FFXIV Tips for Collecting All The Yokai Watch Weapons

First, the big five:

SORT YOUR INVENTORY BEFORE YOU START FATE GRINDING! You're gonna get a lot of useless enemy drops, so sort your items so you can easily find and sell them.

Spend your seals! Little by little, you're going to amass a lot of seals. Spend them on something! Buy a ton of Ventures. Or Material Containers: Even if you get a minion you already have, you can give them to friends.

Party up! Get friends; Invite complete strangers who are doing the FATES at the same time as you; Set up a Party Finder; If someone invites you to a party, ACCEPT! Just note: Even with a party, you need to get a sliver of enmity to get credit for the FATE.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GET GOLD MEDAL ON THE FATE TO GET A LEGENDARY MEDAL! I've gotten so many on bronze and silver ratings.

TAKE YOUR TIME! It sounds like the event is lasting until the preparation of 7.0. You don't have to get all 17 weapons in one day. Maybe do 1-2 a day. For the sake of your sanity.

MORE STUFF BELOW

-Best classes: Blue Mage (you probably see why already), Tanks (enmity grants FATE credit), healers (same as Tank, but you can also heal party members)

-Recommended Blue Mage Abilities: Any ARR Primal Spells (instant damage, securing FATE credit), any AoE spells (cooldown or otherwise, just to get some AoE damage), Goblin Punch (instant attack, giving you sneaky FATE credit), Missile (see next tip)

-Missile is a Blue Mage spell that can reduce the HP of certain enemies by 50%, including SOME (some might be immune) FATE bosses. This is extremely handy and speeds up FATEs, but FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WAIT A SECOND! Let people do SOME DAMAGE before you rip them a new one!

-Bring healing. You never know. Healing abilities/spells, healing items, support chocobo, healing party member.

-Take note: If you have a map preference, you can just stay there and cycle between the different minions who grant you Legendary Medals there. (ie: I stayed at Western La Noscea and grinded Komasan, Komajiro, and Hovernyan back to back)

-BEST GRIND LOCATIONS:

Western La Noscea: Great teleport options, FATEs spawn RAPIDLY

Central Shroud: Crystal is in the center of the map, allows for easy teleport and travel

South Shroud: Frequent FATEs, two great teleport options

North Shroud: Same as Central Shroud

East Shroud and Middle La Noscea: Not great, but they'll be the easiest to travel for Shogunyan and USApyon

Azim Steppe: Great teleport options for Enma and Demona grinding

Dravanian Forelands: Best for Lord Anata and Zazel, cause every other HW map location is massive and a nightmare.

ok so like. imagine. you're a high-ranking government official and one of your colleagues has announced his decision to step down and retire, and named his successor, so you and your coworker-bestie-husband(™️) go on an official administrative business trip to go meet said guy. and then you arrive and you find A Cat in the bushes outside the office. it's in poor shape but its microchip says it actually belongs to your other colleague-and-friend. you are bullied into taking the cat to the vet AND letting it tag along despite your protests. and you finally find the guy you were supposed to meet and the cat is like. staying in the room. where you are supposed to conduct aforementioned highly confidential job interview. and you try to shoo it away but the guy you're trying to interview is like No i want the cat to be there. Because i'm nervous. About the job interview. Let the cat stay. I trust him because my pet bird loves him :). so the cat gets to stay. and then you keep going and you bump into yet another old acquaintance of yours (now retired and living her best hippie life) (which is highly frowned upon) and she goes Oooooh! Is that my cat you've found? :) and you're like, what the fuck is the deal with this goddamn cat, but you can't say that outright because you are a government official on a very important mission, so you go "i wasn't aware you even had a cat? also the microchip says it belongs to our other colleague" and she goes "oh well no i don't but clearly this cat is wearing the collar i give to all my pets so it must mean he's come from the future :) where i will own this specific cat :) hi little kitty! pspspsp!" and you're like, what the fuck is wrong with everyone today? and then the cat looks at you and says "she's right. i come from the future. where everyone has been turned into cats since the world ended. also i will kill you in about twelve thousand years from now. fucker."

Yet another reason Ysayle should have lived is she ends up being such a major piece of foreshadowing for the truth about Hydaelyn. Ysayle summoning Shiva into herself is the first piece of evidence we get that a person can become a primal, which is the setup for the eventual reveals of Hydaelyn and Zodiark's true nature. For her to be there when we finally meet Hydaelyn in the aetherial sea? It would have been an amazing full circle moment.

Also I think that as a treat Ysayle should have gotten to mutter under breath, "Oh, but everyone made a fuss when I did it."

1. Toki’to was born in the Black Shroud, the second son and the sixth child in a large family. He took up the tradition of most Shroud Keepers and left to travel on his when he was still young. It was not a kind lifestyle to him, and he sought to settle in Gridania, where he became an apprenticed carpenter. Still, he struggled to find community or kinship in Gridania until he met a young Keeper woman named Avi. They fell in love and Toki’to, having little reason to stay in Gridania, traveled with Avi across Eorzea. Toki’to is quiet, but attentive, with an anxious and kind heart. He’s happy his children have a family and community that will love them as he does.

2. Avi was born in Corvos, and was 10 years old when the Garleans invaded. Her family, along with a handful of other families, fled to Thavnair and further West by way of boat. They sought refuge in Limsa Lominsa, but were redirected south towards a coupling of islands beyond the Cieldales. Their group settled on the largest one, named Sostomi after a Lalafelan pirate captain who once called the island home. The experience of fleeing Corvos and traveling by boat for months and weeks at a time left a taste of travel and adventure in Avi, and she yearned to see more of the world for herself. She left for Eorzea when she was deemed old enough, and traveled across the continent for many years before she became pregnant with her and Toki’to’s first son, Aya. They returned to Sostomi together to raise their family in the arms of Avi’s loving community. Avi is adventurous and thrill seeking, and regularly acted out her adventures with her children. She does the same now for her grandchildren

3. Though Avi’li writes often (excluding that time he was a fugitive in Ishgard, and excluding the time when he was traveling across the world to help end two occupations) but he’s sparse with the true details of what he’s experienced. How can he put into the words some the horrors he’s seen? How can he bare to make them worry? Despite his best efforts, Avi and Toki’to know he keeps things from them, and they worry. Every day they don’t get a letter from Tataru, who now keeps them abreast of Avi’li’s wellbeing, is another day another one of their children won’t return home.

Respectfully, anyone who believes that Roxas shouldn't have come back in kh3 is wrong and also doesn't know how to make a satisfying end to a characters narrative.

I could maybe forgive thinking Naminé or Xion shouldn't have returned, as they at least got to make the informed decision to return to their counterparts themselves. It would still be wrong but I can at least forgive it.

But Roxas? His entire story is about being allowed to be yourself regardless of what anyone else around you says you should be. It doesn't/shouldn't matter if he comes from Sora, because he is someone else entirely. It's his life, not Sora or anyone elses. Having a story like that end with him being violently forced to return to Sora when he doesn't even know anything about what's going on is flat out bad writing.

Did he accept that he had to die for Sora? Well, sure, but only after getting to beat him within an inch of his life. Only reason he accepts it is because he literally has no other choice but to. He can't keep clinging to the anger and misery at his circumstances forever.

And, you know, it probably helps that the person this was all for also fucking hates it. In no way is Sora happy about what happened to Roxas. Of course he'd bring him back, it's Sora. The situation is so unfair and tragic that having it end with him just staying in Sora forever would literally go against the essence of the entire series.

Kingdom Hearts is, at it's core, a series about bonds. Roxas was established basically immediately as having very important bonds! His best friend literally died for him! He has friends that don't even know it because it was another version of them, but they still feel that bond to him anyway! You really think they should've just thrown away a character whose bonds transcended the boundaries between data and reality just like that? Get real.
