After a Solavellan run I decided to do another one with an Inquisitor that would hate Solas. You know, to heal my broken heart. It didn't work. It only made me love him even more.
I’m watching Inquisition dialogue videos (yes, I know, but this game is enormous and I’ve yet to hear like ½ the dialogue) and I’m reminded of the fact that if Solas REALLY SUPER HATES you, he’ll greet you by saying “to what do I owe the pleasure?” in the most pleasant-sounding voice. and that’s beautiful.

Welp, I finally did it. Finally got that little green check mark. I finished my fic. My ode to my tinfoil hat is complete. It is goddamn fucking done! I still need to go back to fix some things and polish this up, but that's easy money. The hard part is over, kids.
This is the first fan fic I ever wrote/writed/writtended and I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I started this story. But at two years and nearly half a million words later, it was far more than I anticipated and ever thought I was capable of. To say this fic took on a life of its own is an understatement. Not only did this thing Frankenstein its way out of my head, but it also took over my life. So if you've taken the time to read this fic, dropped a kudos, or a bookmark, or a comment. Thank you, truly.
Writing this was a hell of a lot of work (blood, sweat, tears, and lots of overthinking), it wasn't always easy, and often felt impossible at times. Trying to juggle irl life, writing, navigating the fandom experience, and tempering my expectations of my friends and peers... Let's just say it's been a learning experience.
But I did it. We made it. We're here.
So I'm gonna take a victory lap, take a breather, possibly a nap, and after that, Grandpa V and Old Man River will be back at some point. Idk when yet.
Because, of course, I'm an idiot and there's a part II to this fucking thing.
It only took me 33 chapters to get to the punchline of this joke...

I'm really having a hard time to link to this crap Youtube video, because I don't want to give it more engagement. I loathe myself for having clicked on it and then watched in horror and disbelief. Just someone who pulled stuff out of their ass to prove their fever dream.
Basically, the only reason that River even remotely cared about saving Randy was to get into V's pants.
I won't stop you from searching for it though. The title is "Why River Ward is the worst Romance Option".

How the actual fuck is wanting kids and marriage "heteronormative"?! Listen, I'm the dykiest of dykes™ and I want marriage and kids? I guess I'm gaying wrong. Also, pretty sure that Feminism is about letting women make their own choices. You can be a strong woman and still want romance/domestic bliss. The two aren't mutually exclusive, you bozos. Honestly, I'm still trying to figure out how River is anti-feminist, and I cannot come to a conclusion on that. Prolly like that weird video of the guy claiming River is a psychopath with arguments completely pulled out of his ass.
I also don't think heteronormative is bad. It is the default for centuries and we could use less of it, sure, but that doesn't make it bad.
Judy's relationship with Maiko ended pretty toxic, and not on Maiko's end. She may be a bitch, but she tried to salvage the situation. Judy jumps from trauma (Evelyn killing herself in her bath tub) onto V, which is not healthy in any way. Kerry is a 89 year old guy fucking a 21 year old (I hate V's new canon age btw), and Panam is Panam. Sure, she's loyal, but her attitude can be problematic as well. "Do as I say or I throw a temper tantrum" is not the way to go.
All that said, I can see how River hitting on V after two encounters if off-putting to some. And not having an option to refuse his advantages that is more suitable for lesbians is annoying as well. Though I think the one for the pick-up lines works well, since hetero bros hitting on lesbians does happen all the time.
That doesn't make him a douchebag or anti-feminist however.
