I'm surprised by this. As an urethrostomy patient myself, I am interested in what developments have been achieved in the collection process from the male urinal bags. I have looked into alternatives, but so far have not discovered any.
The only available approach is to have a plastic pouch with the stoma inside bonded to the stomach. Even with the enormous advancements in adhesives and barrier rings, difficulties can still arise if the skin behind the pouch, and consequently beneath the adhesive, is exposed for an extended period of time to these chemical disposable male urinal.
I believe that if patients with ostomies and colostomies were surveyed, the skin under their pouch would be one of their top issues. You may see that the skin is inflamed by the adhesives used just by looking at it.
