Skydiving - the biggest jump of my life 20 years ago, the most thrilling, exhilarating, overwhelming & a lifetime experience with an incomparable adrenaline rush.⁣⁣ #onceinalifetimeexperience #skydivingkiwis ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ While still in the plane before the jump, there was hysteria with inexplicable, uncontrollable laughter to cover up the fear. I was harnessed to my instructor for the tandem dive who shared some final instructions. On reaching 10,000 feet, the airplane door opened & we sat on the edge with our feet dangling in the air. The wind gush at that point could have effortlessly drifted me away for miles. It was all too overwhelming, my heart was pounding a million beats a minute & my stomach felt queasy. Before I could process the whole scenario, I saw the thumbs up sign from my instructor to check if I was ready & I nervously reciprocated, with one last crazy thought in my mind - what if the parachute doesn’t open? But it was too late to contemplate & with a little nudge I jumped into the open vast sky.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ The free fall was exhilarating, flying freely in the sky like a bird with open arms. The speed towards the ground was so impactful, that it made my cheeks flap, the corner of my lips extended upto my ears, displaying the widest smile on my face ever. The view of the earth was breath-taking and I wanted the time to stop right there. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ All of a sudden, I was pulled upwards as the parachute deployed & opened, our speed decelerated down to 1/10th! I was soaring with my beautiful & bright, fluttering parachute wings, learning how to manoeuvre it. At this point my body & mind had calmed down, enjoying the vast expanse of beauty around me, while slowly descending towards the ground. #dreamcatcherskaash ⁣⁣⁣⁣ We were all geared up for the landing, soon my feet touched down on the luscious green field that I had been viewing from above. The jet boat ride over the rapids through the narrow canyons at a speed of over 85kph. The experienced driver performs thrilling gravity defying stunts, my favourite part being the 360 degree spins OMG, what an exhilarating thrill ride. It was a unique experience, at that time to stand under artificial snow, freshly made by machines. The journey on the cruise was amazing while spotting the dolphins on the way to the beautiful Stirling waterfalls of the Fjords. They chose few people from the audience and asked to perform the Maori Haka dance with them. ⁣ ⁣ This Maori haka started as a war dance, it was an ancestral war cry, one to intimidate the opponents with aggressive facial expressions, like popping eyes wide open and sticking their tongues, while stomping their weapons.
