Sick of characters who are simply Cool or Badass or Horrifying or Edgy all the time. They need to be pathetic too. It elevates them. It’s like adding a bit of salt to a sweet dish to bring out the flavour. Tbh, I think a character can only be truly horrifying, badass, etc. WITH a lil bit of pathetic in 'em.
Star Trek Deep Space Nine 6x7, “You Are Cordially Invited”
[ID: screencaps from DS9. Worf has O’Brien, Bashir, Sisko, and Martok gathered around a table and tells them, “Jadzia and I will be married on the station in six days.” Julian says, “There’s nothing more romantic than a wedding on DS9 in springtime.” Miles adds, “When the neutrinos are in bloom.” / end ID]
I’m in love with how rude and confrontational Julian is. Telling Gul Dukat that he finds him offensive. Saying “your mom” to Quark. Full-tilt just yelling at absolutely anyone who says something he thinks is wrong, no matter how important or dangerous they are (the official representative from the Romulan Empire, for example). Speaking as someone who has spent their entire life trying to become less terrified of conflict, he is inspirational.
im angy at how the writers handled her, i wish she hung out with the ds9 teens more and did teen/adolescent stuff ⁽ᵃˡˢᵒ ʷʰᵃᵗ ʷᵃˢ ʷᶦᵗʰ ᵗʰᵉ ᶻᶦʸᵃˡ/ᵍᵃʳᵃᵏ ʷʰᵃᵗ. ᶦ ᵐᵉᵃⁿ ᶦ ᶜᵃⁿ ˢᵉᵉ ʰᵉʳ ʰᵃᵛᶦⁿᵍ ᵃⁿ ᵃᵈᵒˡᵉˢᶜᵉⁿᵗ ᶜʳᵘˢʰ ᵒⁿ ʰᶦᵐ ᵇᵘᵗ ᵃᵇˢᵒˡᵘᵗᵉˡʸ ⁿᵒᵗ ᵇᵉᶦⁿᵍ ʳᵉᶜᶦᵖʳᵒᶜᵃᵗᵉᵈ ᶦⁿ ᵃⁿʸ ʷᵃʸ⁾
