you can't remember exactly how long you've been here. it could have been 10 years or 100 years, it all felt very much the same. you held many secrets, ones the wind would whisper to you. you're not even sure if you're real anymore; a witness to a story that is not your own. 

can you even remember your own life as well as you remember theirs? it feels so lonely.

KOUGAHIME // InuSan

kyudome​:

𝚏𝚛𝚞𝚜𝚝𝚛𝚊𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚒𝚜 𝚘𝚗𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚐, and while she feels it, the need to burst out laughing is harder to deny. she attempts it regardless. pursing her lips and closing her eyes against the onslaught of giggles. the truth is, she can feel them both dipping and diving and strategically sidestepping. kagome knew why she was doing it, but why was sango? was this guy this important?

this not romeo boner guy.

mustering up her best attempt at composure, she holds her head high and puffs out her chest. usagi would’ve had a field day with all of this. in spirit of their blonde friend, kagome grabs hold of her square boob and huffs.

                ❝ … that’s princess square boob to you, missy! i’m not asking the wrong questions, you’re just being a tighter lip than my mama’s purse strings and there are no questions for that. no open sesame or whatever those magical words are.❞ opening one eye to look at her, she sticks out her tongue. all in good nature. ❝ anyway, i’m not cursing you. i’d wish you thousands of years of happiness if i could. just… you know, as long as the guy is worth it. that’s all i’m asking! ❞ she holds up her hands in open defense again, both eyes open and wide. doe-eyed, even, for extra effort. ❝ if he’s worth it or good to you because you deserve the best, go-chan. you really do. and usa-chan, too. look, just say the word and i’ll get you a tinder if you need or want.❞

She can’t hold it any more. Just watching Kagome grab her own chest with such confidence and normalcy was as equally comedic as it was inspiring. It wasn’t often Kagome surprised her, but when she did Sango always felt the FLEX. It charmed her in more ways that Kagome would ever know.

                     “Princess is right.” Sango snickered and sobered only long enough to dip her chin with closed eyes in a semblance of gathered poise. Then it crumbled into upturned brows and a pinch to the bridge of her nose while laughing. A bone deep humor that shook her shoulders a little, It of course didn’t help that her friend had hit the nail directly on the head; which of course SPURRED her humor.  How could it not? A sort of ironic self directed laugh that bubbled with rare jubilance. “Alright, you got me and I better not hear any purse jokes after this or its Boxy for the rest of your life.” That stuck out tongue is returned nearly as fast as it received; delivered with a sigh that threatened to turn into another giggle. That was, until Kagome went all doe-eye’d and sugary. When the coral tiger sighed this time, her expression leveled as if Kagome’s energy was grating against her own.  It wasn’t -- and the jig was up when Sango cast her a side-eyed smirk before turning and briskly walking towards the kitchen. Maybe if she played her cards right, she might find out a few things about her sudden fixation to her phone. Not that most students weren’t. She’s definitely talking to someone.

                                   “Don’t worry... he’s worth it.”                                     Then she ran.

                     The warmth that surrounds her is familiar, moreso than just something familial; its something wholly canine. The Den at most any point in any of the seasons, could threaten sweltering with the literal dogpiles of bodies snoring, breathing and twitching in their sleep.  That wasn’t what woke her; it was the nestling restless wiggling of her youngest - an infantile squeak preluded the latching and suckling.

Eyes still closed, Sango’s hand moves from InuYasha’s shoulder to smooth and rub Hibana’s back while her sisters slept on around her. A quick peek confirmed the triplet still safely swaddled between her and InuYasha; and just as she was to close her eye and return to slumber she felt Kouga move at her back. 

                        Sango smiled sleepily as lips and fangs tease in soothing brushes of movements against her neck, skating the mating mark which had since healed but was still sensitive in its youth. Her hand at Hibana;s back moves to reach over her shoulder and find the wolf at her neck. Scarred fingers threaded through his hair, scratching softly from the back of his ear down to the nape of his neck; encouraging but also, calming. As if the moment had summoned him wakeful, the hanyo chose that moment to turn over as well with a grumbled whine about his own petting.

                        Her lip curved as InuYasha’s eyes, even in the dark, seemed to swirl and light with a soft unnatural glow, yet reached out to him still on a chance of concern; palm fitting to his cheek easy, thumb a feather soft caress, “Insatiable dog.”

KOUGAHIME // Sango

𝚑𝚎𝚛 𝚙𝚑𝚘𝚗𝚎 𝚒𝚜 𝚜𝚊𝚏𝚎𝚛 𝚒𝚗 𝚑𝚎𝚛 𝚙𝚘𝚌𝚔𝚎𝚝. if only this cute skirt had a pocket. and hadn’t that been her only complaint about it when she bought it with usagi, too? she should’ve listened to her instincts. instincts she can lament about ignoring later. the full weight of sango’s bullseye feels heavy. dead center on her forehead no less and maybe bringing up boner guy was a dirty tactic and one that could easily backfire, but she’d been desperate. kagome’s nose wrinkles. 

                  ❝ well, what else am i supposed to call him? romeo? you know he dies at the end of that play, that’s not very romantic, go-chan! ❞ tucking her phone into her blouse, and subsequently her bra, despite the lack of good that did her, her hands found her hips she could counter the tiger’s energy with her own combat. ❝ wait, wait … he didn’t ask you, but you did ask him? you’re picking and choosing things to tell me right now. doing that thing you do!❞

kagome squints, pointing a finger right back at sango. 

❝ i’m not saying anything, okay … i’m just saying that you know what you want and you don’t waste time and that’s a good thing! this guy better know he’s lucky if you want him. and if he doesn’t? i have two fists he can come have a talk with.❞ comically, stupidly, she lifts up both her fists and waves them in the air, eyes twinkling with mirth. 

It was right about now an errant thought passed her awareness, and while externally Sango remained poise and braced for anything. Internally, however; I miss Usagi... It feels suddenly so spacious in this apartment. Was it always this big? Where IS Usagi anyway??

                        Blinking as Kagome once again sped off in a rush of words, which Sango had no problem keeping up with... So long as she remained focused and not thinking about how close Kagome was - any sort of connection between the two could be USED and not for the happy reasons. “Romeo? Well, of course you’d jump -- I know he dies! Are you trying to curse me right now?” Her hand lifted now to rub her mouth with her palm, as if to scrub the humor out of her sails. Trying not to laugh and keep a serious face was one thing, but against Kagome it was entirely unfair and uncharted. 

Her hand dropped again, Sango’s poker face secured. This wasn’t about HER; this was about Kagome walking around on cloud nine.

                       “That thing I do? Haha I am not choosing, Kagome! - you’re asking the wrong questions.” Unable to hold it anymore, Sango snickered and shook her head knowing it was typically a poor move to show ones hand like that - but this was Kagome, and it was so stupidly charming and characteristically perfect.

                               “Your boob is square now.”

@gcldess I AM GONNA REPLY TO THAT !!! just as soon as i stop dying kjfgre I LOVE PUCCA her narrative about sesshomaru had me in tears ‘being a step mom sounds like fun’ / [ inuyasha’s absolute unit of a brother ] giiiiiiiiiiiiirll 🤣

𝚜𝚑𝚎 𝚠𝚊𝚕𝚔𝚎𝚍 𝚒𝚗𝚝𝚘 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚜. she did. sango is notorious for being too perceptive. a quiet threat in the dark, waiting to pounce. well, she’s a tiger - she really is. and kagome knows this and adores this about her friend. it just happens to be more fun when those skills of perception are pit against usagi and not her. 

                    ❝ what other convers– ah! it’s nothing! some school related project thing. you know how people wait until the last minute on stuff like that. it’s ridiculous. he’s had the whole break to come up with something and he just wants to copy.❞ the pitch hike in her voice does enough to give her away, but kagome adds insult to her own injury by bringing her phone close to her chest. her smile is wide, excruciatingly so, eyes closed as she smiles. she attempts a recovery clearing of her throat and then, ❝ don’t worry go-chan, i wasn’t texting your boner guy, if that’s what you were curious about.❞ a beautiful segue; nervous energy is put into good use by kagome nudging her friend with her elbow. 

❝ how are things with him, hm? are you two official? did he ask you out? wait, no - you’re totally the type to make the first move if you’re feeling it.❞

                         The very instantly Kagome began to babble and hugged her phone to her chest in an obvious, reflexive move; Sango knew she had her. If she had a tail, it’d be lazily swishing out behind her -- a predatory purr of satisfaction might’ve colored her words.  As it were, her smile widened just enough on the corner to flash a bit of teeth. “Uh-huh.”

                          Kagome is so much more fun to tease than Usagi.... Sure the blonde girl panicked far easier, but when Kagome tripped she tried to keep her cool so hard it was almost trademark in the way she insisted on pushing through. Tilting her head, Sango crossed her arms and set her expression into one invested and attached to the other girls dialog. Of course -- that was until she brought InuYasha into it. 

Brows lift, lips part and her expression falls slack with momentary surprise turned into light indignation that translated into a chuckle. “M-MY boner guy?!... Will you stop calling him that!” This time it was Sango’s turn to experience a shrill break in her voice. Clearing her throat and unwilling to let her roommate turn this around on her so effortlessly, Sango set a hand on her hip while pointing at the phone that was still heavily guarded behind clutching hands.  “No, he didn’t ask me.”                            It was on the tip of her tongue to release a litany of questions, chief among them being why Kagome NOT texting InuYasha was her go-to placation...  Now when her finger pointed, it was with deadly sibling accuracy; dead center to Kagome’s cute little forehead.

                                “Hey! Just what are you trying to say huh?”

                        Its hard to hide her mirth, but the coral tiger manages with a slow blink as her gaze moves from Kagome’s face down to her presented phone. As the girl answered the question, Sango lifted one hand to cup her cheek in bored contemplation. Do I scare her again...?               Totally.

                        “Definitely more.” Her agreement was quick and almost dismissive, as a curl to her lip gave her a ‘cat cornering a mouse’ expression. Her other hand lifted to point, as if to touch the smart screen. “What about the conversation before that one--- HERE?”
