I genuinely don’t get how you put up with Merlyn, like enough to spend that much time with them. They’re a bit too much, honestly. I’m surprised you haven’t seen them at their worst yet, that’s honestly a new record! Seriously, I don’t get what you see in them. You deserve better.

It's often difficult for her to read people's tone, especially when they're as calm and collected as Irene is. Still, Shy knows that her friend wouldn't lie to her...even if she didn't like this whole situation.
"It's...I don't like it, but it's not as bad as I thought it would be. My worst fear was dying and leaving my loved ones alone, you know? And now, I guess...I kinda get more of a choice in the matter."

"I hope you're not like...mad about this. I don't think you would be, considering I didn't choose this, but, it doesn't hurt to ask." There's something different about her, no doubt about that; Shy's aura is absolutely dim and dismal, there's no way to describe it but dead, and yet she's still alive. She's standing, walking, talking, all things a normal person could do, but she's not a normal person. Whether or not she's still a person is up to debate at this point.
"Even with all of this, I hope we can still hang out! Even if I can't do things during the day anymore, it should still be fun."

She’s the first person I’ve met in forever who makes me want to actually stay in one place. I know I can’t… And… I know I can’t just ask her to go with me either. I wish I could. So I’ll enjoy her friendship as long as I can. I don’t want to go.
