I love when people are genuinely excited about our plots/ships. I love when I’m not the only one who’s like “!!!” I love it. @ my partners you will literally never annoy me by being overly excited about our ships I love it so much.
@allnostalgic asked: "they warned me not to trust you." from rivet!
↪ I'M NOT SURE I CAN TRUST YOU PROMPTS || accepting!
Of course they did. How flattering of them to know a threat when they saw it!!
It was about time!!
"Ohh, that must mean they like you!" He clasped his hands together, seemingly pleased by the warning she'd received. After dealing with her dimension, he needed the ego boost. But apart from what he'd been told about Rivet, and from their very brief battle together, he still knew next-to-nothing about her. But judging by the fact that Ratchet and herself were apparently planning on maintaining communication, it looked like she was about to become a lot more familiar. This could be a disaster for him. But... then again, maybe her luck was even worse than his. "—But really, who can you trust these days??"
@allnostalgic asked: "had i known what you were up to, i never would have agreed to this." / from alister, maybe with that little plot we talked about? :D
Hm, and that's specifically why he hadn't told him what he was up to. That was the whole point of MANIPULATION, after all! And it was all the more effective when it was emotional. Such as—being given the hope to fix a mistake that doomed your entire species! And honestly, with all the regret the other had, it had almost been too easy~
"What are you so upset about?" He started, silently enjoying the look on the other's face. "Everything I told you is still true. You can't expect to rewrite time itself without a few people who don't get it! Just be patient. Once everything's in place, you'll have nothing to worry about! Everything will be exactly as it should be again! Trust me…"
What the!? Why was he being lifted!? The absolute audacity of it!! How dare Neftin lay a hand on him—let alone lift him like a fussing cat!!!
"HEY!!! LET GO OF ME THIS INSTANT, YOU GIGANTIC OAF!!!" He twisted and wrenched around wildly in a futile attempt to escape. But within seconds, found himself face-to-face with Neftin's very unamused glare. The look in the other's eyes shut him up instantly. And now the robot just hung there in momentary shock. So... Neftin wasn't going to help stop Vendra, huh? Typical. You betray someone and their family ONE TIME, and they never let it go!
"You're not still upset about that whole 'threatening your sister' thing, are you? Is that what this is about? I thought we could move past all that! You know, I'm still willing to help you! No Nether energy required! Just get her to stop messing with me, and I'll help you out! Trust me, it'll go way easier if you do it! —AND PUT ME DOWN!!!!"
A low growl was the first thing to escape the giant after he was done listening, looking far angrier than he was earlier, before he suddenly stuck out one of his massive hands to grab a hold of the robot and lift him up from the ground with ease. A move that then led to him being brought him right up to the brute's growling face. "Let's make one thing clear here: I ain't your buddy, doc. Far from it.
And there's nothing fair with what you have to offer us. I may have been close to falling for it once, but not again. If you want my sis to stop then you're going to have to go and figure something out on your own. I'm not helping you, doc."
This was it! He was going to escape! Completely absorbed in the tapping of keys, the chaos outside the security doors became mere background noise. Now his attention focused onto one singular goal: finding a signal that would get him out of that place, once and for all.
Just a few more seconds and—
"And where do you think you're going, huh?"
Just like that his train of thought screeched off track, gaze snapping up to lock on to the source of the interruption with disbelief and frustration. RATCHET. By the time he wrestled his bewilderment down enough to respond, rage surged through him like lightning. NOW WAS NOT THE TIME!
"YOU." His line of sight tore away from his enemy and back to the controls—freedom was so close, and yet this detestable rat dared to distract him! A sudden explosion rocked the area, shortly followed by the sounds of distressed screams. Yeah, that was his cue. "I've had enough of this place!!!" He turned back to the controls and began tapping away once more. He just needed a signal, then he would be out of there! "—And it's just been so nice without you around! So don't follow me! In case you haven't noticed, I hate being around you!" There was another deep, reverberating CRASH coming from behind the large security doors nearby, indicating that backup was likely just minutes from storming that place. Things were getting desperate, but he'd waited far too long for this to be stopped now. "Feel free to take my place though!!"
Being the hero who had been in charge of keeping Nefarious in line for quite so many years ( for the most part, anyway ), it was no wonder they asked him to be a guard at this very prison every now and then. "Just in case", they'd say -- as if they worried their prison's security system wasn't good enough to hold the robot in for long. While Ratchet himself hadn't been the one behind his recent capture, he still agreed to the occasional shift to ease their minds. Most times, Clank tagged along; other times-- such as today --Clank stayed behind to help with Talwyn's duties back home.
Figures that today is when the security system is finally tested, resulting in total chaos of escaping criminals. Just another Tuesday, right? While Ratchet could make an effort to keep as many criminals in line as possible, he knew why he was here -- and that was to keep Nefarious behind bars. It was easy to figure out where he had ran off to due to this focal point.
His entrance was a flung wrench, knocking the robot off of the teleportation pad with precise aim. While Nefarious would recover himself, Ratchet was running his way at full speed. Right arm lifts to catch the wrench once it returned, in which he jumps up to stand between Nefarious and the teleporter now. The wrench is aimed at the robot now, and despite everything, a smirk finds his mouth.
Oh, he hated this. This was the most awkward moment of his life, and that was saying something! The embarrassment was almost crushing as he continued to stare towards the cave's entrance, still not even daring to glance at the other. It felt so surreal to be sitting there in silence with his long-time enemy; the unspoken fact that he was actually helping him, hanging uneasily in the air. He could feel as Ratchet shifted next to him, and he tensed and bit back an uncomfortable groan. Someone probably Lawrence was going to pay for this at some point, because he needed to relieve some stress. But right then, they had no choice, so reluctantly, he leaned further in, positioning himself to let the other closer, and tried to force himself to be distracted by letting his mind wander. Anything to not focus on that moment.
Inwardly, the his thoughts turned back to the Emperor. Still an unpleasant topic, but being angry was far more familiar. He still blamed his counterpart for sending him to that desolate place. Even if, deep down, he knew that this was his fault for stealing the dimensionator in the first place. Just like it had been his fault they'd ended up stranded on Magnus. Now they were trapped in a frustratingly-similar situation. Except this time, no one even knew where they were...
Some time passed before the silence was broken again. The sound of Ratchet's voice pulled him from his thoughts, but his comment had him tensing all over again. 'A soft side?' At those words, he finally did groan out loud. Shoulders hunching and hands gripping around himself, before finally casting a glance down to the other. "… You know how easy it would be to rip you apart right now, right?" He said mostly just to save himself from further embarrassment, but it was pretty clear he had no intention of doing that right then.
"I'm only doing this so we can get out of here. You're helping me get that dimensionator back." And part of him also really wanted to gloat to his counterpart that he had ultimately lost, as they escaped. But he still wasn't admitting this was his fault. "But I guess if you’re talking again, that must mean you're feeling better, right?" He would never admit this either, but it was oddly relieving to know that Ratchet wasn't actively dying anymore. Not that he wanted to dwell on that. "Lucky me! I really can't win, can I?"
Feeling Nefarious just glowering at him, Ratchet wondered if he was being judged for this moment of weakness. After all, it wasn't often he'd show a sense of vulnerability in front of the robot not since Magnus anyway. He had barely noticed his aggravated companion had gotten closer until he was right at his side, causing emerald green eyes to look up at him with apparent confusion.
Ratchet stiffened up slightly as Nefarious made his move: settling beside him close enough that their sides touched. It wasn't until he felt the bit of warmth radiating off of the other, did the lombax understand what he was doing. A simple effort, but one that showed Nefarious was trying to help him combat the situation. The gesture caused Ratchet's chest feel uneasy, certainly taken aback by his enemy's act of kindness.
For a moment longer, Ratchet remained uncharacteristically quiet. Eyes were wide as he, too, avoided looking at Nefarious. It was a bit awkward, especially as he became more aware of their proximity. His body was still shivering, but not nearly as bad and as often. The warmth the robot radiated was little, but certainly better than nothing.
❝So, you do have a soft side after all,❞ Ratchet says after a few minutes, breaking the silence between them. A smile could be heard in his tone. All that could otherwise be heard is the distant howling of the blizzard outside of the icy cavern. Arms were still holding himself; still very cold.
Hesitantly, Ratchet began to lean against Nefarious instinctively, as if his body was silently asking for more of that warmth.
When that 'Metal Sonic' guy had shown up, he'd almost been ready to annihilate him. Until they got into a very nice conversation, he must say! That guy was almost a poet when it came to the binary language. So eloquent!
Honestly, so much more so than this organic rat standing before him! Or… was it 'hedgehog'? Whatever that was! What with his constant attitude and his insistence on speaking! Like he was one to talk. It was insufferable!!! He much rather preferred the other guy!
"This 'Eggman' guy sounds respectable, honestly. At least HE doesn't go around killing robots!!" He pointed at the other violently then let his hand drop—yeah he was never gonna let their first meeting go. "And you know what? You may be fast, but you'll never be better than Metal Sonic!!! I am sooo upgrading his rocket shoes. JUST TO SEE THE LOOK ON YOUR FACE!!"
@docnefarious transmitted: (for sonic!) "Sooo, I met that 'Metal Sonic' guy... and I just want to know one thing... why are you attempting to steal his identity? PRETTY RUDE of you, if you ask me..." | Unprompted
Sonic was anticipating it eventually. His metallic counterpart encountering his... current adversary(?). Probably proclaiming he's the "Real Sonic," or conversing plans to "annihilate" him? He grinned in response, nonchalantly leaning against a wall. This accusation was nothing new to him.
"'Stealin' his identity?' You do realize he's named after me, right?" He snorted. "He was created because Eggman couldn't catch up, none of his bots could either. Metal was supposed to outpace me, but- Heh, he should've known nuthin' can outpace me."
