Please don't bind fics. Also you need new friends, unfortunately.
Also also use paragraphs next time because this was hard to read lol.
Also also also, this is a dramione discussion site, something like this might be stretching that definition a bit.

I lose interest in following WIP's of authors that have several works in progress and are not consistent in all of them; it has happened to me that the fic's that I am interested in, the authors abandon them for new stories.
This happens all the time.
I find myself not caring for WIPs in general anymore. I need to read completed fics. There is only one author whose WIP I read, and they are very consistent, tell you when they will upload, and always do it. So, for that one person, I'm okay with starting a WIP. But anyone else, I don't. Just bookmark it and check in a few months to see if it is complete.

Sometimes when I say I don't want to read a dramione where drastoria are together I feel like people are judging me for it. Because it's always 'why not?' or 'it shows just how wrong Draco and Astoria are before we see dramione in a better light'. Like, I'm allowed to want to not have anything to do with drastoria, you know?
Yeah, you just don't like it. No one wanna reads about their favs being with other people.

It bugs me when authors keep having Draco referenced as Hermione's biggest bully in Hogwarts. He mostly picked out Harry (among the trio; he pushed around others too). He called Hermione mudblood when she spoke to him directly but by the definition of bully (as in persistent, aggressive behaviour) that was Harry. I'm pretty sure JKR said Hermione's biggest bully was Pansy, because Hr is a JKR self-insert and Pansy represents JKR's school bully.
Yeah sometimes authors exaggerate a bit. Harry and Draco were the enemies, I doubt Draco cared for Hermione during that time enough to single her out. He seemed to only do so when she provoked him, which she did when she was defending her friends. He even picked on Ron more than her.

The number of times, when reading a marriage law fic, authors have Ron blow up about Hermione wanting to "try" with Draco when she turned down Ron, and then villainize him bothers me. It's understandable that Hermione preferring to marry Draco over Ron with their history making Ron upset.
True, you are best friends, and you had feelings perhaps, so it's not crazy that Ron would approach Hermione or get angry that she rejected him for someone like Draco who he knows as a bully.
If they are gonna make it a Ron-bashing fic, you need to give a bit more context as to why Hermione refused Ron, make it believable that he is not a better alternative.

Guh just dnf'd a fic where the author had drastoria marry after Draco and Hermione fell in love, then Hermione slept around in her grief. Drastoria divorced and it ended on DHr but there was no hint whatsoever to these other pairings. I'm like... ugh.
This is why tagging is important!!!! We don't wanna read a fic where 90% of the story is not the main pair!! At least put the side pairings in the additional tags section or mention it at the very beginning of the fic.
It's like they are deceiving the fans by not disclosing these other relationships.

Authors write for themselves, they share their (beutiful and tbh life changing) stories with us because they want to feel the connection. Recognizing someones work not only encourages them to keep writing- but its an existential relief of some sort, like even if they were no longer here, their work would be and thus they could be brought alive too through that.
Idk, if you dont like the work you dont have to fake a compliment but telling someone how much you liked their creation is so so beautiful.

None of these fancasts look like Draco to me.
Same but, people have their own interpretations of the character, so I do think it is interesting that this one character has so many different "faces" to people.

i would like to see more fics with normal spicy scenes, with the fumbling of the first times but not being virgins rather when you are with someone for the first time and things are awkward, you know? i feel that many times the smut scenes between draco and hermione, are perfect and mindblowing for her, like to justify that draco is the one.
Even in novels, it's like that. The sex scenes are perfect! It's funny really.

I had a fic on my TBR that I took off because though it was a soulmate fic, DHr weren't soulmates. And though he fell in love with her, Hermione's true soulmate - an OC of all things - came to him and talked Draco into dumping her so "they" could be together. I mean. That's not actually a dramione. That's a Hermione/OC story where Draco is just the other man in her life ffs.
Yeah, I saw that and someone else mentioned it here I believe.
It was very wrong to use the Dramione tag.
And I have noticed this a lot with fics in general. The author posts all the pairings in the relationship part, so readers don't know which relationship will be end game. I like it when the author posts the non-end game side pairings in the additional tags part.
But I feel like sometimes authors do that to just get clicks. Because you put the Dramione pairing in the beginning of the tags, people are gonna assume that this is the end game pair and the pair with Hermione and the Other one is the side one that'll break up.
I hope that people left comments on the fic telling the author to change their tags so as to not confuse future readers.

So many fanfiction Dracos are cool, collected and hide their emotions well. It's hard to associate them with canon Draco who was a snot who exaggerated things, overreacted and wore his emotions externally. I've read the books and seen the movies so there's a merge there that just seems off when reading ff Draco.
True, but in year 6 he didn't. He kept everything to himself, he seemed to realize that this was real now. Before, Voldemort and Death Eaters were just something his father told him about. But in year 6, it was real. And he kept everything in.
It makes sense that as he aged, and after everything he went through, he kept to himself, he shut down his emotions to protect himself and hid them until he knew it was safe. Year 6 and being a Death Eater, knowing that your family will die if you fail, made him that way. It's hard to get out of that way. I think it's a good representation of an older Post-War Draco.

this fandom is seeing more and more people state their stances on fandom and money in terms of binding and selling fanfiction but why do we seem to give fanartists a pass when they use patreon to profit off dramione in the same way? even if the art they're drawing isn't for any specific fic they're still using those characters and even if it's legally a different animal, MORALLY it's still the same
they're taking money from other fans to line their pockets instead of being part of the gift economy that we have here
and I really think it's shitty of us to condemn one but allow the other
I am pretty sure that the fandom feels the same about that too. It's not right. We have said this here on this blog many times. People agree with us. People send in their own opinions, and it's the same. Don't profit off of someone else.

From Etsy, if you have an Etsy account, please report stuff like this.
I came across this when looking for a fic, that apparently was deleted, but this person made sure to save it so they can make an ASTRONOMICAL profit off of the author! Disgusting!

have you ever gone through your ao3 bookmarks and found some fics you don't LOVE anymore (maybe just like or they're fine) and deleted them?
Oh yeah. Sometimes, the fics haven't been updated in a while, and I check them and can not remember anything about the story. So I check the summery and the last upload date, and if I am not interested anymore, I unsubscribe.

yeah demanding kudos and comments feels entitled. I don't always like a chapter and before leaving a negative comment because I don't like something, I prefer not to say anything... and now that I remember, some time ago I saw a tiktoker/writer, who asked for a certain amount of hits in a03 to publish the next chapter 🙄
Oh, yeah. I never leave a negative comment even if I really didn't like the chapter. I know that taste is subjective, so just because I didn't like the direction the author took doesn't mean it's bad. So, I just exit the fanfic, or move on and ignore that part and read on hoping that the direction changes again to something I like a bit more.
But I will never be negative, that is mean and doesn't add to anything. The author doesn't deserve that.
Also the TikToker/author, ugh! I hate that. That's bad and will put me right off of all their work.

would love to drop my opinion on the “fanfic writer seeking attention” anon - as someone who writes fic (and this is my opinion, it’s just a me-thot doesn’t apply to everyone ☺️); I write for myself and do promote it because it’s something I’ve worked hard on and want others to enjoy.
Do I gobble up the affirmation of comments, kudos, rbs, likes? yuhhh tasty as fuuu - would I love for my fic to go viral? yuhhh but it’s not for the attention, for me personally it’s like ‘wow I’m not actually ass at writing and it’s enjoyable’ esp after writing for well over 10yrs and getting a writing degree 🤣☠️
and l stay writing it bc I genuinely love writing, enjoy story telling, and would still post if I got nothing on it (which some of my stuff has nothing lol) but my itch to publish it isn’t for the attention. It’s solely bc I worked hard and it’s for me and the fans in that fandom if they choose to interact w that content. I think about the WIPs and completed WIPs I have that will never see the light of day.
It is always nice when people leave feedback or do the simple kudos, it shows that people are reading your story, that your idea is a great one, and that people are enjoying your art.
I understand the importance of that. We all want our art to be liked. It encourages us to do more, improve, and expand.
Different people want different things, and that's okay.

writers love to say that they write for themselves and do not owe anything to anyone, and then they complain because they do not receive kudos or comments 🤪 they should be honest and accept that making fics are for attention, nothing wrong with that
Yeah, just be honest. Nothing is wrong with wanting recognition and comments/kudos, but you shouldn't expect it. And complaining about it just seems a bit entitled.
Sometimes you just don't know what to say or maybe you forget to click the kudos button.
And some authors even complain when you leave a simple "I loved it!" comment.
But hey it's better than holding your fic hostage and demanding a certain number of comments before you release the next chapter! That was a big trend in the early 2010s on ffnet! I hated that!
