I was looking for dog and cat mystery books when I came across your post about Murder, She Purred. A. Can't believe anybody is just out, referencing that movie lol. B. Do you have any other dog and cat solving the murder recs?

This was a little unexpected but uhhh wow!

Okay first, dog and cat mystery solving team is a weirdly niche genre, I know, I'm disappointed too, anon. Murder, She Purred is the only one I know specifically in that niche

But there's also 100 Deeds For Eddie McDowd, which involves a bully who does young and is sentences to committing 100 good deeds as a dog alongside the kid he bullied most in order to go to heaven. Uhh, Sherlock Hound was a cartoon from the 80s by Miyazaki of all people about.... Sherlock Holmes, but a dog. Great Mouse Detective, of course. Ghost Dog is about a dog who returns from the dead to help his master cope with and possibly solve his parents' murders. Um....I guess there's always the book for Bunnicula, I don't trust the cartoon. (Technically there's TUFF Puppy but I don't know where you stand on Butch Hartman's work ATM)

Honestly, cat and dog mystery solving team is a niche that never should have been left behind.

Remember Me AU human Connor is kind of like “Hey, remember that LED? The thing human Connor doesn’t have bc he’s human? Let’s GIVE HIM THAT ONLY IT’S WAY WORSE.”

Bc I don’t think regular android Connor’s LED can be hacked to give him a waking nightmare.

But also also, RM AU Connor and BL Rhys talking about their data ports and how BAD STUFF happens when you stick stuff into them when you don’t know the origin of it.

Fun fact about the world of Remember Me: There are totally androids. Or things that are CALLED androids. They’re brightly colored almost-plastic looking vaguely feminine figures with some very stressed sounding vocal clips whose AI is limited and exist almost solely to carry things and perform small tasks and chores.

You literally cannot hurt them in the game. Either bc they’re not compatible with the Sensen, and thus not capable of being injured by Nilin’s Sensen remixing techniques, or because Nilin holds no ill will against the robots. They don’t hurt you, and you can’t hurt them. In a few spots, they may even help you by opening doors for you so you can hide.

But Cyberlife as Memorize, a company that revolutionized the world, through their digital brain implants that would give you full control over what memories YOU have to live with. It started as a noble effort, but now it’s out of control, and the slums are full of Leapers, addicted to rented memories and distorted by broken digital implants and physically mutated into something no longer even vaguely human, while Kamski sits in his company and tries to deny even to himself that he ever let this get so bad. That maybe it ISN’T actually this bad.

Featuring Kamski as David Cartier-Wells, the ex-CEO/founder of Memorize/Cyberlife, and Chloe as Scylla Cartier-Wells, the current CEO of Memorize/Cyberlife. Also starring Markus as Edge, the mysterious leader of the revolutionary group the Errorists/Jericho?

Remember Me AU

Human Connor in the world of Remember Me, and his Sensen. Part of him feels bad for having gotten the Sensen, for having his job bring down the Errorists, but on the other hand....WELL.

He’s doing much better psychologically without those memories. If he wants to look back on them, he just needs a computer terminal, but why would he want to? He knows what happened. He doesn’t need to live with the trauma every waking day. Before he got his Sensen, he was an absolute WRECK. He drank every day, he smoked every day, he either slept too much or not at all, and his diet was totally out of whack.

Now he’s been in pretty good recovery for a while, and the Errorists want to put all those memories BACK. It’s not like he doesn’t GET IT. He GETS IT. He gets their point. But, you know, he’s not like THOSE PEOPLE. The rich ones with their androids who spend millions of dollars in a single shopping spree and file away every single even semi-unpleasant memory. He’s not gonna become a husk. And he’s not the only one! There’ve gotta be lots of people like him, right?

His mission is to track down revolutionary leader Edge and bring him to justice. For the sake of everyone like him who desperately needs their Sensen and the memory management.

Update: I’m not dead! I’m just struggling with....focus right now. I’ve only been getting two days off the last couple of weeks (after getting three days off consistently for months) and I’m working with teenagers who just honestly drive me up a wall.

AND daylight savings and St. Patrick’s day (my parents are visiting) AND my birthday’s next month so I need to see about getting that off from work BUT it’s on EASTER WEEKEND so that’s gonna be dumb

AND.....

AND I HAVE EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 5. It’s a remake of the first game, actually, but it’s SO MUCH BETTER. The graphics, the controls, the weapon varieties, the AI, the dialogue....well, no, some of the dialogue still sucks, but it doesn’t HAVE to be good, EDF is a b-movie and good at its niche. I love it.

hmu for an EDF AU, tho that’d be EPIC.

1. Shiny Alolan Raichu “Honeybun” No one knows why this Raichu changed colors, or why it’s suddenly flying on its tail. But one “Honeybun” shares a taste for binge eating too many cookies. Connor picked up Honeybun as a homeless tiny Pichu and they’ve been eating unhealthily together ever since.

2. Rotom “Jonny 5″ Sometimes you investigate Deviant android locations, find no androids, and walk away with an adorable ghost robot pokemon following you home bc it just wants a home. And you say, okay.

3. Lycanroc “Sumo” Gifted to Connor as a tiny Rockruff by his dad, now a big fluffy Lycanroc who demands long walks in the morning, regardless of the weather.

4. Lucario “Knox” Met as a small orphaned Riolu while a teenaged Connor pursued parkour. The two trained together and are inseparable.

5. Blastoise “Surge” Hey look it’s the actual starter. Back when Connor had a family, back when things seemed normal, he chose a Squirtle as his starter. The story isn’t interesting, or exciting, it just sort of is.

6. Absol “Omen” This guy just sort of walked up to Connor recently and seemed to declare him his trainer. He’d just recently received his mission to investigate deviant androids, and when the trail went cold, he found Absol instead. They’re supposed to be seen as bad omens, but Connor loves the outcast to bits. It’s protective, he’s protective, and he loves putting a badge on his newest pokemon partner and taking him to work.

Also probably watching too much stuff about creepy and horror stories and the like. Is it any wonder my mom’s always confused and even sometimes upset about what to get me? My interests: kittens, puppies, pokemon, marshmallow-texture stuffed animals, and also ARG found-footage style horror the bigger the demon the better hells yes.

I know, I know, I went inactive again for a bit....

um

I caved and finally got Mystic Messenger. No one warned me it would be this addictive. Or that I might spend a bunch of information in between messages looking up stuff on Korean culture. (sorry, I know a TON about Japan, but my knowledge on Korea is like ZILCH.) “I need to focus on my TOEIC exams!” “*quickly googles TOEIC* OH YEAH, THAT’S TOTALLY IMPORTANT YOOSUNG.” (Although those apparently exist in America, and they can get you like scholarships and stuff at Universities or whatever, but when I was in high school they were only available for people in AP classes, so y’know...)

They gave me the option to use my own picture for my avatar, so now I have to sit through conversations about cats and how Zen doesn’t really like them and Jaehee is irritated by cat hair, while staring at my avatar of one of my CATS. WITH WHITE FUR.

I don’t know how it’s determined which route you’re on either...? Is it how many hearts you get for people? How do you tell how much you have for people? I’m doing this whole thing blind people and I can’t stop!

However that wasn’t the case with Connor, Alissia was grateful Hank took the time to explain that to her. Not seeing Connor in the office, she hummed in slight annoyance - she didn’t like people snooping around her club. Listening to everyone speaking, keeping her head down. When Hank got her attention, she watched him closely. “Do you think they know where he is?” She signed, referencing her ex-boyfriend. Alissia didn’t know where he was. “That druggy is like a blood hound, he’ll find me. You can’t let him find me.” There was panic in her movements. “He’s probably already looking for me at the shelter, he could be here soon.” She kept her eyes on the front door now.

“No one will touch you while Lieutenant Anderson and I are here, I promise.” Hank signed to her and glanced down the hall as a door swung open. Connor’s voice indicated he was still irritated but wrapping up his conversation-if conversation even was the right word for it.

“-three months, do you hear me!? Now do your shit properly for once and have a nice day.” It was perhaps the most passive aggressive disconnect button press Connor had ever managed, and it didn’t exactly make him feel any better about the situation. Slamming a phone down, or even flipping a phone shut always felt more satisfying-he wasn’t always pleased with the advancing digital world, however easy it made everything else. He grumbled with frustration as he shuffled back over to his partner. “Okay, so I found the assholes responsible, and if they fuck anything up again that badly they’re gonna be suspended. I apparently don’t command the respect to get them suspended right now, not without pulling strings, and I’d rather save those strings for...something else.”

UGH

I wasn’t really active yesterday bc Sunday and also yesterday was both Superbowl Sunday AND the first day of a thing that REALLY REALLY SUCKS. So Kaedynn complained about me being sent home from work (on the slowest day of the entire year) but then I just went home, popped a few pamprin and curled up in a ball in front of the TV and waited for death to stop standing over me. I didn’t go home and party or anything.
