Set in the Forbidden City during the reign of Emperor Yongzheng of the Qing Dynasty, The Legend of Zhen Huan is everything a palace drama should be. Along with the intricate plot, the costumes, setting, and music are absolutely gorgeous. It’s hard to look away from the stunning headdresses and gorgeous dresses that the concubines wear. Added to that, you have wonderful acting thanks to Sun Li, Ada Choi, and Jiang Xin. While 76 episodes is quite the number for a drama like this one and the fact that the plot does slow down just a bit in the beginning, for me, it was certainly worth it all. Once I finished watching this, I feel like no other palace dramas can compare.

The story follows a young concubine by the name of Zhen Huan, who initially starts off as an innocent and kind-hearted person who wished to avoid the harem conflicts. However, she was able to catch the attention and gain the affections of the emperor, leading other concubines to become jealous and scheme against the concubine. Zhen Huan realizes that in order to protect herself and the people she loves, she must lose her kindness and fight back against those who threaten her.

步步惊心's sequel 步步惊情 is said to come out soon !! I hope 若曦 and 四爷 will have a happy ending this time
