I think Jacob is my favorite character from The Quarry.
He first comes off as a self-centred jock who doesn’t respect a no from Emma, but it eventually becomes clear that his jock persona is performative and the reason why he keeps pursuing Emma is because she keeps flirting with him after they broke up despite knowing how infatuated he is with her and he’s too dumb to navigate the mixed signals.
When she finds him crying he doesn’t try to hide it, and if he gets infected he starts crying again, calling himself a “Stupid stupid boy! Summer is over! Summer is over and you’re nothing! She doesn’t want you! Nobody does! Nobody wants you!” and suddenly the beginning of the game where everybody are mocking him and brushing him off gets very upsetting.
Basically he’s a big dumb himbo who isn’t doing himself any favors in his desperate need for validation and human connections. I can’t get too upset at him for getting them all into this mess by breaking the car. He thought they’d just have to stay at the camp for one extra night, not get monster-mauled.
Maybe some day I won’t like the least popular character. Maybe.

stoner dylan hcs
okay so Dylan accidentally left his bowl at home when he went to camp. like he made sure to bring his grinder, his lighter, his weed, etc etc the whole thing, but somehow he forgot his bowl. so he ends up having to make one by puncturing holes in a soda can. definitely not his proudest moment
abi FOR SURE found his stash at some point and he had to swear her to secrecy. Its why she assumes the vial with the weird smell is dylan's
dylan only smokes when he's sure he's not gonna be interacting with the kids any time after (so mostly at night or early early in the morning)
however he has no problem being high around the other hacketteers and Mr. H (the later requires a lot more pretending to be sober but in his opinion its not that much harder than masking normally)
because he's smoking out of a can this summer, he consequentially gets rlly bad cottonmouth every time he smokes so he keeps a bunch of water bottles in the radio hut bc of it
abi ends up accidentally telling emma and subsequently jacob about dylan's stash so now he's sharing his weed with them sometimes. he's kinda conflicted ab it tho bc A. he certainly likes having smoking buddies but B. he only brought enough for 1 person over 2 months.
however, the secret does stay with the 4 of them for the rest of the summer. that is until Jacob reveals the existence of his stash when he asks Dylan to bring some weed to the Bonfire party.
I feel like dylan has a natural talent for acting sober idk
Sometimes dylan will smoke to help himself sleep or just to quiet his mind when he's overwhelmed
he only smokes like 3 to 5 times at most in a week tho. he tries to keep it in moderation so he doesnt end up relying on it.
Dylan's bowl is literally shaped like cat paw. like its a cute grey cat paw. i cant see him having anything else
he also has a popcorn bag shaped bong. or or one of those pixel heart shaped ones
