          “Well, if I must.” Rebecca bemoaned with a smile. She rested her head on her mum’s shoulder and squezed her hand. She may be fourteen, but she still felt so much safer with the reassurance her mum was there, that she would protect them. She couldn’t imagine one day not having her family there for her, even if she knew that there was every chance she would have to accustom herself to that reality.

          “It’s not that much further away than the other sections of scouts were.” Rebecca reassured her mum. They had always attending their Scouts meetings in Belgravia, however, now there was just an additional two minute walking time. “And to be completely honest, I like the new location better. It feels more specialised in catering for our age group. The last place had to cater for people from six to fourteen.”

Diana wrapped her arms around Rebecca, trying to hold her daughter as close as she could. Rebecca had grown too much for her liking in the past few years, where had the time gone? Diana swore it was only yesterday that her daughter was learning how to walk.

“I hear its going to be from four to fourteen soon.” Diana responded. She knew that Squirrel Sections were rolling out scross the UK - she and Matthew had donated to the cause - and they were going to begin in Belgravia in a few months. It seemed like a good opportunity for the twins to work towards more badges. “Will you be helping out, or are you going to wait a bit before starting the Duke of Edinborough awards?”

Diana was surprised how well her children had taken to Scouts here in Mayfair. When she was growing up in Madison the Scouting movement looked very different, and Scouting was not even a fathomable idea when Matthew was growning up in the 500s. Yet all it had taken was one mum at daycare mentioning enrolling her daughter in Beavers and the twins instantly wanted to join. Neither Matthew nor Diana had thought it would last, but yet, eight years later, they still went to Scouts once a week (and sometimes twice).

Diana had not expected to find her children still awake when she returned from her meeting with the Congregation, but she figured the pair would have gone to bed instead of passing out on the couch. The books they had been reading from were scattered on the floor near their scouting bags which seemed to still have their uniforms in.

Grabbing the bags and checking them, she was disappointed to see that she was right and quickly made a mental note to penalise their allowance for the week. They’re fourteen, they should know better, Diana reasoned as she tossed their dirty clothes in the laundry basket for washing tomorrow.

Diana walked back into the living room and smiled to herself seeing her twins sleeping so peacefully. When they were little she would have had no trouble carrying them up to bed, but the teenage years had hit both of them with growthspurts - Philip more than Rebecca - and carrying them was not that easy anymore. Summoning their old blankets, she tucked both of them in on the couches. Philip remained completely knocked out, still exhausted and wet from their Scout meeting. Rebecca on the other hand was and slowly woke herself up. 

“I didn’t mean to wake you.” Diana responded once she sat down on the couch, holding her daughter’s hand. Though part of her was glad that her daughter had stirred and not just because it meant one less complaint tomorrow morning. It had been a long while since she could have some quiet one on one time with one of her children.

Diana stiffled a laugh at her daughter’s quip, careful not to wake Philip. “I am afraid I don’t have your dad’s strength. You will have to make your own way to bed tonight.” Even if the notion of you growning up does sting a little. Everyday her twins get a little older and more independent and less reliant on her and Matthew. “Did you two encounter any difficulties walking here from Belgravia? I know its a longer distance.”
