacking on due to, well, the thing I described above.
Question for the physical alterhumans here
I support yâall but I have a question: I heard someone say that alterhumanity is supposed to be non physical so how is physical alterhumans alterhumans?/gq
Whether you are therian, alterhuman, otherkin, otherhearted, copinglink, or nonhuman in some way, if youâre a bird or avian headmate, this post is for you! Avian headmates have always been and will always be cherished and valued members of the system community, and we are so happy to be able to share this space with you! So hereâs to all the aves and ave-adjacents out there!
đŠ Shoutout to aves with phantom wings, beaks, feathers, talons, webbed feet, gizzards, vents, crops, cloacas, crests, or other bird parts!
đȘș Shoutout to aves with nesting, flocking, flying, migrating, hunting, hiding, or brooding instincts due to their avian natures!
đŠ Shoutout to those who are hybrids, have some bird-like qualities, or who are only part ave in some way!
đ„ Shoutout to aves who vocalize in birdsong, whistles, trills, squawks, cries, chirps, caws, and other sounds that birds might make!
𩱠Shoutout to those who are questioning if they are birds or avians!
đŠ Shoutout to those who are aves without having a specific idea of what species they are!
đŠ Shoutout to aves who craft wings, tails, beaks, or talons, make nests, collect shiny objects, ruffle and preen their feathers, and do other things to help live their best avian lives!
đŠ Shoutout to aves who are comfortable acting and presenting as a human despite actually being a bird!
đ Shoutout to introjects whose source is fully or partially avian, which has led them to identify as an ave as well!
đŠ Shoutout to aves who have always known about their bird identities, and to those who discovered this aspect of themselves later in life!
To any bird or avian headmate who reads this, we hope your future will be filled with peace, happiness, and species euphoria! Know that your identities are real, you are valid, and you belong in your system and the plural community just the way you are. We believe that your future is bright, and will be filled with things that bring joy to you and your system!
Whether or not you follow your instincts, experience shifts, or have noticeable bird-like qualities, your life experience as an ave will always be special, unique, and valued. We truly are wishing the very best for you in all that you do! Keep soaring high, our feathered friends, and have a wonderful day!
I'm a system member and I'm just a dromaeosaurus, I'm not paleokin or a paleotherian or anything. Another way to explain it is if you saw a squirrel outside, that squirrel isn't squirrelkin, it's just a squirrel.
Although I use "physically" to explain that in my case, I don't mean physically as in the outside body of the host. I mean physically as in my body inside the system
is there an alter human label where youâre not otherkin in the âindentifies asâ way but rather you just Are that thing. just not physically? the term otherkin doesnât feel right for me being a piglin but itâs the closest thing iâve found ?
(Foreword: Iâm not vaguing anyone in specific, Iâve seen this a number of times recently.)
I am gonna need you guys to start clarifying what you mean when you say âbelieve weâre/theyâre actually animalsâ, because if youâre using it to mean âbelieve weâre/theyâre physically animalsâ I need to point out that that is not what youâre saying, youâre saying âgenuinely identify as animalsâ. Actually is a synonym for genuinely, not physically. If you donât believe/feel yourself to actually be your kintype, youâre by definition not otherkin at all. Using âactuallyâ to mean âphysicallyâ is at best unclear and at worst implying that people who donât identify as physically nonhuman âknowâ weâre not ~really~ nonhuman at all, which I know is not what any of yâall mean but is definitely how it reads, especially to anyone not already intimately familiar with the discourse. Please use the words you actually mean, Iâm begging you guys here
(Decided to start a series of posts based on this prompt set! Some are a bit modified though to fit me. They'll all be tagged with "#drom's prompt answers")
đȘ” What is your species? How much do you know about it?
I'm a dromaeosaurus! I don't know much of anything about them though outside of my own experiences.
đŸ Do you live in an area similar to your species's habitat? If not, would you want to?
I don't live in a similar area actually! My original habitat was more like a temperate rainforest, super overgrown. It looks nice but I'm not sure if I'd want to live in that forever.
đŠ Do you prefer to be seen as your species or as a human?
Definitely as my species. Being seen as a human just doesn't sit right.
𩧠Are you a wild or domestic animal?
Wild!
đș Do you own any gear? If so, what is it?
We used to have a supermotion tail, but it fell apart. Would love to make a new one though! The original was never fully completed anyway.
Personally, I don't see the point in holothere as a term? From what I can understand on the official carrd, it just seems to be a term for a term that already means the exact same thing. "Physically nonhuman" is already a term in and of itself, so the invention of holothere doesn't make...sense really? I can only see two ways to interpret holothere, and both seem questionable imo.
1. Holothere is seperate from physical nonhumanity; I've seen tons of posts act like this is the case, and yet also somehow is an umbrella? This one sounds like "you're not physically nonhuman enough, use holothere instead" (which is ????)
2. Holothere just means the exact same thing as "physically nonhuman" which, if this is the case, then why does holothere exist as a term if there's really is no difference? It seems to include things that "physically nonhuman" already includes
Iâve seen this new holothere term for physical nonhumans, and itâs nice that thereâs a term some might find helpful and may make conversations in the community easier to parse, but personally I kind of prefer not having a specific term for being physically nonhuman, at least for me
It feels like calling myself a lion holothere detracts from me just being a lion? It also feels somewhat othering in a way, as I donât think there are terms like this for non physical nonhumans? Unless we are just considering words like therian and otherkin to mean that but I donât think this is the case? That being said, I prefer nonhuman overall⊠to be fair, this is kind of why I just consider myself a lion and not specifically a lion therian or kin (despite the url) but there is enough overlap in experiences that I feel comfortable in the community
The term holothere was probably made by physical nonhumans for physical nonhumans, and I have no qualms with it existing, especially if itâs helpful to some, I would definitely just prefer not to be called that, personally.
Iâve also seen a rise in posts about supporting holotheres, which is great, but I donât know, it just doesnât feel like theyâre talking about me. Itâs a shame because itâs supposed to be a good thing, but I suspect folks will not be making posts about supporting physical nonhumans alongside supporting holotheres because they will find it redundant, and there will be less support for those of us who do not like this label, and I feel like I canât be alone in feeling like this? Perhaps I have misunderstood something, but I would like to hear how everyone else feels about it
I'm putting this here so everyone knows where I stand but, I'll block you instantly if you're a sysmed/anti-endo. I don't support system exclusion, it's super sucky
Super curious if there's any other prehistoric physical nonhumans! Doesn't specifically have to be a dinosaur like me, but I wonder how many are out there
