oh yeah i watched late night with the devil since i didn't want to see it in theatres. it's like almost a good movie
what i liked:
the whole 70s tv show aesthetic. it's cool to see movies that look like they were filmed on period equipment, not obviously digital with a film effect added (cough cough mike flanagan)
the hidden details in the background and camera glitches, i wish there were more of them
the practical effects holy shit
the way characters slipped in and out of their tv personas depending on when they were on and off air. it felt very natural, and it was a good way to add some depth to even minor characters
lilly was super unnerving in her first appearance with the way she kept looking at the camera, and i like how she looks older than what the character is supposed to be, it adds to the uncanny valley feeling and lets you use a good actor lol

what i didn't like:
ai art 🤢
the ending sequence just felt silly to me. i really didn't need some cgi demon killing everyone. honestly i thought the big twist was going to be that the skeptic guy was going to do some supernatural stuff since it was set up earlier in the movie
i saw the twist with jack's wife coming from a mile away. it would be better if they had fleshed out the whole idea of sacrifices to the devil = sacrifices to showbiz. and if they didn't reveal the twist with someone just spelling it out in dialogue
i just wish they had explored the themes of satanic panic and exploitation and what working in the entertainment industry does to you in more depth

The fact that this is the only concept art of James Sunderland being one of the ghosts that attacks Henry in SH4!!! Obviously, it was scrapped due to the fact that this would confirm that the canon ending of SH2 would be in water. Which would defeat the purpose of the ending being whatever the player wants it to be. But I personally like the think its the canon ending, but there won't ever be one :"[
